I am not sure why you responded to my post in this manner. Is it to imply that you talked yourself into not needing something since Apple didn't implement it? If so... LOL. If not, I wasn't referencing you, so again I ask, why respond to my post?

Because it looked like you were talking to me.

I said I wouldn't use tab syncing if I had it and then you said it was funny that people were talking about things they didn't want to use.

Seemed obvious to me at the time, but I guess you were talking about someone else. Sorry for the reply, then.

I have stated a few times how tab syncing is beneficial.

Yes, and I said I have no problem with it being a feature other people can use. I never said other people shouldn't use it if they want it. There's no argument you need to make to convince me. People like it, they can use it. That's fine with me!

I think it's funny that I'm getting down-voted because I said that I, personally, would not use it. Not that it shouldn't exist, mind you, just that I wouldn't use it.

It's not like everyone uses 100% of their smartphone functions, but apparently I'm not supposed to admit that!

Tab Syncing is only beneficial for hardcore internet addicts.

There, I said it.

After you've install Dolphin, the next time you click on a link in any program that calls the browser, it will ask you which browser you would like to use to complete the action.
You even have the option to make the selection the default action.

Oh wait... you're not on Android.
Not sure how that will work in iOS.

Lol, yeah I know. I've sacrificed some usability for aesthetics and dependability by choosing iPhone. Apple is strict but it works. And there's quality apps for everything so it's more than worth it.

However...I am jailbroken. MUAH-HAH-HA!! :/

So, how do I do it?

EDIT: Simply download Browser Changer on Cydia. Any browser can be your default. FTW!

Strange.. I have a Droid X2, and the sites that identify what type of browser I'm running always identifies the default borwser as Safari.

The only thing I can think of is that it must be based off of WebKit

It baffles me that people use Safari. It's like using Internet Explorer for pc. I use Atomic Web Browser

unfortunately apple does not allow 3rd party browsers to use the nitro javascript engine. This puts them at a disadvantage to safari regarding performance.

Bad analogy. Safari works.

There once was a time that Safari used to have quite a few problems with crashing. So it didn't always "work". I don't think Safari is horrible but I do think it leaves a lot to be desired. I feel like with a few small additions and tweaks and could be one of the best if not the best mobile browser around.

Seriously. When I first got my 3G (about a month after they came out), it had a super unstable browser. It was like this for a month and while I already loved my phone I was getting very frustrated with the browser (I mean seriously, sometimes crashing when I didn't even ask it to load a page, just reading a page and it would crash. Several times in a session of using the phone). I think if they hadn't fixed it in the first update since I got the phone (about a month or so after) I would be loving the phone less and less. I can tell you my previous iPaq running some old version of Windows was far far far more stable on its version of IE.

Atomic was my favorite until I came across one called "Perfect Browser". The full screen view is the best yet. Tabbed browsing is also included. For now it's the best I've used, after trying them all.

Yet the worst aspect of my very nice 4S is it's tiny display. I never thought I'd consider Android, but I've tried my friends with the terrific widescreens. I am waiting for the upcoming iPhone to see if Apple gives it a proper display.

I am counting on them to bring the iPhone display up to date.

That depends on what determines the "gold-standard". If it is features, then sure Safari lacks many options of Android. However, from everything I have read today, people note that Chrome is less responsive (scrolling smoothness, etc) on Android than Safari is on iOS. But that is all individual opinion. If you are happy with it and like it better, that is all that matters.

Well it is still in Beta. It doesnt even work on my Vibrant running ICS. Force closes everytime but its ok, i can wait for it to get out of Beta. Opera mini works very well for me.

I even had problems with it on my 3gs for a while. It took them a while but they eventually did get the browser stable. The crashes were pissing me off at the time similar to how you felt. I was almost ready to get rid of the phone all together, but I didn't care for the other options that were available to me at the time.

Yeah I have to agree with you. The screen size is probably the biggest issue I have when it comes to the browser. In the end even if we had a full featured browser, the screen size is still a pretty big limitation. I will admit that I too have considered moving over to a different device that has a larger screen. Part of me wants to wait to see what the next iphone is going to be like and part of me is getting fed up with the shortcomings of the phone. Maybe I should carry two phones lol j/k.

I went back to Safari. Dolphin's Browser is not formatted for the iPhone's tiny screen.

Safari may nit have all the additional features yet, but it was made for the iPhone and it works best.

I know you've seen me around bud... I will always quote you if speaking directly to you. :D

Apologies if this wasn't written before (I briefly read through all 4 pages of this current posting).

I own a Verizon CDMA/LTE Galaxy Nexus and installed Chrome Android.

It's fast.

But the most important thing I found about Chrome for Android is this

NO Adobe mobile flash support

Yep. Google has officially closed the book on mobile flash support (well Adobe closed the book late last year).

We all suspect Chrome for Android will be standard default browser when "Jelly Bean" aka the Android OS following "Ice Cream Sandwich".

So with this Chrome for Android, Google is gearing all their support for HTML5.

I own both GSM iphone 4S and Galaxy Nexus. I always put "flash plug in" "on demand" and rarely use it at all.

Glad Google eliminated mobile flash support all together with Chrome Android.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.2; en-gb; Galaxy Nexus Build/ICL53F) AppleWebKit/535.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) CrMo/16.0.912.75 Mobile Safari/535.7)

I'm surprised the lack of Flash support made the headlines to be honest.

I'm glad to see it not supported. Another step towards a plugin free, unified web powered by HTML5. No one is left out that way.

In all, good news! :)

Tried it out on my Asus Transformer Prime. Amazing little browser. While stock browsers, Opera, Dolphin, etc, have great features, they do not measure up to Safari in terms of speed. Chrome Beta is just as fast, no lag, no stutter. Can't wait to see what it will be when it's a little bit more developed.

I do miss "Request desktop version" feature that's available on stock browser.

Everything from competing vendors makes iPhone/iOS dated depending on who you ask. Nokie N9/Lumia makes the hardware dated. WP7 UI makes the UI dated. Android functionality makes iOS dated etc. Now Chrome browser makes mobile Safari dated.

Always something...

Chrome browser is not a 3rd party browser to Android... It's made by Google.

Yeah, Safari needs an update...It has been the same since they launched the device way back when!
There's no question that there are areas where Safari can improve, but saying it is the same as it was 5 years ago is just silly. It's not even the same browser it was 5 months ago.
