Only because it's true. Apple does things others have done before them, but in a much better fashion. Remember cell phones before the iPhone? By and large, they sucked. Same for tablets. Same for ipods. Same for buying music. Same for personal computing.

Debateable and once debated we'll be left up to your opinion vs my facts, so this point is moot.

Never mind, apparently you won't be replying.

What exactly do you expect? If Apple doesn't adapt to the larger screens, people get whiny. If Apple does adapt to the larger screen trend, posts like yours happen.

I expect just that, and many more posts like this one.

True, another poster already hinted out a while ago that he will hunt down all hypocritical posters that will have changed their mind from "too big" to "perfect"... fun times at macrumors :D

Wait until you try a 4.5"+ screen with the power button on top, then you'll see what non user friendly means. The power button on the side takes about a day to get used to when you actually own the phone and don't just try it in a store, and is necessary for larger devices.
As someone who had the HTC M8 for a week before returning it due to unwieldiness and almost dropping it from everyday use more within 7 days than my entire 2+ years with my 4S, I can tell you that a power button on the top of a device which is larger than 4" is a horrible, horrible design choice. Side positioned power buttons are convenient and easily accessible, even for smaller devices. Just look at the Xperia Z1 Compact. Besides just being a gorgeous phone, it's roughly as big, give or take, as an iPhone 5/5S, and the power button is still midway down the right spine of the device. If you ask me, that would've been a better position for the iPhone 5/5S too. It's all preference, but I personally prefer them being on the side.

Really? And I thought the overwhelming consensus was that:

1. The HTC One (both M7 and M8) is a very nicely designed device.
2. The dual front-facing speakers kill anything in other flagships.

Furthermore, I don't recall too many reviews suggesting the speakers look 'embarrassingly bad'.

Perhaps the last year has all been a dream. Let me be clear: the M7 was, and M8 is, a very nicely designed device that does not look 'god-awful'. There, I said it. As many before me have.

Keep convincing yourself that large, empty top and bottom bezels and downward/sideways/rear-facing speakers are tenets of good design ;)

For me, the M8 was nice, but too tall and at 160 grams, without a cover, a brick.

I agree on the height and think it's an issue for most 4.7+ devices. They can be used with one hand but, in my experience (M7, Find 5, Note 1, 2, S4, Nexus 5) and with an average hand, the wider grip makes them cumbersome to use and requires some shifting of the device up and down in the hand to reach all corners and buttons. And once a case goes on, things get wider still.

It's for these reasons why I prefer the 4-inch 5s as it's a genuine one-handed usable device. The only other alternative I'd consider is the Z1 Compact. My second phone is 7-inches and I use it like a 5.5 inch device (two hands) so figured if I'm gonna use two hands, it may as well be a really big screen as opposed to some kind of compromised 5-incher.

That said, most people want one phone and 5-inches seems to be flagship size. I guess once people have transitioned to 4.7 or 5 inches, the road is clear for bigger still. Or put a dialer into the rMini.

Not at all. The power button is up high enough where you would rarely touch it while holding the phone. Nobody is going to accidentally power off their phone while in a phone call, especially since when holding the phone your thumb will be near the middle of the right side. It is generally the middle and ring finger along the bottom half of the left side, pinkie along the bottom of the phone and the thumb near the middle of the right side. If this was truly a problem, current Android phones wouldn't have the power button there either.

It isn't a problem for left handed people either since your hand isn't wrapping all the way around the phone. The only problem they might have is accidentally changing the volume depending on grip.

I currently have a 5" Nexus 5 and can say I have never once pressed the power button when I didn't mean to. The only time it gets pressed is if I'm turning the screen on or needing to bring up the reboot menu after installing a tweak.

My thumb on the iPhone 5S reaches the top of the phone when I'm on a call.

I really hope there isn't a power button on the side. Takes away from the icon iPhone look IMO, and I never ever fail to accidentally press it when using my friends' Galaxy phones.

Frankly, I am perfectly happy with the way the phone is now, even the bezel size.

Consider a thinning of the bezel. Hold your phone in your right palm and imagine reaching for the bottom right far corner with your thumb, if the bezel became thinner. It's nearly impossible!

Edit: Actually what I really hope for is for Apple to innovate and think beyond even having a power button. How would that work? I don't know, but if they figured that out and got rid of the power button entirely, that would be cool!

Why not incorporate it with the volume button? Or heck, get rid of the power and volume buttons. Just press/hold the home button for 5 seconds to turn it on or off. Volume can be adjusted with the slider anyway.

Oh yes indeed, I can't wait.

Truth be told, those that "say" it's too big remind me of myself when I though the iPhone or the iPad or that this or the that was too this and that and so forth.

In the end, I adapt, change my mind, move on, move back, etc.

I suspect a screen size of 4.569" will be PEEEERRRRRFFFFFEEECCCTTT.

That is most likely to happen, since there already are a lot of posters on here who think that the iPhone is too small. So I'm not really sure what point there is to prove by pointing out "I like the new screen size"-posts...

(unless of course you can single out posters who posted in 2012 "wow iPhone 5 screen is perfect size until the end of times" and then change to "wow 4.569" is perfect forever" in 2014, but I doubt that there will be enough of these posters to make this an entertaining and occupying hobby).

I'm going to be really disappointed if Apple moves the power button to the side.
It's uneconomical and not user friendly; you always end up pressing it accidently on Android phones designed like that.

Agreed! I really hope they don't move it at all. In fact, I hope the next iPhone looks nothing like what the recent rumors are saying it will... and that it won't have such a stupid name like "iPhone 6"!

Good thing I wasn't talking about the 5S then. I was talking about the larger screened phones (4.7"+)

That would suggest the volume buttons would be positioned lower as you wouldn't be able to reach it on a phone call to adjust it. And having a power button higher on the other side would look silly if the volume buttons are somewhat centered.

Hold a tiny iPhone then hold a larger phone and let us know if your hands cover the same area, lol.

I'd have to hold something that is similar in size. Just because the length has changed, doesn't mean your placement remains the same. I may have to re-position my hand higher to grasp the phone better.
