Will Siri be intelligent enough to find out which gas stations have the cheapest price points?

Will siri be helpful enough to find me a local deal?

I also own a small business and this will be a ground breaking feature for me.

If not, apple can take it back.

Typical algorithm used by Android owners to post comments at MacRumors:

1. Find: an impossible and pointless thing that the iDevice can't do
2. State: "If the {iDevice} can't do {impossible task} then it's {epic fail\won't buy\buy an android instead}
3. Look: like an idiot

Can you remove relationships? What happens if I add a wife, get divorced and maybe down the road I get remarried and want to add my new wife.

"Siri, who is this person next to me in my bed?"

"His name is Jonathan Keller. You met him last night at Revolution Night Club, on South Bumby Avenue in Orlando Florida."

"Thank you, Siri."

I guess notifications and the cloud are useless copies as was apple's knockoff of BBM.

Hmmm...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

I want to be able to open apps with it. "start angry birds" "open world of goo". Something like that. Easier to not have to find them myself.

That might happen out of the box, or maybe it'll require some updates for the apps.

But imagine what'll happen when 3rd party apps dive in Siri API's and you get to use your voice in other apps as well.

If I ask the thing how many "tablespoons are in a cup" I don't want to *see* the conversion I want to *hear* the conversion.

If the question/answer works like the demo video I don't see this thing being useful.

Siri = game-changer.

Admit it. There's no point in denying the obvious genius of this feature. It pretty much completely changes how we use our mobile phones.

Post of the day.

The more I see about it, the less impressed I am. Think this is going the facetime route.

I'm about to dig in to the docs, but what I'm looking for is the ability to change system settings.
e.g. "switch to airplane mode" or "Turn off wifi".

Anyone know if that's supported?

I wonder if you'll be able to train it to understand words, much like you have to do with voice recognition software. For example, to understand non-Anglo names in my address book that Siri won't recognize phonetically. Usually this is a necessary pain in the ass in voice recognition software, but I can think of heaps of ways you'd need it for Siri. It can't possibly understand everything you say on the first try.

Hmmm...

Except that BBM is tied only to blackberries. iMessage will span all your iDevices running iOS 5...And maybe even eventually Mac Computers. And that it is all contained in one app unlike BBM.

Really? Dont see me use it often. In public I dont want to talk to my phone, in the car you have to look for it and push buttons (w7 mango does this a lot better) At home perhaps but not often.

There are apps that do this already. I don't know if Siri works with GasBuddy but I don't see why it can't and there are plenty of "deal" apps.

Even if Siri isn't fully integrated with GasBuddy or other apps, this is a major step forward. One day you'll be able to say, "Update my facebook status to say I think Siri is pretty freaking cool and I was there when Apple first brought this to the iPhone 4s." Or even "Launch Chase application. Enter password xxxxxxx. Pay comcast bill in the amount of $94.36 and transfer $300 from my checking to my savings account."

Post of the day.

I wouldn't call it a game changer as it is today. But I think voice control is the future of mobile phones. If Siri was perfect, other than for visual tasks (games, photographs, browsing), one wouldn't even need a screen on their phone. So you could build a thumb sized phone which consists of Siri and a CPU.

Exactly. I bet Apple will bring loads of Siri API's to 3rd party developers in time to update their apps for Siri functionality.

Good for txting.....everyhing else is jst a tap instead..ie. How ard is it to tap on weather.....
On a side note, does Scott Forestall really need a geofence remnder to call his wife? If so, i would say his marrage is prolly not the healthiest..

Not from the lock screen. Anything you do requires multiple taps.

No Siri will find the closes gas stations and it is up to YOUR intelligence to choose the cheaper one. Finding local resources is what Siri does but it won't do all thinking for you.

The thing that makes Siri different than "Speech to Text" is it's ability to tailor itself to an individual user hence the ability to denote relationships (Wife, Brother, Mother etc) . It should improve as you use it more.

Hmmm... as I have a new girlfriend every few weeks, this could get me in trouble. Definitely don't wanna accidentally call or text an ex... hopefully I can overwrite those associations.

Although I think Siri may be my new girlfriend from now on; she sounds amazing.

"When is the iPad 3 coming out?"

"How many hundreds have i lost in my nVidia stock"

"How fast can i go on this road without reckless driving charge"

These are the types of things i would ask.
