Apple's development schedule for iPhone 12 models will likely be pushed out slightly due to current travel restrictions and cargo flight delays, which could result in delayed availability of the highest-end 6.7-inch model, according to analyst Jeff Pu.

In a research note with Chinese research firm GF Securities, obtained by MacRumors, Pu said he believes that the current "EVT" or "Engineering Verification Test" stage of iPhone 12 development may have been extended by two weeks to late April for the 5.4-inch model and 6.1-inch models, and to mid-May for the 6.7-inch model.

As a result, Pu currently expects the 5.4-inch and two 6.1-inch models to be available in September, followed by the 6.7-inch model in October. This two-phase rollout would be similar to 2018, when the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were released in September, followed by the iPhone XR in October. And in 2017, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus launched in September, followed by the iPhone X in November.

Pu also believes that Apple's widely rumored iPhone SE successor will launch in mid-April, suggesting that the device could be announced as early as next week. The new iPhone SE is expected to be an upgraded version of the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch display, Touch ID home button, A13 chip, 3GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage.

I want the best "small" form factor available. I'll purchase the 9/SE when it is released and if the 5.4" iPhone 12 fits that bill then I'll purchase that as well. While the X, Xs and 11 Pro "looks" the same size as the 6/6s/7/8, I found the difference noticeable and did not care for them.

So, that “leaker” may be right about the April 14/15 date? So many people trashed him over it thinking it would be released in early April.

I'm gonna buy this so fast when it comes out. My current phone is the original SE, which I love, and I love the small form factor, but it's only 16gb. So every time I try to update my apps, it says I don't have enough space. Though I'm not fond of the larger size of this new SE. I'm just gonna buy it because of the price and much larger storage capacity.

With the current economic uncertainty, it could make a lot of sense to launch a low-cost iPhone. $399?

with a ... Touch ID home button

...that makes it the only current generation iPhone capable of being used to make secure contactless payments without taking off a mask.

Watching people use FaceID for contactless payment at the supermarket has always been a laughriot, even before it carried a potentially life-threatening / plague-vector risk.

In other words, even the $400 iPhone SE has faster processor than the $1600 iPad Pro 2020?

So at the end of last week we had the rumor that the iPhone SE was imminent: I was so ready for it to be announced Tuesday! That we're still here waiting takes some of the enthusiasm out. Ready to ramp it up again next week though: I've been awaiting its release for months, lol.

I currently have an SE that I got right when it came out, first half of 2016. Hopefully it isn't unreasonable to expect a similar four years out of this next one. That means that this purchase could be my ONLY phone purchase over an eight year span. I'm allowing myself to be a little jazzed about that!

With a 4.7" screen, 3 GB RAM, and A13 SoC, it definitely will last 4 years (assuming you don't drop it on the sidewalk).

Nope.

The A13 is faster than A12Z in just one measure. The A12Z (and A12X for that matter) is faster than A13 in everything else, and by a very large margin.

First, if I'm wearing a mask I'm also wearing gloves. But also, Apple Watch does contactless payments just fine, with both mask & gloves on :)

That would agree with Jon Prosser’s rumour about the new SE.

However, I’m more interested in the next A14 iPhones, and even more interested in the next iPad Pros with A14X and 5G (and perhaps mini-LED and perhaps even Thunderbolt).
Isn’t he the same idiot that got put on blast publicly just yesterday for the incredibly ridiculous claim that Apple is planning on jettisoning the $3 billion Beats brand name???

Yeah- you might not want to quote the current laughingstock.
