Under Ahrendts' leadership, Apple ditched the Genius Bar and instead adopted the more casual Genius Grove, cut down on third-party accessory sales, and turned its retail stores into gathering hubs with Today at Apple classes, artist performances, and more.

I read in a quote elsewhere
In a normal store the Genius Bar was crowded, so we’ve separated it. Where we’ve put trees in the new stores it’s an area we call the ‘Genius Grove’. It’s behind a wall so you can hear people and the trees take the noise down.

Which translates to:
We didn't want people to see how many people were actually lined up waiting to get broken hardware fixed so we spread them all over the store

sorry I really hate to do this but all I been reading in Mac rumors is people leaving apple
I haven't heard nothing about apple hiring new people

people are just leaving, I wonder why
most people will stay just for the money even if they don't feel comfortable
but it seems that not even the huge amount of money that they received as payment is not good enough for them to stay

I'm telling you guys , Tim is driving apple costumers and employees away
stop trolling , Tim is doing an excellent job, he will run for president and we will vote for him even if triple our taxes

go Tim bandwagon

sorry Tim lovers, count me out

I'll never forget the fond memories...

That brilliant debut stage performance when she slipped the word "cervix" instead of service...
Her fashionable appearances at store openings that lasted mere minutes before disappearing back into the void.
The beautiful tree gardens in Apple "squares" - formally known as what they really were, "stores."
Those divine watch counters within department stores... her attempt to turn Apple into a fashion statement.
And finally, her olympic sized stock packages she was given to do absolutely nothing original.

Take care, your excellence. En Taro Tassadar.

The thing is there is a massive market for people that buy the iPhone solely because it's 'cute' or it's a status thing. Milking them for official cases and watchbands was pretty smart.

The weird thing of turning apple stores into squares etc was straight out of Zoolander.

This may sound crazy but I'd rather walk into an empty Microsoft store, get service right away and walk out than deal with an overcrowded Apple store. With that being said, why in the heck does Microsoft have retail stores anyway? Nobody buys direct from Microsoft, they'd do better with a station inside Best Buy.

I do. I like walking in and browsing. I like the random interactive things they have (a full racing cockpit with moving seats, just for Forza, I’m in), but also because I feel the experience is better than other big brand electronics shops that sell many things. When I bought my Surface Go, I made sure to buy it at the Microsoft Store instead of the huge tech store right next to it.

Kinda seems like all she did was remove a countertop, add some chairs and change the name of the “Genius Bar” to the “Genius Grove” resulting in a cluttered mess, and then took $70 million in compensation for it.

The definition of ivory tower.

People commenting that they will "miss" her. Honestly, how do you really "miss' someone you've never met? I miss my family when we're not together. I miss friends and family that's passed away. . I don't think I've ever missed someone that runs a department in a company. Ok, I guess I "miss" Steve Jobs. I probably miss the Apple of Steve Jobs more than the person. Since I didn't actually know him.

But to each their own. I will most likely neither miss her nor not miss her. I didn't know her. lol

For the most part, her vision for retail was right. Stores are becoming less about cold sales and more about experiences. The Today at Apple stuff was a great example of how bricks and Mortar retail can stay relevant in a digital age.

I guess the bigger question was, did Apple need it. Did shifting the focus away from traditional retail contribute to the decline in sales? Is that why she’s leaving or did just have enough and want to try something new.
Apple store has not had a problem of connecting customers with positive experience until she came.

That man jaw. I can't even.

Of all her accomplishments at 3 top tier corporations in their respective industries ... her mark left as a top female executive, at her age still looking damn fine with sexy legs and still has top end fashion sense, arguably THE most beautiful woman that worked, had worked, or ever worked at Apple ever and her jaw (that suits a strong bone structure of her entire face, cheeks, decent smile, nose, eyes, full head of hair) ?!

really?

You seem like a weak and insecure male; afraid of successful females with such a low comment. It ads no structure or meaning to this thread. Just saying, your attack on her physical appearance is just so weak in this day and age. Is there not some sort of rule about this on the boards? I'm sure I've been busted for such a comment about an Apple staff member about their appearance before or warned. And no I'm not asking the mods to do something or calling them out, I'm simply curious and typing aloud my thoughts.

I’m older so she always reminded me very strongly of Glenn Close in her youth.

Well these forums will lose their favorite scapegoat. I’ve seen this woman blamed for so many things that had absolutely nothing to do with her position, I had wondered where logic and reason had fled.

I’m waiting for someone to post “Bye, Felicia”.

I can’t say I was a fan of everything she did. But to be quite honest I’m not completely sure myself exactly what successes and failures were hers to own and how much belonged to others.
If she had not been rewarded mammoth salary and stock package for doing mundane job while Apple products are so expensive, she wouldn’t have been blamed so much. Cases of high-paid dysfunctional executives like her are always a sign of great corporations falling.

The other side of that theory is that maybe the service part also became chaotic when the products started declining in robustness, user-friendliness, accessibility, and intuitiveness, thus necessitating MORE intervention from Apple in some way.
No, it’s been like that for 10 years or more. If anything, it’s because Apple has more and more devices.

A lot of the service are questions from people who don’t know how to back up their photos to iCloud or connect and email account...not hardware failures.

Sometimes, the CEO can appoint a person to a position that ends up not being a good fit, even if they seem like the right choice at first.

I'm trying to think of another instance this happened at Apple, but drawing a blank at the moment. ;)
Big mistake in giving her fat stock envelope before she delivers sizable contribution.

I don't understand why she left so soon? She did a great job and she have my deepest respect for bringing more Apple Stores to South East Asia. Thank you.
It’s South Asians’ purchasing power that have brought more Apple Stores there, nothing to do with her position or her.

Very difficult statement to measure.

I think she was OK, but the stores were a zoo because she failed to separate service and sales. I still think that's a mistake because going into an Apple story is too chaotic. I blame her.
Neither is Mac modular nor the store.

You guys got some real nerve dissing an Apple VP who ran some of the most successful retail stores after being the CEO of Burberry... behind your anonymous usernames :p

If sale goes south, 99% blame should be put on the product itself (design, engineering, innovation, etc), not on sales team
