The rear camera on my iPhone 5 broke (hardware failure confirmed my apple store). The replacement cost for the phone through apple was $269 as my phone was out of its one year warranty. The original cost of the 64 gig phone was around $430 including tax.

American Express extends many manufacture warranties for the same period of time, after the originals warranty expires. I call Amex and give them all of the information regarding this case, and they credit my statement for the FULL $430. I explained to them that the replacement cost is $269 but all they cared about was the original purchase price.

Don't forget about Amex extended warranty people!!
Wow I didn't know they did that, we have two Amex cards. Will definitely look into that next time we have an issue!

And the difference when filing the claim would be what? :)

If you know you lost it and you file a claim with Amex stating it was stolen, you're committing fraud.

I suppose you're really no different from members here who deliberately damage their iDevices when they feel like getting a replacement and think nothing of it. And we wonder why Apple raised the AC+ deductible and the out of warranty replacement costs several times over the years.

To I assume that I have or would is fault on your part. Simply stating a fact.

Then again, I suppose you're no different than all the others who hastily jump to conclusions. And we wonder why there's so much bitterness and increase in Mods over the years.

Nowhere was it suggested that it was assumed you did. Also can you post a source for this "fact"?

You were suggesting an act of fraud.
Based on the posts I would agree.

I suggested nothing. I simply restated what an aquaintence of mine, who processes claims for a major cell phone insurer for a living, told me.
So there's no difference between loss, theft or accidental damage?

Careful when you dismount that stately steed. Looks to be quite a fall.
Yes because this was called for.
