The big question is whether or not they'll have TouchID. FaceID has been a real P.I.T.A. during Covid.
I'd be surprised. I think their answer to that is buy an Apple Watch and use mask detection/Auto Unlock.

Be nice to have it built into the power button though.

Jeff Pu is wrong on all iPhone 14 modes getting promotion since Ross Young said that the non pro models will get 60hz

Come on apple 2022. Can you can do better then this? We pay top dollars for all of your devices, and you clearly run us around in circles. lets do something major and give us full control of our devices. Take a note from Samsung. Give us 8-12gb ram no 64gb base and promotion 120hz refresh for all models. What happen too the always on display like the apple watch? Wi-Fi 6E, 48-megapixel main camera all models. Get rid of the notch period..

Apple cheaping out on memory is something very annoying…
In 2022 all the iPhone should have 8 GB of RAM, just like my iPad Pro 12.9” should have 16 GB on every model.
They are charging us enough money to allow that.
Best take of this thread so far... My 12Pro has 6Gb of ram. Bump up the Pro's to 8Gb at least!

Why even bother when the software doesn’t have the capacity to take advantage of all that memory. Apple needs to completely redesign iOS and turn it into a modern mobile OS not something that is practically the same as 15 years ago.

$799 14 128GB

$899 14 Max 128GB

$1099 Pro 256GB

$1199 Pro Max 256GB

The Pro starting at 256GB means there is no price rise, they just got rid of the 128GB tier. Which make sense, I have long argued with 5G, and other component cost on the rise, iPhone 12 should have had the price bump, but then we had the pandemic and Apple wasn't so sure about the price rise. And the same with iPhone 13.

iPhone 14 price stays the same, the 14 Max is a new SKUs that just sits on top of 14.

This also means that for the iPhone 13.

$599 13 mini
$699 13

They are getting rid of the notch. It’s getting separated.

I'll be surprised if all 14 phones get ProMotion.
In 2022 it might be more difficult to get 60hz displays instead of 120hz ones because it’s already more or less the standard in the Android world and especially for the Oled display manufacturers like Samsung and LG.

Yes definitely agree on this, 120 Mhz refresh rate is not a ‘Pro’ feature at all considering budget £300-£400 Android phones have it as standard. Variable Refresh rate displays are on the more mid range to flagship Android phones though, so maybe this is what Apple will use to differentiate the regular and pro iphone models.

Could be difficult as well because when you let the display run continuously with 120hz it consumes more battery but the overall feeling is even more fluid compared to the variable refresh rate.
This would be hard to explain why the non-pro is more fluid as the pro.
Won’t happen. Probably the 14 will be limited to 90hz or something like that.

That makes sense. However, ProMotion isn't just 120hz, it's the variable refresh rate. I suppose 120hz could be brought to the lower end devices without the variable refresh, if that helped keep costs down.

Pls see my comment just above yours.
I don’t think that this will happen.

I very much like your take on this, they might give the regular iPhones 14 120 hz but they will keep the variable refresh rate for the pro models, or maybe they will give the standard iPhones 90 hz?

Sometimes I think that Apple is responsible for floating these rumors out there to 'gauge the market' - see what their customers truly want in their next product. Then I remember that Apple couldn't give a rat's @$$ about what their customers really want. They'd rather tell us what we want.
Apple takes their requirements from MacRumors posters?

All iPhone 14 models will come with an integrated ice cream dispenser. I am an analyst. Please pay attention to me.
See? not everything is so obvious like you pretend..

You seem to have missed my point entirely. Well done!
