SGSIIS, eh? SSSon of a bitch...

Apple is guilty of doing this too, but it takes them 16 months to add an "s" at the end instead of one month that Samsung is guilty of doing. Remember that MadTV spoof with the iPods?

The only real Android to get once per year is the ones from the Nexus family. At least they don't get released as fast as Samsung's diarrhea with the Galaxy line. And at least the updates come fast and they get supported beyond a year. People blame Google for the fragmentation. It is actually the OEM's fault. LG Optimus 2X won't get ICS and that was the first dual core introduced earlier THIS year.

Excuse me. Five with four on the way. LOL

http://www.att.com/network/

True. But the advantage AT&T has over Verizon is the phone has hspa + speeds which in theory can run up to 42mbs with a software upgrade. The phone supports 21mbs hspa speeds

Obviously the S2 skyrocket has both LTE and hspa +.

With Verizon u can be screwed with LTE and falling back to CDMA 1-2 Mbs speed or even fake 3G Evo. 300 Kbps speed in the boonies.

I'm sorry but why not. We accept a subsidized price for the phone for our LOYALTY to our carrier. Just because people carrier hop doesn't mean the people that don't should be punished. Just because there are morons who tether and download gigs and gigs of music on their iPhone doesn't mean I should lose my unlimited.

The one thing I notice on this forum is a lack of loyalty to their carrier....I have ATT U-verse, ATT cell service, and is it perfect, of course not...but it functions enough for me to not complain.

Verizon is offering unlimited LTE to grandfathered in plans, and I don't see why ATT would not. Loyalty should be rewarded, not dismissed.

AT&T told me that I would be able to grandfather my unlimited data to LTE

Another fanboy...that can't accept how outdated the 4s is....

The issue especially with Samsung Android phones in the USA is lack of timely updates

Let's just say this S2 Skyrocket will ship with gingerbread 2.3.5 while ice cream sandwich will be only on galaxy nexus.

By the time Samsung updates the S2 in the USA, google will be preparing Jelly bean operating android system.

I am not kidding. None of the Samsung galaxy S phones in the USA have been updated to gingerbread whole Europe has had their gingerbread 5-6 months ago. And it took Samsung /carriers 4-5 months to even upgrade galaxy s phones to froyo after the European phones got their froyo.

Samsung has a major history of lack of updates with android phones in the USA. Read Samsung Behold 2 as prime example. People forgave Samsung on the behold 2 but Samsung has repeated history again with the galaxy s. and Samsung will once again do it to the S2.

Since this is a thread on the new Andriod phone and it's gone in several different directions, I feel I can safely change the direction one time as well.

When it comes to the Android phones, how come some have the large "flip" style clock like the Vivid and others don't, like the Skyrocket?

Being the gadget geek I am, I've been throwing around adding a droid phone to my family plan, as I can do it for about $30-40 a month. Anyone else have an extra phone "just because"? Or do I need therapy? :)

Thanks

AMEN. Updates are so slow to roll out and by the time it does the next version of android OS is out!

That clock is just a widget, there are literally hundreds to chose from.

The issue is with the US carriers. Here is my suggestion to anyone interested in an android, pick something for what it is, not what you hope it becomes. There is no doubt Apple has a leg up on update "fixes". Much easier with apple, everyone else has a leg up on hardware though.

I have a bad feeling that the release of this phone means that the Galaxy Nexus will not be on AT&T :(

first LTE phone baby

I personally like not having to feel like my phone is "obsolete" after owning it for a month as I did with my DroidX. iPhone ftw... :apple:

How so considering apple is usually behind everyone else on both the hardware and the OS side. Sure it's not obsolete due to apple releasing another phone for 16mos, but by industry standards, they always play catchup.

Sure, they've nailed down the mix of hardware working with software, but even apple becomes dated.

My phone was announced 11 months ago and runs 4G LTE. Apple got alot of catching up to do, not even mentioning the bigger screen or higher amount of internal RAM it comes with.

Totally meaningless. Steve will kill Android.

He's left a clear war plan behind for Apple to implement.

With a war chest of unlimited cash, resources & the finest Lawyers, Android will never survive being nuked by Apple.

What a db.

The 4S was NOT exactly a weapon of mass destruction!

You need to check the sales numbers for Android and Apple.

The numbers are not "totally meaningless":p

Oh, I know. I thought I'd post like a Fanboi just for kicks. Lo & behold the response still got voted down. The boys are never happy.

I use both the latest iPhones & Androids. Personally I enjoy them both. Each for their respective strengths. Those who bash Android reveal envy more than honesty in nearly every case.

Galaxy S2 has been updated: http://www.itproportal.com/2011/07/11/samsung-galaxy-s2-get-android-234-gingerbread/

Also, you can update it yourself. It's not hard.

Nexus is now the Galaxy's bitch... seriously, the Galaxy line is overkill now. Too many crap phones has been released on the Galaxy lineup. Google should've just named it "Nexus Prime" instead of being another Galaxy.

Well the only way to really compare sales with andriod is to either compare the iPhone with one model andriod phone (ex. sales of all iPhones vs sales of all samsung Galaxy phones) or compare the mobile OS's of android vs iOS. Either way Apple kills them. Comparing the iPhone against all other android phone is not right. iPhone is the hardware and android is the software.

Sorry but that is not going to be fair. There are MANY different iPhones out there. Who cares, I use a 4S and like it but I am telling Apple they are going to have to STEP UP if they want to keep being number one.

This is what innovates.

That phone is freaking ugly. The UI is almost impossible to learn without 12 hours of play time. To contrast directly with that--my three year old picked up my iPhone and just started using it.

Someone wake me up to this sort of thing when it doesn't totally blow.

Yeah but what does that say as an educated adult (giving credit were it may not be due), that somehow you need a phone a 3yr old can figure out.

The UI on androids isn't that hard, it's pretty easy. You'd be surprised just how much control you have over your phones set up (stock, not rooted) that apple doesn't give you. Simple things like adding an email attachment or sending a photo to photobucket. You don't realize how much of a PITA it is on an iPhone to attach something while your composing an email until you do it on another device. You can't, it's that simple. Sending a photo to photobucket, you can't do it simply by clicking on the photo, selecting share to photobucket. You have to go to the app, and sign in, then chose upload, then go select your photo. But hey, your 3yr old can figure it out and it looks pretty.
