Steve always presents his keynotes on an imac, so WWDC would be a perfect time to introduce a redesign.

I'm hoping for a 13 inch mbp, seeing as apple didn't boost the macbooks quite enough as I had hoped for and I want a small portable. If not, it'll be macbook all the same.

But it will indeed be all about the leopard..

Hey, does anyone know if the announcements at WWDC are televised at all?? I'm hoping to hear the announcements first hand, rather than to have it relayed by someone else...

Sometimes Apple will do a quicktime broadcast (stream)
Usually engadget/Mac Rumors feedas have worked better for me though.
the broadcast would always get jumpy on me.
I'd see Oh and one more thing . . . <then broadcast freezes>

Apple also often posts a quicktime stream after the event that you can watch.

I have MacRumors live (text, and now with small images) in one tab, and Engadget on constant refresh in the next (I might try it with NewsFire though, see how that performs)

Later, I watch the Apple Quicktime stream. It is likely that this will not work for a few hours or so after it comes out, as so many people want to watch it...

*SIGH* Well, it's the weekend... so no more updates until next Monday. As it gets closer to WWDC, I seriously start to worry about the distinct possibility that the MBP won't be updated then. I don't know what I'll do. Should I buy, or wait longer? I can't take the waiting any more!!!!!

to my knowledge, steve only did this once when he introduced the intel imacs.

macbook is already very powerful with its price, compare with the lower end macbook pro. u can call the macbook "macbook pro" if u wan.

technically anythings possible for wwdc.. 8 core mac minis for 200 bucks anyone?

uh-oh...

so we're roughly 15 days (but who's counting, right?) from a new imac and yet not one "elevator" photo of the new design?? where are our inside sources brothers cousins bowling pal who cleans the toilets (and the elevators) at apple inc! i'm starting to panic....

maybe steve invented computers so powerful, that they developed minds of their own and went on a murderous rampage inside apple inc, killing all but their creator. either that or someone forgot to remind the mop-boy that there was a new imac rev coming up.

Ok, let me think of something to photoshop...I mean call my sources.

I sure hope the MBP gets a proper update at WWDC. I'm also waiting for weeks to buy. If it's not updated at WWDC I'm going to buy. Can't stand the waiting either, but I would regret if I buy now and in two weeks there would be a brand new shinny MBP.
They should do somthing, the MB is nearly the same as the MBP, biggest difference is the price.

I am ready for the new Macbook Pro... My Powerbook G4 is now over three years old. I am hoping for the new design also but I doubt it.

Ugh... I've been waiting since January. I could have gotten it then, but I'm going to college in August and I figured it's best to get one closer to when I leave.

Why do you want a new design?

Why do you want a new design?

Maybe because the design has been very similar since 2003, when the 17" PowerBook G4 was debuted at MacWorld SF and they want something fresh and different.

The MacBook Pro is nice, but it's not as "wow" as it used to be. Same can be sad for iMac and MacPro. Apple will keep pushing boundaries of industrial design otherwise they wouldn't be :apple: .

I agree. Doesn't seem to have the wow factor of the Macbook even. The Macbook - especially the white one - looks distinctly "Apple", whereas I don't think the MBP quite has that distinctiveness about it anymore since many other manufacturers now use the same type of design.

the imacs have to get updated

if you look on mac rumors buyers guide, the imac and the mac mini are the apple products that have been updated the most time ago. They are the oldest of apples products.

All I can say is: I'm still running my G4 TiBook and the moment that a Santa Rosa MBP is made available, I'm upgrading.

I was waiting for the G5, then for the c2d, then for Leopard, now it's Santa Rosa. I can't wait any longer. I've maxed out just how far I can take my current machine with Ableton Live and Reason - which is to say, not very far by today's standards.

The moment that new MBPs are announced I'm going to start refreshing the Apple store page every 30 seconds so that I can get my (pre-)order in asap.

/ counting down the days to the WWDC '07

"same type of design" — yeah, copycats. Apple makes aluminum laptops and the rest of the industry still uses silver-painted plastic. While both are grey, they look and feel very different…

Well, I was reluctant to accuse them of 'copying' Apple, because someone always points out some manufactuerer that used the design before Apple ever did.
