why change if its working and the usability is great for the sake of change? (lol i cant believe i am even the one saying that after bitching about iOS looking the same for years) but once i got an Nexus 4 and discovered that u never really need most of its "tweaks" i stopped. hell i even got sick of those widgets i always admired before i got an android. simple "grid" with a clock it is. Also i miss the notifications of iOS on the lockscreen (dont tell me to ddl some app). most cool stuff requires rooting which is just annoying and nearly impossible on a mac and not as simple as just clicking a button of a jb

U missed my point fella.. it's not about changing stuff. The comment was about how can anyone NOT be a fanboy of the iPhone... So my response was slightly sarcastic granted... But ultimately the message holds true.. the iPhone now is boring and stale... It's offered.nothing new for what seems like ever... Wen u get a new one.. u know exactly what to expect cos.nothing ever seems to really change... Dull and sterile I'm sorry to say..

Looks nice. All competition is good for us the consumer. Not sure on 3D though. Saw it on nintendo handheld game console and wasn't impressed.

"which is lower than the 1080p HD display in Samsung's flagship Galaxy S5 and less than the projected 1334x750 display that Apple may use in the iPhone 6."

Such an odd resolution. Why not just do 1920x1080 and be done with it? You’re going to force developers to work anyway. HTC One from last year had a 4.7” full 1080p screen so I know it’s possible. It’s not needed but the LG G3 will have a qhd display (2560x1440). So I’m really surprised if Apple goes with that resolution.

true but to be fair it seems like smartphones have reached its peak in general and will become a saturated market at some point.

It's going to be something like this and you haters can correct me

Amazon & google 3D phones = gimmick

Apple 3d phone = revolutionary and everyone is copying

No. no. no.

Apple 3d phone on 64 bit processor = revolutionary :D.

Similar to how everyone was mocking Samsung for 'adding cores' to their processors saying a phone doesn't need that much power, but Apple does a 64 bit architecture and the world rejoices.

It looks nothing like an iPhone. Just having a screen on it means someone here at MR will say it is an iPhone clone :). It looks more like a Lumia than anything else.

You may have missed the part where the article stated the phone is partially hidden inside a case. It was easy to miss, being in the first paragraph and all. Go back and read it and you might realize your error.

If you ignore the case, you'll see a black phone with round corners. I know people like to make fun of Apple for copywriting these things, but it was a distinctive design when it came out.

Not the world just some apple fanatics :)

Hmm... four cameras with retina tracking required to produce extreme parallax effects to simulate 3D. It sounds to me like too many elements have to work perfectly together in order for this to work. And other than offering the occasional ooh and aah when it does work, what else can it do?

You're on an Apple forum, full of Apple "fanatics" - that must suit your desire to troll and cause arguments, quite substantially; it's not hard work, just keep posting in your current manner, and you'll get MORE people's backs up - that's not clever, that's something a toddler can do.

This looks amazing!

3D is going to be the next big thing. Pretty soon all TVs, Movies, and Games consoles will be 3D, and everyone will want that experience on their phones as well.

Apple and Samsung will be scrambling to catch up!!!

I... I'm not sure if the poster is being blindly sincere or simply sarcastic. If this was posted 4 or 5 years ago, I would say yeah it could be the "next big thing", but that was 4 or 5 years ago.

Right, right ....
And with all that useless, whizzbang stuff going on, what's the batt llife?
I'll tell ya what the batt life is.
FIVE MINUTES!!
Lulz.

Well what do you want it do? Backflips? Cook for you? My god people, IT IS THE APPS and the QUALITY OF THE PHONE that make the phone. I would go with a Windows phone IF it had the apps and the games. Why the hell would you buy a phone because it had widgets that, as you said, get bored with after awhile. Yes the iPhone has kept a similar form factor since the 4. However it has gotten thinner and only now are we seeing manufacturers of Android phones (HTC) making beautiful looking phones that look similar to an iPhone. I'm not sure what new thing Android phones have offered recently except for bigger screens, more megapixels (not necessarily better cameras) and more cores that has only made a slight difference in speed.

Let me just settle this:
64-bit memory addressing on a phone is pointless.
8 cores on a phone is pointless.
3D on a phone is super pointless. Same with the 3DS. Everyone buys those for the games.
All tablets are pointless to use for work. Most successful gimmick ever.
Retina display on a phone is nice, but Amazon sacrificed that to have 4 cameras and a "3D" screen I guess.

Yep, let's just go back to Nokia 3310's (actually a good phone, but anyway...)

"Pointless" = "I don't understand why they did it", != "Not a good idea"

So are you saying it's the other way around? Or some average?

----------

3D is a fad that has passed us by thankfully. Amazon is 2 years too late with that feature.

Theaters keep pushing 3D, and so does Nintendo. This crap isn't over yet :(

you do realize that What you think Amazon's main business is also Apple's.

your premise in your post is fundamentally flawed because you assume that apple has altruistic intentions.

They are no different than the other companies.

What they did differently was have an extremely charismatic leader for most of their existence that you WANTED to believe. When Jobs talked, people believed the words from his mouth without question.

this is called the Apple Reality Distortion Field.

meanwhile, Apple has admittingly participated in exactly the same corporate behaviour that virtually every other player in the game plays.

right down to attempting to lock you in to their system.

Straight from the words of internal Apple documents released as part of the 2nd Patent trial:
"tie all of our products together, so we further lock customers into our ecosystem"

Apple also Datamines:
http://advertising.apple.com/

and eCommerce is absolutely something they're doing. Through bringing in in store payment digitally through iphones and taking %'s off all app store sales. They are absolutely in the business of e-commerce

listen, I dont judge apple here. There's nothing WRONG with all of it. doing such activities is amoral and does help advance technology for everyone. As long as these companies keep competing with eachother to outdo eachother, we have competition that drives further technology everyday, and in the end, WE ALL WIN

The big difference is that Apple is at it's core a consumer electronics company who has been in the business of making great consumer electronics for many years. Google is a search advertising business at its core. The whole reason Android exists is because Google saw the mobile revolution building and needed a platform and an audience away from the desktop to SELL MORE ADS against. Amazon, as much as I like it, is an online seller of everything under the sun and affiliate advertising whore at its core. The only reason the Kindle Fire and this phone will exist is to SELL MORE STUFF through their storefront. Fine as that may be, I prefer Apple's position of advertising, affiliate marketing, and eCommerce revenue coming as a bi-product of their great hardware than vice-versa.

Meh I was going to post some positive things in here, but I see the usual toilet level commenting, the majority talking out of their rear ends etc.

I'll just laugh when all your parents buy one, because Amazon has HUGE advertising reach. And it's own eco system...

So you thought you'd raise the tone and set a higher standard by putting everyone under the same general umbrella? Right...
