iRing? Gimme a break.

Lemme, check the date again.... It was April fools a couple fo days ago. Yeah, must be a delayed report.

Stupid reports. This damn iTV thing just will not die will it.

That particular situation was not so cut and dry.

The truth was basically that Cisco bought the product and trademark from another company and cancelled the product. They failed to have a product under said mark until something like 5 days before their last grace period to renew the trademark was over when they got wind that Apple was going to apply for the mark as soon as it was open. So they suddenly put out a press release for a new product and applied to renew the mark. Apple took them to court saying this suddenly announced and to be released later in the year product was merely a ploy to keep the mark from Apple. The courts basically agreed and said Cisco had to share ownership but if they failed to actually release this product or ended it they gave up their share to Apple.

Any source for this fantastic story?

Gee, that mini iTV screen almost sounds like... AirPlay on an iPad! No really, they would be dumb as hell not to just go with AirPlay with the market saturation that the iPad already has. Can you say redundant?

A ring sounds even dumber, too.

Well, those two claims were never made.

Perhaps my English is very bad and I have not understood that:

Reality is that Cisco never lost the trademark and Apple negotiated with them the purchase of it.

Be prepared to take a 30 year loan out to afford this thing, personally I think 60" is overkill for the first version of an Apple TV

Yeah, will they stop with the 'i' crap already? iRing? iWatch? How about iSuppository where most of this stuff belongs?

I think there is some nuance there. charlituna never said that the court case was decided. It ended in a confidential settlement agreement with no indication of who "lost" or "purchased" anything. I have no desire to look through the actual court documents to see if there were any preliminary rulings to this effect.

I think the articles I cited do make Cisco's claims to the trademark seem tenuous at best. And a deliberate attempt to maintain the trademark simply as leverage in negotiations with Apple.

Regardless of whether it was a judge as originally claimed, or simply an expert opinion, I think the larger point made by charlituna was reasonable. Cisco's ownership of the iPhone trademark, especially in respect to a cellular phone, was far from cut and dry.

Apple never took them to court, the court never decided that Cisco lost the trademark and the trademark was not forced to be shared.

Charlituna story is just fiction.

A lot of them, including the official court documents.

i bet him to put those "official court documents". If he doesn't do that, he is only fabricating a fable

I have reached a stage with Apple products that I will only believe anything Apple related when I see those products.

I know that is how it should be but apple rumors used to excite me in the past but no more!!!

haha at those prices Apple must not be putting is logo on them. expect 50-75% more then a competitors similar product

I can't iMagine having to use an iRing and iPad to watch my iTV. That would be iNcredible.

Oh, AppleScruff1, shame on you!!!

As I am one who is often pompous and pedantic, and has a penchant for the ponderous and prolix...I would never use such language tricks!!

BTW: Completely agree. It's cute for about 5 minutes, and then...not so much.
