Well I'm not even sure if I'll buy the regular ones after one failed within a month. See how the second one from the pack goes I guess.

24k gold plated cable - exclusively from the creators of "i am rich app"

Those HUGE Anker logos are completely out of place on "luxury" items.
They should have gone for a discreet "A". Or even no branding on the cables at all.

This is not very good for the brand to be honest... I don't understand why they have done this. So that people can laugh at them? They seem like a joke. Come on! You are not Apple! Focus!

Anker is no longer brand I know. At first they release quality cable and accessories for a bargain, but now they seems trying like Supreme with releasing product like this.

Why would anyone want this?
It does look nice, especially if you have case etc. matching. I like things that look nice. Many people like things that look nice. I don't have enough spare money that paying $100 for a nice looking cable makes sense to me, but if my salary was ten times higher, I might buy one. Why not, if you have the money?

Its impressive that anker have been able to earn a good enough reputation so as to pull something like this off. Wasn't the brand associated with cheap chinese accessories a couple of years ago?

This is dumb. Really dumb. Anker should rethink their values and if they believe this is in line with their values after some deep reflection, please let me know. I will not support a company who pulls a stunt like this.

This is geared towards the new middle class, social media influencers and suckers who put everything on credit so they look like a social media influencer.

Absolutely! Yes, we shall spend $100 for a new necklace. Mind you, this release is during the current Pandemic!! No intellectual power at all!

Why should there be no luxury products sold during a pandemic? It’s not as if they stopped catering for their usual customers. Rolls is still selling cars too and I’m sure you’re not complaining to them either.

Sort of a bad look, Anker...

I use tons of Anker stuff. I hope this isn't the "Monsterfication" of Anker.

Remember Monster Cable? Exactly.
Best Buy used to push them because "they had special properties that made them sound better," i.e. "We made a ton of profit on each over priced and hyped cable."

You'd think someone who pays $100 for a cable could afford a real Submariner at least.

I have so many Anker cables, but I can't figure out exactly why I would need one that cost $100.

Reminds me of the Magnolia sales reps trying to get you to buy to the special gold plated HDMI cable for the best picture and sound quality. Forget the brand name at the moment, but I swear the way they would sell it, ALL of their commission must have come from that ONE cable.

Probably Monster. The Magnolia folks seemed to only know what equipment had the highest markup and spiff. It's fun to listen to them "advise" a customer on what they need to buy if you want a few laughs.

They quoted me over $6K to do a media room, and $2k was for cables and another 1k or so labor (in a basement with open framing!). Did it myself for a fraction of the price.

I'd gold plate all my stuff for the fact that it kills virus and bacteria but unfortunately I don't like the look of gold...

Gold-plating is actually quite cheap... even if done properly (multiple hard layers, polishing) it costs only a 1 digit amount for most stuff like this.

This audiophile cable luxury BS mentality is too stupid - totally stems from the 20,000 dollar HDMI cable-crap they pull over the ever stupid audiophile cable shills eyes, and now this?

They make good stuff, but I hope Anker doesn't become AnkerioQuest.

So why the $100 price hike? It's snake-oil dude, nothing more. And are you serious about the anti-bacterial properties of golden cables? Dude..... Put down the Audioquest catalog, for your own good.

It's meant to go along with this:
That’s a scandalous accusation! The DB5 is an object of beauty and elegance, even without oil slicks, not gaudy trash like this cable!

I wonder if it'll work any better than those $6 cables I buy on a monthly basis.
To be fair if it holds up for a year and a half it’s saved you money.

I’m not sure what you mean with the timing comment. The market for luxury products certainly has not gone away and these folks are probably trying to widen their audiences.
Roll’s Royce isn’t going to stop making expensive cars either.
But they’re not Roll’s Royce. My timing comment was, Anker is known for quality products and affordable prices, they are “entering” The luxury market with ”timing” that will make it more “difficult” for them to sell.
