[Apple emoji] hasn't changed the design of the [iMac emoji] since 2️⃣0️⃣1️⃣2️⃣. [pile of crap emoji]

I'm so old, that in my days, they were called emoticons or smileys, and they were entirely made up of punctuation marks.

But to be honest, I don't get the whole emoji craze.
  • Use of anything but the classic smiling, sad, or laughing one is highly ambiguous and I have no idea what you're trying to say (like if you send me a gorilla or one expressing a complex emotion, like crying but laughing but also wearing glasses and riding a shark). Like, what are you trying to say? Why don't you just write it down instead?
  • Using them often makes you seem childish and immature, equivalent to TYP1NG EVERY7HING LIKE TH!S111
Seriously, when would you ever use an emoji depicting garlic? Or butter toast? Why would you ever have to use those? Since when is typing "dog" slower than opening up the emoji panel and scrolling through a quadrillion of emojis to find the one that looks like a dog?

Interesting. Emoji day, eh? Love this world.

What are included in the emoji set are defined by an international body (not Apple), Apple is just implementing them...just like Google does for their releases of Android etc.. Since it's Apple and we get updated versions of iOS it just means we get the latest before most folks in Androidville.

Phew -- so many old whiners in here!

Facial expression existed long before language and written word; emoji is the best digital approximation of that.

Take a reality pill and get with the "modern" "trend" folks.
I don't do "trends" since by their very nature, trends are fleeting and eventually die out, only to be replaced by the next "trend."

When it comes to emoji at work, 61 percent said that they use emojis in a work context. 78 percent said emojis positively impact likability, 63 percent said emojis impact credibility, and 74 percent said emojis make positive news more sincere.

As someone who works for the military, putting an emoji in a work email is the fastest and most sure fire way to have someone come to my office and give me a 30 minute lecture on proper email formatting...

I don't mind emoji's. I don't use them much. It's faster just to type what I want to say. Better yet dictate via Siri. Searching through 5,000 emoji takes far too long.

I'd much rather Apple improve Siri's dictation ability. Word accuracy could use improvement. Particularly add auto punctuation. Plus add a voice command for corrections. As it's hard to remember to say question mark, comma, period, &c while dictating. Also, it is annoying when I want to write out period but it places a period instead.

Forget apple being doomed we are. lol

I think I just felt the Earth tilt a few degrees from all the emoji haters choking in unison.

Imagine...teeny-tiny emojis having so much power over some peoples' lives. Not healthy.

I like using emojis to promote misunderstanding but the silly political correctness run amuck in the couples emoji makes it too much. There are so many emojis now I stop searching for new ones and use the same old ones because finding them is a pain.

Get rid of the couple emojis - they are useless anyway.

And before you start with the "homophobe" junk. I have employed, hired and select to even represent my business those who were homosexual WAY before even Obama and Hilary supported gay marriage. I would say WAY before it was even "cool".
