I'm doubting the actuality of this collection of rumors.
The 6GB RAM sounds like Apple - tho I would be A-OK with a bump to 8GB in iPhone.
As I mentioned in an earlier thread on the same topic, I can't fathom a jump from 12 to 48 megapixels on the camera as that significant a leap would be so uncharacteristic of Apple.

Honestly, these Pros are pretty remarkable devices. At this point, I'm more curious about the next overall hardware direction (outside of hole punch or whatever they have in mind for TrueDepth) than I am performance bumps.
Yes, people could not find anything either than notch to bash...
The performace of iPhone is mazing

Haha, so true. These devices are mind boggling capable.

That some expect the same industry-redefining advancements of that original ‘07 iPhone every single year is a weird mix of entertaining and exhausting. There is no button for “innovation.” I know some don’t tend to do well with murky, but innovation is one of those murky, magical, unpredictable collisions of space and time - where technologies, materials, market needs, business goals, etc. all align and yield a new and innovative solution. Maybe occurs a few times a lifetime? Which is why ‘07 will always be so special.

Innovation you say? Take a look at Samsung Mobile. ?

Of course then you would have to leave the walled garden of iOS and venture into the Android swamp and it's collection of shabby 3rd world apps.

Not gonna lie,

had a galaxy S10 and I use the weather widget and App throughout the day. That sucker had so many ads that I would accidentally touch and it was the worst experience ever.

iOS weather App has been nice.

And its not just the weather app but the layout and experience itself. Most Apps are reliable and fast. Very uniform.

Android was more chaotic to say the least.

It was like going from Chuck-E-Cheese chaos to a fine dinning restaurant calm and organized.

Great post GloboGymLLC ?
Currently I have a Samsung Z Fold 3 (my tinker toy), an iPhone-X (complete POS), and my workhorse an iPhone 6s+
Looking forward to purchasing an iPhone 14 Pro MAX in September so I can finally (hopefully?) retire the old 6s+
Thanks for your comments! Great Android description too. ?

How do you like the Fold 3? How does it compare to your iPhones?

The Z Fold 3 (ZF3) is a marvel of technology.
While I'm no fan of the Android phone OS, it has come a long way in the last few years and the super-wide screen on the unfolded ZF3 really makes Android practical now.
(currently running Android 12 and Samsung One UI 4.0)

The ZF3 when open is indeed a portable PC. ?
The crease down the middle of the screen (where it folds) is not an issue. In daily use it disappears. You would have to feel for it with your finger to find it.

The ability to use a mouse & keyboard on the Fold is wonderful! You can also interface a Windows PC instantly without the need to jump thru any hoops. It handles files just like a PC.
I'm not a gamer but I do know gamers love these big phones! They have plenty of game controller attachments to choose from too.

As an actual 5G cell phone I really dont know if the ZF3 is any good since my iPhone is my daily carry device. I only use my Z Fold-3 for tinkering and as a "portable PC". In the 4 months I've owned the ZF3 I havent made a single call on it.
z-fold-3-closed-0001.jpg

As for the not so good stuff. . .
Physically the ZF3 is rather clumsy open or closed. The ergonomics have a ways to go before they can compete with a slab phone.
The folding screens are prone to cracking failures, (mine is fine but I baby it).
Battery life is mediocre but not horrible.
Putting a case on this thing is an adventure. Lots of cases to choose from but none of them are very practical. It's not easy to make a folding case that also holds the S-pen (stylus).
The cameras are often criticized but I found them to be fine.

The Apps. . .
There are plenty of apps for the ZF3, most of which can be had in iOS and Android versions. That makes "dual OS" guys like me very happy.
IMHO the iOS versions of said apps look, feel, and handle much better than their Android counterparts. iOS apps are much more refined than most of the Android apps, (but that's no fault of the excellent Samsung hardware at all).

I like my Z Fold-3 and will probably upgrade to the Fold 4 in September but it's no replacement for an iPhone.
For now I'm staying in the Apple ecosystem. :apple:

That does sound like a fantastic device. Thank you so much for such a thorough user experience review! I am growing tired of my iPhone’s (really, iOS) limitations enough that I am considering switching to android. I want to do basic things like automate certain tasks that iOS shortcuts won’t even come close to what I want to do but apps like macrodroid or tasker make easy. However, I do a lot of web browsing on my iPhone and I do find safari on the iPhone to be a much smoother experience than chrome on androids I have used. For whatever reason, swiping back in chrome on android, when turned on, is slow and jerky compared with the buttery smooth response I get on the iPhone. It’s a small issue but one that drove me crazy when testing out a friend’s pixel 6 pro.

If you are growing tired of the iOS walled garden then you will love Android on a Fold. There is no limit to what you can do, alter, hack, and even get yourself in trouble with.;)

I wouldnt say iOS is better (or worse) than Android, its just completely "different".
Too many people try to do direct comparison of the two operating systems instead of just realizing that they are very different and should be enjoyed for the unique experience that each of them deliver.

I'm an iOS guy all the way but I'd be stupid to not try the new technology that Samsung has brought to market.
I have two cell phone numbers thru Verizon but even if I had just one number SIM cards are easy to swap from phone to phone.

Just being able to sample the massive amount of Android apps the Fold can run is a good reason to buy one. Lots of automotive diagnostic, lab-engineering, and cutting edge stuff that you cant get on an Apple phone.

BTW, the 120Hz screen on the Fold is plenty smooth! :)

$799 14 128GB

$899 14 Max 128GB

$1099 Pro 256GB

$1199 Pro Max 256GB

The Pro starting at 256GB means there is no price rise, they just got rid of the 128GB tier. Which make sense, I have long argued with 5G, and other component cost on the rise, iPhone 12 should have had the price bump, but then we had the pandemic and Apple wasn't so sure about the price rise. And the same with iPhone 13.

iPhone 14 price stays the same, the 14 Max is a new SKUs that just sits on top of 14.

This also means that for the iPhone 13.

$599 13 mini
$699 13
Do you think inflation and chip shortages will make them increase the price in September?

Do you think inflation and chip shortages will make them increase the price in September?

Do you mean "further" increase from the above? If that is what you are asking then no. ( Add $20 for US iPhone 14 as they come with mmWave )

The quoted post already increase the starting price of Pro by $100. Part of the reason why they could afford to put the rumoured 8GB Memory in Pro now. And the iPhone 14 Max earns more than iPhone 13 lineup. Along with the possibility of BOE OLED into iPhone 14, the increase in BOM cost should be manageable.

Price increase on the iPhone?
It's difficult to answer that without getting political.
Besides... People that want a new iPhone will buy it no matter what it costs.

For example...
Last October I dumper a cool $1800 on a Samsung Z Fold 3 that serves me little purpose except to reassure me that Android apps are still shabby compared to iOS apps and folding screens are prone to crack at any time for no particular reason. ?

The majority of us walled garden lovers would buy an iPhone 14 no matter what heartfelt excuse Apple fanboys can concoct about a coming price increase. ?

Even with the situation that’s going on right now? Hmm tough decision. I wanted to wait for the 14 Max. Since I don’t need a nice camera.

I wanted the Pro MAX but considering I have little use for high-end cameras and the proposed (ugly?) notch replacement in the Pro phones...

...thus I too might downgrade to the cheaper 14 MAX.
FACT: If the SE came in a MAX size I'd already own one!:)
