I'm doubting the actuality of this collection of rumors.
The 6GB RAM sounds like Apple - tho I would be A-OK with a bump to 8GB in iPhone.
As I mentioned in an earlier thread on the same topic, I can't fathom a jump from 12 to 48 megapixels on the camera as that significant a leap would be so uncharacteristic of Apple.

Honestly, these Pros are pretty remarkable devices. At this point, I'm more curious about the next overall hardware direction (outside of hole punch or whatever they have in mind for TrueDepth) than I am performance bumps.

If true there goes my old 2017 Android flagship. I’ve been waiting for an update like this, I wanted to go 13 Pro but I couldn’t justify the increase in price when I don’t really care about the camera or any other Pro feature than 120hz. Bringing high refresh to the main lineup would be such a great idea, but I always thought Apple would keep that feature on Pro devices for at least 3~5 years to make it more compelling. Looks like similar to the sensor-shift OIS last year, they could want to trickle down features on a yearly basis so the regular lineup doesn’t fall behind.

Yeah, the 120 refresh across the entire line also seems suspect, to me. Agree: I also thought it would remain a differentiator for the Pro line for at least 3 years.

All iPhone 14 models will come with an integrated ice cream dispenser. I am an analyst. Please pay attention to me.
An analysts job is to guide their investors. They use industry and supply chain data to predict what companies are doing and will make. It’s not them just coming up with stuff. However, keep in mind that their job is focused on making their investors money not news.

Reason to “upgrade” this year my 13 pro?. Pill shaped notch?, 48MP camera?, no need for me. 10% faster CPU?. Serious lack of innovation. Just marginal changes. Years away from Android, like with the in-display sensor, periscope camera, etc. All available several years before Apple roadmap even. That’s way they banned that Chinese brand, fear of the competition. Now we are stuck with a semi-monopolistic market with zero pressure for innovation. My 2 cents.

Oooh, I know, high bandwidth audio chip for lossless music, off course not backward compatible with any AirPods…

if the carriers can help out with the cost of one I'll buy it. definitely needs the 48mp or better camera.

Sometimes I think that Apple is responsible for floating these rumors out there to 'gauge the market' - see what their customers truly want in their next product. Then I remember that Apple couldn't give a rat's @$$ about what their customers really want. They'd rather tell us what we want.

We won't stop seeing these worthless predictions until macrumors and other sites stop publishing them and we stop clicking on them. I'm not saying there's no place for rumors and rumor sites but we need to start regularly auditing these analysts by comparing the quantity of their predictions to the actual outcomes. And we also need to look at how many times they adjust their original predictions to magically fit the outcome.

120Hz made me go Pro with 13. Also Max not being in the standard models. I don't plan to upgrade for a few years, but more 'Pro' features to the standard models is welcome, I would love a Plus/Max standard model.

That’s nice and all but can they fix all the lag and stuttering issues on the current 13 Pro with ProMotion first?

Apple said there was going to be an update ‘soon’ which was now months ago to fix the core animation issues or whatever causing this, I’ve been waiting and waiting but there hasn’t been any mention of it since.

Meh. If apple doesn’t come up with some major changes in iOS 16, I think it may be time to switch to android. Some basic features like simple automation that apple refuses to include but are easy to utilize in android has me reconsidering apple mobile devices. macOS is still and will forever be my main OS but software on their mobile devices needs massive revision.
Simple Automation? You meen like Apple Shorcuts

Apple cheaping out on memory is something very annoying…
In 2022 all the iPhone should have 8 GB of RAM, just like my iPad Pro 12.9” should have 16 GB on every model.
They are charging us enough money to allow that.

No. Apple shortcuts are ridiculously limited compared with what I can do on an android. I can’t even automate when and where my VPN turns on in iOS. It’s infuriating.

Apple is rumored to announce four new iPhone 14 models in September, and ahead of time, analyst Jeff Pu has outlined his expectations for the devices.

iPhone-14-Mock-pill-and-hole-16x9-120hz.jpg

In a research note with Haitong International Securities, obtained by MacRumors, Pu claimed that all iPhone 14 models will feature ProMotion displays, compared to only Pro models currently. ProMotion enables a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz for smoother appearing content when watching video, gaming, or scrolling.

Pu previously said that iPhone 14 Pro models would be equipped with an increased 8GB of RAM, but based on a "supply chain check," he now expects all four iPhone 14 models to be equipped with 6GB of RAM due to cost considerations.

6GB of RAM would be an increase for standard iPhone 14 models, but not for Pro models:
  • iPhone 13 mini: 4GB
  • iPhone 13: 4GB
  • iPhone 13 Pro: 6GB
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max: 6GB
  • iPhone 14: 6GB
  • iPhone 14 Max: 6GB
  • iPhone 14 Pro: 6GB
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: 6GB
In line with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, Pu expects iPhone 14 Pro models to be equipped with an upgraded 48-megapixel main camera. He also claimed that iPhone 14 Pro models will start with 256GB of storage, up from 128GB. Questionably, he expects standard iPhone 14 models to start with 64GB of storage.

Pu has a less-established track record for Apple rumors compared to some more prominent analysts like Kuo, so a higher level of skepticism is warranted for these rumors until they are corroborated by other sources.

The big question is whether or not they'll have TouchID. FaceID has been a real P.I.T.A. during Covid.

Android has always had a lot more functionality and features than iOS. I doubt if that is going to change with iOS 16 because some of the limitations of iOS and iPhone are in place explicitly to generate more revenue for Apple; some missing features would have no negative revenue impact but are strangely absent for reasons no one can explain, unless there are patent issues.

This sounds like a solid update for the non-pro iPhones. With the larger camera sensor I would think the Pro models would need more than 6GB of RAM and more storage for 8k video.
More storage for more $'s, as an option, I would assume.

Might be a shock for you, but the US is not the center of the world.
No ban of Huawei or any Chinese brand here and NONTHELESS people are choosing Apple…
Just my 2 € cents :p

Exactly what I want to hear, assuming the same differences in materials, weights, and finishes by the time the 15 hits.

Really not impressed with the 13 Pro beyond the display, and I was already leaning towards “downgrading” on my next upgrade cycle. Unless the brushed titanium option happens by then, this would be the tipping point.

I have a 13 Pro Max and honestly haven’t noticed any lag or stuttering issues.
