I would like a new standard to superseed SMS. As far as I know, Google has too much of their fingers into RCS. Unless RCS can be completely untangled from Google, RCS should not be the way to go. But other standards are not likely to emerge.
You know, I didn’t know that about non complaint colors but it makes complete sense. My main question is specifically about the green bubbles. Apple intentionally uses a non-WCAG compliant, inaccessible contrast ratio between font color and background for them. Is this to make things especially bad for people with disabilities affecting their vision who happen to know people who use Android?
All Android users applaud you for this. Some IMessage users may hope you would do the same with them.I already don't associate with Android users so this won't affect me.
I know it’s a very unpopular opinion here, but all of the efforts in the past year to improve text communications between iPhones and android have been made by Google, and it is a shame that Apple is doing nothing on their end. Don’t know if RCS is the necessary answer, but it is as terrible for android and iPhone users to have all this mismatch in features and functionalities
Downvote that all you want, this is what I really think, and I will certainly not defend Apple on that
You know, according to Virgil's Inferno the Ninth Circle of Hell is a frozen lake.🤓So you're saying we should give a glass of ice water to the people in hell again?
'Cause Apple is a business, not a chairity. Why should they care one bit about what exprience Google users have in regard to iMessage tapback being sent to them."So why is Apple not trying to make the experience better for both kind of users when they use native message services?"
Apple should ignore it, and say that Google’s emoji system is broken. Or maybe make sure it is surrounded by a green bubble.
It is apple’s responsibility to give iPhone users the greatest experience on their app, which we don’t have at this moment because they are unwilling to make any effort. I don’t care about the android experience per say, but if I am unable to manage a group conversation or am receiving annoying notifications from most of my contacts ON MY IPHONE, as someone that is deeply embedded in Apple ecosystem, yes I can accuse Apple of being lazy and greedy. It’s not Apple responsibility to fix iKnockoffs.
I don’t want Android users to be happy. They should have bought a real iPhone.
Google isn’t entitled to Apple’s engineers. They already stole the iPhone/iPad/Mac platform and now they want Apple to work FOR THEM?!
Apple should definitely care about the experience of iPhone users, which is bad the moment you add one green bubble person in a chat. This could be better for iPhone users'Cause Apple is a business, not a chairity. Why should they care on bit about what exprience Google users have in regard to iMessage tapback being sent to them.

Apple is certainly not working for google, but it must make its services work. If companies agreed in the past on email protocols, wireless network protocols, smart home protocols etc., why can’t they agree on a messaging protocol?
Google today announced that Android users will be able to add emoji reactions to SMS texts received from iPhone users in Google's Messages app. This feature and other improvements to the app will begin rolling out in the coming weeks.

Given that the Messages app on iOS lacks support for the Rich Communication Services (RCS) protocol, emoji reactions from Android users will appear as annoying follow-up SMS text messages on the iPhone, according to CNET. For example, the message will say something along the lines of "Joe reacted with Heart to 'let's go to the movies tonight.'"
Google's head of its Messages app Jan Jedrzejowicz told CNET that it will be up to Apple to decide whether or not to parse those texts into the appropriate Tapback reaction on the iPhone, similar to how Tapbacks now appear properly on Android.
The feature seems to be at least partly an attempt at Google encouraging Apple to support RCS on the iPhone, as this would eliminate the annoying follow-up SMS messages. Google launched a campaign earlier this year pushing for Apple to adopt RCS, but Apple CEO Tim Cook suggested the feature has not been highly requested by iPhone users.

Apple should definitely care about the experience of iPhone users, which is bad the moment you add one green bubble person in a chat. This could be better for iPhone users
Stop saying that Apple is owing google in some way, I am talking about the iPhone user experience, which is as annoying than the android one. Apple owes iPhone users a great iPhone experience on its native messaging platform, which you only have if 100% of your friends, coworkers, and relatives own an iPhone. The experience I get on my iPhone should not be impacted by the choice other people madeIf Apple can one-sidedly fix it that would be great. But they don’t owe Google anything.
Wow…..just….wowI try not to. If I do. There are major boundaries and limitations set.
Apple is a business, making Android user experience better on iPhone is counter intuitive. Protecting ecosystem supersedes green bubbles.Apple should definitely care about the experience of iPhone users, which is bad the moment you add one green bubble person in a chat. And Apple bizarrely claims it is a new "feature" of iOS 16 that they did!
Gotta love a good ‘ol fashion swinging d*** contest. Piss off the users of the other platform so that platform makes a change. I bet apple reacts and implements proper support rather soon. Can we get a poll going?
