This is great

The power at the top is inconvenient with the larger phone.

Also the new power location is great for taking photos!!!!

Definitely a big plus.

I'm surprised we are seeing so much iPhone leakage, yeah we already expecting for the iPhone 6 and 'double down' must be not in Cooks plan to protect iPhones identity until release. I wonder what he really got going on in the lab over there in Cupertino. I hope a watch. I hope a maybe different phone under a completely new design & feel. Or an iMacTV, I'd enjoy that most.:apple:

Nobody wants a Mac tv

It's stupid

Just stupid

Please don't

As a note 3 users with the power button on the side, I hope Apple keeps that thing on top. Putting on the side is a total PIA. I grab my phone and end up hitting it nearly every time. Leave it on top.

I think I'd prefer the design of the device not look god-awful, and don't say it wouldn't, because it would. Those phones look embarrassingly bad with the inclusion of that.

Really? And I thought the overwhelming consensus was that:

1. The HTC One (both M7 and M8) is a very nicely designed device.
2. The dual front-facing speakers kill anything in other flagships.

Furthermore, I don't recall too many reviews suggesting the speakers look 'embarrassingly bad'.

Perhaps the last year has all been a dream. Let me be clear: the M7 was, and M8 is, a very nicely designed device that does not look 'god-awful'. There, I said it. As many before me have.

Keep convincing yourself that large, empty top and bottom bezels and downward/sideways/rear-facing speakers are tenets of good design ;)

What about Speakers?

This is a bit off topic, but does this mean we will get another mono sound iPhone? I was hoping for some improvement. We are getting a larger screen and I think that is more for multimedia / games etc... I want better sound as well.

100% summer release

No way we see these types of leaks in April when there is a fall launch

Usually these case leaks are 1-2 months before release

No way summer release, WWDC is June, that's when iOS8 is announced, that won't be ready for 3 months, the new phone, with iOS8 will be out in September, just like it is every single year, so the people who's contracts have just expired can go out and get the new phones.

I'd say the early nature of these 'leaks' is more likely to mean they are inaccurate.

And I have lost all interest in iPhone 6 now. as much as I like my 5s, I'm considering a move to windows phone or HTCs android phones. Apple has gotten stale.

Some mention due to the size of the device. May also be necessary to move it due to the change in camera optics since the camera currently sits just below the power button. Improved optics and optical image stabilization may require more space in that region meaning the need to move the power button.

Not only that, perhaps this is a result of the rumored mount for external lenses. I use external lenses with the plastic case from USB Fever. Because of the threads for the lens and the lens itself the power button is partially blocked in the current configuration.

Something I've never understood.

Who makes these cases? Any company that makes cases
Why do they make them early? So they can be first to market
What do they base designs on? Leaked drawings / Relationships with Apple suppliers
Are they in talks with Apple? Absolutely not
Are they just going on the same rumours we've seen? Yes

In other words, what does this really indicate to us? Just guesses by companies eager to get their cases to market as soon as the iPhone 6 is released? Actual concrete contracts with Apple to produce cases for the iPhone 6?
They don't indicate anything. Creating a tool for a phone case costs relatively little and they can always make tweaks to the tool as more drawings are leaked.

This is a tough call.

The button on the right poses a problem for right handed people. I feel as if I'm on a call, my grip is along the right side. I can see many people having their phones shut off mid-call. However, it makes it easier to use or put the display to sleep.
Not at all. The power button is up high enough where you would rarely touch it while holding the phone. Nobody is going to accidentally power off their phone while in a phone call, especially since when holding the phone your thumb will be near the middle of the right side. It is generally the middle and ring finger along the bottom half of the left side, pinkie along the bottom of the phone and the thumb near the middle of the right side. If this was truly a problem, current Android phones wouldn't have the power button there either.

It isn't a problem for left handed people either since your hand isn't wrapping all the way around the phone. The only problem they might have is accidentally changing the volume depending on grip.

I currently have a 5" Nexus 5 and can say I have never once pressed the power button when I didn't mean to. The only time it gets pressed is if I'm turning the screen on or needing to bring up the reboot menu after installing a tweak.

I really hope there isn't a power button on the side. Takes away from the icon iPhone look IMO, and I never ever fail to accidentally press it when using my friends' Galaxy phones.

Frankly, I am perfectly happy with the way the phone is now, even the bezel size.

Consider a thinning of the bezel. Hold your phone in your right palm and imagine reaching for the bottom right far corner with your thumb, if the bezel became thinner. It's nearly impossible!

Edit: Actually what I really hope for is for Apple to innovate and think beyond even having a power button. How would that work? I don't know, but if they figured that out and got rid of the power button entirely, that would be cool!

So you have the best phone availabe as of today, and you already lost interest?
Do you realize that both of your suggestions follow the "iterative" path?

Oh well. It's stuff like this that makes me believe that Apple shouldn't sell their phones to everybody. A simple sudoku challenge before letting someone buy the phone would do wonders. They sell too many devices.

Best phone? Subjective.
Your haughty comment requiring a challenge says a lot about your elite favoritism for Apple and who is capable of owning an iPhone.

I wouldn't say that it is even subjective. It is quite obvious to me, at least, that the iPhone is not, was not and will not ever be the "best" at anything. Ok, it probably had the best UX back in the days, but today one could easily argue for pretty much any system.

I think that what makes the iPhone so good, is that even though it isn't best at anything, it is still one of the best at pretty much anything, it is nice to use and it looks good.

Yes, I have this stupid idea that not everybody should be allowed to have cars, high end technology, guns or even dogs without some qualifications.

People that have exactly 0 use or understanding about a high end phone shouldn't have one. Criminals and irresponsible people shouldn't be allowed to drive. Same with dogs.

But that's only my opinion, and it is worth 0 in the great scale of things, I know.
