This is Marketing 101 stuff. Get the name out there, drive up brand awareness and profit. There won't be many people out there silly enough to spend $100 on a USB-C cable, but Anker will probably see a bump in the sales of their normal stuff as a result of this.
Yep, gives the brand a "feeling" of quality too.

But they’re not Roll’s Royce. My timing comment was, Anker is known for quality products and affordable prices, they are “entering” The luxury market with ”timing” that will make it more “difficult” for them to sell.

Couldn't be more factually stated than this.

They probably think “why not” knowing this will have low sales anyway but are hoping it will somehow shine a light on other factors of the product.

I made an account just to say the multiple Anker cable I've bought are hot garbage. Stop saying they are of any decent quality. Cables that need warranty replacements suck.
I’ve probably spent more than a couple hundred bucks on Anker cables over the years (mostly 6-10ft). They’re a lot better value than the Apple cables. The Apple cables tend to fray within 1-3 months of use. At least the Powerline+ lasted us 2 years minimum (we still have some 4 year old cables in use) and I’ve yet to have a Powerline+ II cable fail.

Mind, the normal Powerline+ II and Powerline III cables have lifetime warranty as well.
