It won't be until China decides to stop exporting to the US that some folks will realized how screwed we are. We depend upon exports from China for pretty much everything. It would be a veritable economic sanctions against us.

Half of us knows we hitch our wagon to the wrong horse. Hail, we were cheated by the system and brain dead MAGAts.:(

Halt exports to the US…and then be stuck with a country full of businesses who have no product to offload? The CCP is stupid, but they’re not that far gone that they’d send their own country into vast turmoil. How will they fund their belt and road if nobody’s buying their junk 😂

Washing Machines are easy to find Made in the USA.
Speed Queen is made in Wisconsin.
Whirlpool and Maytag in Ohio.
GE in Kentucky.

Whirlpool, GE, Sub-Zero, True Residential refrigerators are Made in the USA, too.

Does anybody "need" a television?
Sure, except for the fact that the raw materials that they need to buy are going up. Everything will cost more, everything ...

Where do the parts come from? U.S. companies that aren't end-to-end manufacturing here will also likely have to deal with price increases.

And it begins... Small business will be squeezed. Business with no guarantee that on the whim tariffs might be imposed again will stop business investment. Economy will slow while prices rise. Bond market will take a hit when there's no confidence in the US treasury that the dollar holds its value. Interest rates rise with no safety net.

It's only Friday, so are you saying that all the of the stock that was already in the US, or in a port, or on a cargo ship prior to the tariff placement has already been sold? Or are they or Amazon just adjusting the price early?

Because we can determine that from the last week:rolleyes:
No, he is a terrible business man who keeps failing upwards. Here is a list of Businesses of Donald Trump that went bankrupt.
Last week was just him crashing the stock market so his billionaire friends can make billions while small business lose because of it.

…and the saddest part is, when tariffs are taken down by the next government administration, I bet that those prices still will be up or companies will just lower items $5 to “comply”.

BTW, even if we buy US stuff, US will want to compete with the tariffs and increase their prices. Example: Chinese pen with tariffs $10, in the US before tariffs was $5 but will increased to $8.

No company can afford to absorb 150% plus tariffs.
I agree. But their prices didn't go up because of Trump's 145% tariffs which only recently went into effect. Plus, all freight that was on the water this week is exempt from any new Trump tariffs, including freight already on the way from China and any nations now under a 90-day reprieve.

Anker prices went up "approximately 18 percent" on about 1/5 of their products and they're doing a 20% off sale which more than offsets that price increase.

As noted by Reuters, Anker has increased pricing on about a fifth of its products since Thursday of last week. Prices are up approximately 18 percent, and there is a possibility for further increases. A power bank that was $88 is now $110, for example, and a charging station that was $250 is now $270.

Anker is still offering some discounts, and it has a site-wide sale right now for MacRumors readers. Any product on the Anker website is discounted by 20 percent with the promo code Ankermacrumors2025.

Like I said, they could have just left prices where they were on the few items that got a price increase. But then they wouldn't have been able to run a "XX percent off sale"

He's bragging about making billions with his friends, while we are hit with Tax on Tariffs and LOSING 401K and savings. Federal works losing jobs and livelihood!!!

There would be rioting on US streets long before it becomes an economical problem for China. Deprive us, the 'Merican people, of our cheap comforts for a month or so and the whole nations will be a giant dumpster fire.

It reminds me of a quote from Quark (DS9: The Jem'hadar).
"Let me tell you something about hew-mons, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time, and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes. You know I'm right, don't you?"

Yeah and American washing machines and dishwashers are terrible. And I believe Walmart through Vizio is the last American TV maker. And guess where they manufacture.

Their stuff lasts about a year and its done. I won't buy from them again after trying to get a replacement for the external battery that I bought from them died 6 months into owning it.
I had a 2-1 charging stand where the hinge for the phone part broke. They replaced it no questions asked...well, other than if I was okay receiving the newer 3-1 version of the stand. Also had them replace a surge protector with no questions asked. Was quite straightforward. TBC, I'm not trying to discount your experience, just sharing that mine has been quite different.

Is that why Speed Queen and Sub-Zero (both Wisconsin, interestingly) are always at the top of ratings? Speed Queens are built so well.

Vizio never manufactured in the USA. The last was Pioneer, but the panels were made elsewhere. CRTs were Made in America.

While I'm sure there is a good amount of greed in the price hike, that freight might not contain many items available to satisfy new orders since the items might have been sold already either to customers or retailers.

So if you need an accessory where would you buy a non-garbage product from?
Trick question? LOL, I'm in the minority on MR, buying only Apple chargers and cables directly from Apple or from an authorized brick and mortar dealer, but I probably overreacted years ago to the tear-down stories about counterfeit chargers showing the flawed designs that could pose fire hazards.
