ITS CALLED THE MODBOOK
Its been out for 3 years and noone has bought it.
Doesn't that tell you something about the market for such a product?
It tells me you don't know the first thing about what your'e talking about. They sold the hell out of those things. There's still often a wait list. And that against some pretty tall odds. The modbook was delayed what, 18 months, and they still sold like crazy. The modbook pro they've been taking advanced orders on, at $5000, for over a year, and it's still no closer to coming out than it was back then. The market's big enough that Wacom still sells the hell out of expensive Cintiq's and Intuos tablets to the mac base.
I bought five modbooks for our designers, and you know what? They suck. Yeah, I said it. They suck. All five of em have
some problem or other that keeps them from working smoothly or consistently. Wonky drivers, underpowered hardware, with an operating system not designed for the hardware. Yes, if Apple did one, a lot more people would be willing to use one. The market is a lot bigger than some of you think. Tablets still have yet to be done right by anyone, win or mac. What's upsetting is, it's always the consumers who can clearly see what's needed, and the MFG's either have no idea or don't know how to get it done. It's inevitable though, and when it happens, it'll be huge.
But hey, I'm sure keyboards and mice are the future of computing, & not the past. God forbid anyone do anything other than read websites & type basic documents on their computer.
Woz is on the board in name only. He likes this kind of clever cannibalistic gadgety stuff and is happy to say so. If he liked your project, would you charge him for a sample?
