There is a lot of negativity here about this update, but 2 things to keep in mind:

1) As Intel announced, these chips aren't available for another 6-8 weeks. The first PCs shipping with them will be in August. Apple couldn't wait that long, they needed to upgrade to the new Force Touch trackpad.

2) Broadwell is an insignificant upgrade. Benchmarks show a 10-15% increase in actual speed, and the Iris Pro 6200 is about 10% faster.

I am willing to bet Apple tested Broadwell and Skylake, and decided to skip Broadwell for now in lieu of launching Skylake end of this year or early 2016.

I personally think this was a smart decision on their part, and I purchased the maxed out 15" a week ago. I'm happy with it, it's a nice upgrade in every regard. Screaming fast SSD, a quad core Haswell I haven't been able to bog down even with video editing, and a new dGPU that makes me proud of AMD (I've been an Nvidia fan for most of my life, but this thing is solid).

Am I disappointed Broadwell is coming out in 6 weeks and I bought a Haswell? No... well, maybe a li...who am I kidding? DAMN YOU APPLE!!!

I am feeling the same, I like the 2015 update and will be happy with my MBP. And as you and others have said/pointed out, Apple obviously knows something we don't. I am totally good passing on BroadWell for Skylake.
Though I am scared on what the re-designed MBP will have. I bet it will look cool, but I really really hope they don't change the keyboard. lol

What's wrong with the new keyboard? Switching to butterfly switches doesn't necessarily mean that the keyboard will be shallow like the rMB. But it will mean that it keys won't be as wobbly.

Newegg, Xotic PC, Genentech, and most other gaming outlets. A review of the Broadwell MSI GS60 Ghost is also up on Youtube with benchmarks.
Yea, but one important detail: gaming PCs(and PCs in-general) generally don't use Iris Pro(Crystalwell) CPUs, which is what's needed for the rMBP. Even direct rMBP competitors such as the Dell XPS 15 and Razor Blade didn't use Crystalwell CPUs.

The only Broadwell I've seen shipping is the 5700HQ, with an HD 5600. This makes it obvious to me that the CPUs that are required for the rMBP aren't going to be ready for prime time, which is why it got left out of the 2015 update.

It isn't just the super flat-ness of them, more like they are too big and the feel is weird. I imagine I would get used to the new butterfly mechanism, but right now the MBP already has some of the best keys i've used, and if it isn't broken don't fix it. (also my keyboard keys aren't wobbly in the slightest) :)

I am not a big fan of the new keyboard. Or, at least the rendition on the rMB. I love the Force Touch trackpad though.
