Let's be honest here - anyone that comes down heavily in the side of Apple or Android exaggerates the differences between the 2 platforms.
They might have taken different routes to get there, but at the premium end they're both at very similar places right now.

iPhones have great build quality but so do some Android phones and I honestly can't think of a single feature that I actually use that one has but the other doesn't.

I tend to alternate my phones and used to miss x, y or z but not anymore.

Except not well apparently. Which is why only the LG is supported. It seems the Moto 360 has some major issues. Also, I would imagine a lot of it has to do with the shipping firmware. Since it requires newer firmware, you couldn't get past the setup process on a Android Wear device with older firmware.
I've been using my Moto 360 since Google released AW for iOS and haven't had any issues at all.
I updated to the 1.3 firmware before pairing it with my iPhone. No issues whatsoever.

I've just ordered a 360, i assumes it will come with older firmware, can i just update this with any android phone or can you do it via computer?

I can also confirm that the Moto360 mostly works fine with the iPhone. I tried without updating to 1.3 and that didn't work, but after the update it paired immediately with the iPhone (following selecting 'reset' from the menu on the phone). It appears battery life is not great on the watch, but that may be now showing signs of settling down a bit (or alternatively I was just fiddling with it more on the first couple of days).

I hope the support for it continues. I got a Moto360 due to the low price and the fact is is still the best looking smartwatch out there. It is way nicer than the Apple Watch, which requires paying a very high price to even get from it being ugly to being 'decent'. The smartwatch functionality is, however, more limited than with the Apple Watch, and also compared to running it against an Android phone. Hopefully that will also improve with time, although the one thing I would really like to try, Apple Pay, will obviously not make an appearance.

In general, though, I don't think I would yet describe a smartwatch as a 'must have'. It doesn't tell time as well as my mechanical watch, will not last as long, and it will run out of battery even on a long flight. It has some geek appeal, but I'm yet to be really convinced of its usefulness.

As long as the Android phone can support the Android Wear app, I would update it from there.
Doing it from a computer is a pain.

Asus Zenwatch works fine (as long as it has been updated to Android Wear 5.1.1). You may need to use an android phone to update it. Once updated it works great with the iPhone. Superb quality watch and less than $100 now in the US.

How will it run out of battery on a long flight? Are you're flights more than 24 hours?
Many people are able to stretch the 42mm to the second day.
If the flight is 12-16h, then you'd probably want to charge your watch (and phone) while you sleep so they both work when you get there.

I mean, you're not wrong... but I see it more as Google services being more about choice. You can use Android Wear, GMail and all of Google's services on Android and iOS. But Apple software is pretty much limited to Apple stuff (with some exceptions.)
Why would you start your first sentence with "I mean" , unless you were trying to clarify something you had said prior. How bizarre.

Android is googles trojan horse to get data from you to provide ads for stuff you like. Nothing more. No offence but anyone dumb enough

I wouldn't buy any android device at all. I don't want google to succeed as all they want to do is get all the info from you and shove ads in your face and make a bleep load of money from your info.
You seem angry sir...

Apple did not want to allow this. However, the Antitrust Regulators watch everyone these days. It's going to be very interesting to see how Apple addresses this. Could hurt AW sales quite a bit if allowed to continue.
More competition = better for consumers.

Why should I care about what apple feels and if it hurts apple watch sales?

Watch maker or smart watch maker? Because the Apple Watch feels like a cheap toy compared to a proper Swiss watch, that isn't manufacturer garbage made in China.

iPhone 5c. Apple Watch Sport sold with plastic bands. Please, go sit somewhere.

How many "pos android watches" have you tried on the iPhone? How about reserve judgment until a review actually comes out/you try it yourself. Don't let blind allegiance to a brand get in the way of trying other options.
No matter how hard you try to explain it their are many that will be salty and bitter !!!
