Does anyone else find this ridiculous ?

So apparently the Mini will have the same size screen actually have a larger body. And yet it's called the Mini.

What a load of...

This guy like every other analyst make things up. A Macrumors poster could do better than most analyst.

I don't think the cheaper iPhone would have a smaller display (e.g. 3.5") as Apple is moving towards 4" 16:9 as the standard.

By the way, if Apple were indeed working on a cheaper/plastic iPhone, I'd like to see Apple make the cheaper iPhone (with some features missing/use plastic as the shell) the basic model with just 16GB. The aluminium iPhone (with all the advanced features) would start from 32GB, then 64GB and 128GB.

Already a better analyst than Brian White (who?).

I'm looking forward to the cheaper iPhone only because I think when that come out they will drop the stupid numbering with the "proper" iPhone. I think the only reason that the iPhone has any naming scheme at all and isn't just called the iPhone is because they sell older models cheaper at the same time so it would be confusing if they were all just called iPhone. If they come out with a proper cheaper iPhone, hopefully they will stop selling the older ones and the iPhone can just be called the iPhone rather then what we have now where the 6th iPhone is called the iPhone 5.

Not sure what they would call a cheaper iPhone though, can't go with mini, nano or air if it's the same size or bigger.

Strangely enough, the lower-priced iPhone is still being called the "iPhone mini"; however, the general consensus (albeit a few disagreed and expect a slightly smaller screen) was that this new device would actually have the same screen size (i.e., 4-inches) as the iPhone 5.

There's no way they're going to call a plastic phone with the same screen size the "iPhone mini". It would make absolutely zero sense to consumers. I could see a potential sales transaction going like this:

Customer: I'd like to buy the new, cheaper iPhone.
Apple Specialist: The iPhone mini?
Customer: Is it available in a smaller size than other iPhones?
Apple Specialist: It's the same size as the iPhone 5 and 5S.
Customer: <puzzled look on face> Why is it called mini, then?
Apple Specialist: Good question.

I'm analyst as well. Based on extensive surveys, I can safely say the iPhone 5S will be released this summer or autumn. It will have the same or larger screen. The processor and GPU will be faster, battery life will be the same or slightly improved. Camera will be improved as well.

Apple is working hard to incorporate a fingerprint sensor, but it's a lot of work to integrate with iOS 7, so it might be postponed for the iPhone 6 which will be, according to our sources, released in 2014

The iPhone 5S will look the same as the iPhone 5.

Apple is looking to change their naming conventions, but is most likely to call the iPhone 5S... the iPhone 5S or the New iPhone.

Can I have my money now?

So what would fingerprint technology do? Replace the "swipe to open" sequence? Would it replace the 4-digit pin I have to enter each time? (mandatory Exchange account). My biggest gripe about using mobile devices is getting past all this crap. (Yeah, I know some of it is necessary but still...).

Oh... and I dislike the physical home button. It's awkward and positioned in an awkward place. I miss my crappy samsung slider.

Forgive me all... my estrogen levels are running high today so I feel like whining.

Seriously! So everything that has been rumoured in the past few weeks this 'Analyst' has stated as his own knowledge.

Oh.. and I bet it won't have a LARGER Camera... perhaps a higher res Camera.

Its ok babe ;)

Bigger camera? As in physically bigger? Or more megapixels? If yer gonna put something in the title...elaborate little. Sheesh!

Oh...and if the supposed mini iphone is gonna have the same screen size yet will be THICKER....um....please tell me exactly how can it be called "mini" again? Lol. It make no sense.

This article was whack.

am i the only one who thinks they are fragmenting the line too much.

I'm guessing you're referring to resolutions, correct?

Really, they need to either settle on a fixed size (ditch any non-retina, and have all iPhones use the same screen size) OR modify the what apps work, so that they dynamically fill the screen in the way Android, and (to a better extend) WebOS does. Tizen even does it.

The issue is that iOS wasn't well planned out at all when it came to future proofing it, so they have had to 'hack' at the UI layer to add support for the taller screen, and then improve it and refine it after launch. At some point they will either consolidate all devices so we have just 2 screen sizes again (iPhone and iPad) OR they will modify the app development process to allow dynamic app sizing or scaling in a better way.

It's a pain in the ass developing for the iPhone and iPad as it is, however the difference in resolution on the iPhone 4 and 5 lines isn't so much of a problem unless you use rendering engines (e.g for games). Most apps just have to be recompiled.

I'll skip it

This will be the first iPhone model I'll skip if the screensize stays the same as the current model.

I love my iPhone but the screen is too small for me. I would much rather have the HTC One hardware - just a shame it's running Android...

Still hoping Apple will give us a choice - same phone, same resolution, just different screen sizes.

Sounds like a great upgrade. Looking forward to it! Especially the fingerprint scanner. I'm so tired of entering a password.

screen is too big! 3.5" was perfect for me.

now if u get robbed, u have to worry about them cutting off your fingers!

Impressive. Bravo. :D

I'm making the jump to the HTC One. Have mine on preordered! The iPhone was great, but it's become boring. New and better iOS, Bigger screen, new look... and I will be back. I'll bet the 6 will be something worth getting. At least I hope so, for Apple's sake.

Although Im tempted to go Droid too, specially S4, I agree with you.

Its the same ol' thing in new box, advertised to be revolutionary... again.
