Still fewer than 5% of PCs ship with Blu-ray drives. It's not really taking off. 4/8GB on optical storage is sufficient for most people; the desire for watching the discs on computers just isn't there.

For the most part, it's a hollow complaint. There are people with legitimate needs for BD authoring, but clearly not enough to make it a serious problem for Apple.

You just said you didn't really want one...

I do want one, I think you mis-understood or I need to re-state. I meant to say its not BECAUSE I want one (meaning I do, but Im not saying they need to just because I want one)....

Expect there to be 13, 15 and 17-inch white MacBooks. Why? Apple is losing out too much in the lower price sector because not everyone wants a 13.3" screen. They will be polycarbonate and weaker than their Pro counterparts - expect the current MacBook specs, don't expect the integrated battery pack.

Although it would make some sense for the tablet to replace the 13.3" MacBook, it will be a separate product. There is still too big a market for it to discontinue the full-fledged MacBook.

That's right. Stick to your guns!

You may have to buy before Apple adopts BluRay, if that's the case, and it still matters to you a lot (more than the OS and other goodies associated with Apple), you can always pick up a Windows 7 machine somewhere. Choice is good.

Glad to see there are some NON jerks in this forum.
I may buy one before, because I really want one. I bought a super cheap G3 in December (50 bucks on ebay [see specs in sig]) just to get somewhat of a feel for OS X and I really like it. I'm only boycotting for now because it only seems logical that Blu Ray should be released soon. If not, that really sucks (for me) but I am not willing to wait after the next refresh because OS X is that amazing. Still, I will be very disappointed with Apple.

I think this would be disastorous sorry.
I was considering buying the white MacBook at first but the screen is such a let down.

I'm hoping that if the rumour is true of an update coming to the macbook I'd hope for the black to come back and a better screen :)

I wonder what you all do with your MACS

I love my current iMac, it is fast, I hardly ever need to wait, it never crashes. It performs. And I do lots of processor intensive tasks. I love working on it.

So I don't really need a faster processor (I am at 100% maybe 1% of the time)

BlueRay, no real need for it, I don't really watch that many tv

Actually there's probably only one update I would have wanted on my iMac and it's a eSata port or maybe a PCIecpress slot so I could add sata external drives and have some more performant hard disk speed. But that's specifically true for the fact that I am doing a lot of video editing.

I often wonder if Blu-ray is the last optical technology -

I mean who wants disks? they are so last millennium >_0 SDXC upto 2 Tb ... for those who realllly want to own physical things. (edit: to list the first technology i googled :p)

Of all the threads screaming 'I wanna Blu-ray' the same arguments seems very lacking to me - x

I don't want to get caught in the crossfire between you two. You probably won't find any stats, but http://store.apple.com/us/reviews/MB869LL/A?fnode=MTY1NDA1Mg&mco=Nzk3NjM4NQ shows that there are plenty of people on both sides of the camp. Personally I would hate the small one (from the point of view of the fwd/backward delete, arrow key position, spacious page up/down keys as much as the numeric keypad), and I'd be pissed if I accidentally ordered an iMac with the small one, but I'm pleased Apple made it a no cost *upgrade*.
I agree on this. I have one of the small wireless keyboards (got it at no cost with my Mac Pro in 2008), I wouldn't say I hate it, but I absolutely cannot use it seriously, and have to stick with my older apple wireless keyboard, the full sized one with white keys and clear-case.

It's a shame, as the old keyboard isn't as nice to type-on, and is a lot heavy/bulkier than the aluminium keyboards. But the loss of a number-pad, tiny arrow-keys, less function-keys, and so-on, it's just not good for serious use at least for me.

The keyboard cases for the aluminium wired and wireless keyboards are almost identical though except in size, so it seems a no-brainer to just make them the same, and slot in a different component for the cylindrical part depending on whether it's wireless or wired, then they could give us the full choice of four different keyboards. As the aluminium keyboards are just awesome to type on, but not if I've nothing I can type =S

I would like to see the following:

Return of a 17" iMac. While this might not be popular not everyone wants / needs a huge screen. I would definitely prefer this.

The option to have higher specs on smaller iMac. Thanks

My 13'' iMac is actually perfect for me. Bring back those smaller screens, and update the innards.

No Macs for poor people. They shouldn't be using computers anyway. And we don't want them in our stylish, hip stores. They would ruin the ambience with their Walmart wardrobes and annoying behavior. Let eat cake and use emachines. :D

You've been spying on the user group I went to?

That's not a redesign though. That's an update.

I know it is. I answered the question you asked.

When Apple does a refresh of their laptop lines, it's generally ALL of their laptops. That doesn't mean there will be huge changes made to each model, but they will likely ALL be changed/upgraded/updated in some way, shape, or form.

Yea the last time they did that they did what to the white macbook exactly???

I think Blu Ray would be a good option if anything just from a back up stand point. While alot of things are either going to a cloud or backups going to a hard drive format I think there are still uses for physical media - I don't think it's a completely dead format just yet.

For the iMac I would LOVE to see:

A Revolutionary redesign and
NO Power Brick!

Actually I would prefer a Mag-Safe connector - that cord is the only thing that endangers my iMac's life. The rest of the cords are desktop bound if that.

Price cuts coupled with the much weaker dollar might actually mean that macs will be almost decently priced in Europe?

I lol'd.

---

I'd like to see some spec bumps on the Mac mini. Make 2.26 GHz the baseline with a 2.4 GHz option. And a 500 GB hard drive option too, please. 2.5" 500 GB drives are now plentiful.

So my new iMac is just over a month old. What do I do with it now...

Don't feel too bad. Mine is 1 day old and already there's a new one coming out. :) Oh well, it's not like ours are paper weights. It's still a rockin' machine.

My wishes

Likely
200$ cheaper
No or less chin
LED Backlit Screen
Mobile Quad Core i7 (high end model)

Unlikely
Matte option
SSD option
Replaceable HD

Very unlikely
USB 3.0
ATI 5850 GPU option
No CD/DVD/BD (physical disc are dead like floppy at the time, please free up all that space in MB, MBP & iMac !)

keep it and be happy...

and you could hope that apple just screws up there iMac line like they did their MBP line (though now that there is a matte option, I feel a little better).

And personally I would watch blu-ray movies on my computer all the time. And so would a lot of college kids (coupled with netflix), if the option was there. In fact I watch the majority of all video media on my computer (through a projector or monitor).

But I don't expect great things from Apple anymore (computer wise/tablet excluded). I'm not an average consumer (neither are a lot of people on this forum), and that's who the company targets.
