It’s the same Chinese factory that makes his “MAGA” hats.
Why make things up? Both Cali-Fame and Ace are American. MAGA hats are even 100% USA sourced materials.

No price increase in the UK! We bought a few Anker cables this week for my wife's new iPhone 16 that had ...... gone down in price. It's going to be an interesting 4 years to say the least. Maybe Apple prices will finally equalise between the UK and the US. We've always paid far more .. and it's been nothing to do with tariffs.
The difference in price has quite a bit to do with VAT at 20% though.

It's only Friday, so are you saying that all the of the stock that was already in the US, or in a port, or on a cargo ship prior to the tariff placement has already been sold? Or are they or Amazon just adjusting the price early?

It’s normal to increment the increases over a few months so Americans don’t cry when the 145% shipment arrives and hits 3-6 months later.

It won't be until China decides to stop exporting to the US that some folks will realized how screwed we are. We depend upon exports from China for pretty much everything. It would be a veritable economic sanctions against us.

Half of us knows we hitch our wagon to the wrong horse. Hail, we were cheated by the system and brain dead MAGAts.:(
Would we have been better off kicking that can further down the road?

They can’t well raise prices by 100% once the new stock hits, so they are probably trying to muddle through somehow.

Halt exports to the US…and then be stuck with a country full of businesses who have no product to offload? The CCP is stupid, but they’re not that far gone that they’d send their own country into vast turmoil. How will they fund their belt and road if nobody’s buying their junk 😂
You make the mistake in living in the past. Chinese products may generally have been of low quality years ago but now their 10 year plan to improve quality is truly paying off. Cars, tech and even musical instruments. I'm sure you will still find some junk but do some research on their new cars and you will see there's only one way this is going to end up.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Apple did the same thing.

25% at WWDC and 75% in September. Otherwise, it would hurt all at once.

Apple seems to be trying to move as much of their US supply manufacturing to Brazil or other countries. While leaving the rest of the world’s manufacturing in China.

Not enough capacity and time. Those sites don’t have enough capacity to serve the entire U.S. market. Ramp for iPhone starts in July. Vision Pro, MacBook, Watch, iPad.

Heavy prices are coming to the U.S. for sure.

You all realize Apple will have to do the same thing right? Make fun of Anker all you want, but it’ll hurt buying a $100 iPhone case next year if this stuff doesn’t stop.

18% raise sounds generous. If things kept the way they are prices will actually jump higher, maybe not by 145% as they will definitely find a way to export them via a country in the middle, but it will definitely will.

Unless a negotiations happened, of course

So be it. Cheap stuff from China is made cheaply because it's either garbage or is done by utilizing near or actual slave labor. These sorts of things will work out and eventually find balance and I'm glad to pay more if it means we can be rid of the drop shippers, knock offs, and other garbage.

You’re stuck in the 1980s. Shockingly, a country with 4x the population has found a way to create precision machines and electronics using labor AND other precision machines. The iPhone is just one example.

Also, it’s not like there aren’t companies in the US churning out low quality stuff.

Given those two points, do you have data showing the ratio of low to high quality stuff in each country? Or are you reducing 1.4 billion people to what your feelings tell you? I’m very open to the latter, I’ve just only seen the former.

While US has an outsized share of the world’s money, I’m sure China can find a way to make do with the other 95% of the world.

The question is can the US make do with just 5%?
