This is so stupid.. what would be the point in making an ipad-like 'mini itv'? for starters the screen would be 4:3 so a large area of the screen would rarely be used. why not just have an app for the regular ipad? iring is also ridiculous, who would wear a ring to control the tv? how would it be charged?

Samsung had sRing since 1987??

Yeah, sure. It had also so called "Smartphone" before 2007.

I have tried in the store. It takes approximately 5 minutes to get to Google and another 10 to type something.

lmao tooooo true! People think you can just make a slap dash product and anything that conquers it is copying. It is like me building a house out of grass and apple coming along and building one out of stone but i already built the grass house so that allows me to copy the design of the concrete one lol. Samsung's motion control is the biggest gimmick ever. Apple will release something useful then samsung will copy it because they can't invent something practical themselves and all the haters out there will say "but samsung did this first" and all the people with sense will be like "yeh but they only built 1% while Apple built the rest of the 99%" and then the haters will be like "iSHEEP!!!!!!!!!"

You're world of black and white is fascinating. I'm not sure I could live there 365/24/7. But good for you for making it work!

They could buy iTV, gaining both the name and a media source. But why would Apple call anything the "iTV" when the name sounds really bad and causes confusion with the Apple TV?

With a Market cap of £4.85 Billion (about $7.25bn), I'm not sure apple have that much spare cash.

Well that's quite a pleasant historical account on this! In actuality, Apple *did* launch the first Apple TV as "iTV", only to change it following ITV's complaint.

No they didn't. In fact it was prior to release that it was going to be called iTV, Jobs presented it on stage as such, however, at release is was only ever called Apple TV.

Fact of the matter is that at even $1500, any 50-60 inch screen would be way to much money. I purchased a new Samsung 52 in. plasma at Frys for $429 last year, and a $50 Roku for every "smart" feature I could ever want on it. There is absolutely no way I would purchase one 1 tv of any kind, over three 52 inch HD sets for even cheaper!

same back at ya. Since my opinion got the top most votes on this article it would seem that most people agree with me so if you want your way you're on the wrong site buddy.

Funny that you think upvotes matter. If it does - you might want to consider that no one can downrank you. So your number can only GO in one direction.

And I don't post to be popular. But again - good for you if that's your goal.

i don't care for popularity but your posts can't be voted down either. Just pointing out that the majority by far are in favour with my opinion and not yours.

You should do a side-by-side comparison of a $1000 60" screen and a $3000 60" screen.

If you're happy with "clay-face", washed out blacks and lots of motion artifacts - buy the $1K screen.
