I don't understand why you'd want this...? To me, that would make everything on the screen extremely small, and it would be a pain for me as someone who does graphic/web design, in that, if I design a site and it takes up half my screen, it might not even fit on somebody else's screen. So it's hard for me to tell what the average user is seeing.

First of all, resolution independence is coming. Another thing is, I work within audio/video so I want more faders and longer timeline and I don't care if the physical size was smaller.

Somebody who does graphic design should be using his Cinema Display anyway. TN panels used in laptops only give 6 bits but colour is defined in 8 bits. Better to have an external S-IPS panel...

For most users, agreed. For the pro market, more resolution is better. And you can always change the resolution to get an idea of what your site will look like on low-res screens.

I read rumors on this site that Apple placed an order for 15-inch LED screens, but not at a higher resolution than the current 15-inch MBP screen.

Could this be the face of the new iMac?

Screen shot from appleTV ad with Jack Black. Note clear edges, modified iMac-type base, chrome surround.

I actually hope this is true. If it stays at the current resolution, it will match the resolution of my 19" external LCD monitor, which will make it easy to use extended desktop and "mirroring" or whatever it's called.

not sure if this is anyway connected but I just spec'd out a mac pro with an ACD under the educational discount and pulled up a strange $199 promo discount for applecare which essentially made applecare free. Note this only happens when you're in the educational store and spend of 3500. This might just be a random promotion that has always existed but there my mind wants to believe this is yet another sign that apple is going to revel some badass new screen at WWDC!

here to hoping!

Use this as your wallpaper then, to identify the different screensizes.
