Next big Apple thing needs to be tap the emblem communicator, with Siri A.I.
Ala Next Generation. Ever notice how science fiction movies/programs predict future. Hope they wrong with all the after apocalypse movies in last few years.

That makes sense. Remember when you had to put that little sensor in your shoes for a pedometer?
Now they'll put a sensor on your shirt for Siri. Wait...we should patent this before Apple.....crap, too late.

Don't the Airpods fit what you are describing?

the new W1 chip
5 hours of battery from a device so small (Samsung's new earpods last 1 hour before needing a recharge)

I'm sure the quality of sound from the airpods won't be anything amazing but it's a start no?

A forum member posted yesterday on the front page article on MacRumors reference the Airpods and stated they sound far better than the wired EarPods. It sounds like he was beta testing them.

I'm willing to pay $150 to get the comfort of the earpods without the wires to begin with but if the audio quality is much better that's a plus.

It's too bad they were delayed. I will have to keep a close watch when they release. I think I will like them for my needs.

They could have been a start. However they should have been an option pre-jack removal. The W1 is not and not likely to be any kind of a standard. Cost vs. sound is tbd.

Don't underestimate Apples influence on the tech industry. There are already W1 Bluetooth earphones out there now that aren't Beats branded.

Secondly, Apple's EarPods fit very comfortably in my ears (may not for others). I can wear them for 5 hours easy with no discomfort. That's more important to me than how they look. The ability to charge them while they are in the case is just a bonus.

We'll have to wait and see what sound quality is like.

Let us know. While they are not what I would buy, I am interested in the tech. However, knowing Apple's penchant for control and "sudden" changes, I don't see Apple allowing the W1 becoming an industry standard nor other's knowing Apple's history adopting the same as a standard.

Well, with the MBP announcement by Apple, one thing is clear. The dongle is their fee income, just like the banks.

I have bought 22 different Apple computers (yes, I counted) and between me and my wife we bought 13 iPhones. I was a diehard Apple fan once, before Apple became the juggernaut that cares little about anybody but themselves. It's sad to say, but I'm done. I will not spend another dime to support Apple, the dongle idiocy, and the form over function drive. Probably my last post here.

Shame on you Apple, Tim is a horrible follower to Steve's legacy.

Steve's administration didn't always go smoothly, either.

Antennagate. "Just avoid holding it in that way."

The Apple Lisa. Macintosh TV. The Apple III. The Powermac g4 cube.

That's a huge loss to Apple and their evil empire.

I like how people think they are owed something because they've bought "so many apple products in the past". I used to hear it all the time when i worked there. all i would think in my head is "great good for you". good thing i left that place a long time ago.

Yep, I would be p|ssed as hell if Apple made me loose my dongle.
How is it Apple's fail that you lost your dongle?

you guys carry your 3.5mm dongle around with you?

All the 7 owners I know either use the supplied headphones or use wireless. I'm yet to meet one that carries that dongle with them incase case someone wants to plug legacy headphones into thier phones.

Apple fail here is accessibility.

I really have no idea where my stupid dongle is, and a few times I've left home in a hurry forgetting my wireless headphones and my gym and office headphone that I have were useless.....or should I say the iPhone was useless, I had to use my iPod that I use for the gym.

My wife replaced her iPhone 6 with iPhone 7. It's been few weeks now, and as a non-techie person, here's her review: feels and looks the same, but locks up and looses signal a lot more often. She wants her old phone back. This is the first time since iPhone 3 that she doesn't like a new iPhone. I'm pretty sure she's not the only one.

Then yesterday, my 6 year old daughter wanted to listen to PBS Kids. She brings her kid headphones, aaaand fail - we already lost the stupid dongle. Had to use my 6S Plus instead.

I'm not impressed with the Intel modem, my GF got my 6S and it has superior reception to my 7. Apple dropped the ball here being greedy

So you forgetting your dongle is now Apples fault, too.

Comeon....the faithful like yourself will just buy a few spare iPhones or MacBook pros each year.... A loyal customer who has bought 22 computer and 13 iPhones.....like you want to keep those people sweet! I agree with you show them the door....

22 computers and 13 iPhones.... Are you serious.... These are the bread and butter of the followers that made Apple what it is today....

not really, what made it what it is today is the billions of iPhones/ipads/ipods they have sold over the past years. not computers.

And why should I be forced to carry a dongle?

Your completely missing the point around accessibility / use ability , short story my £1100 iPhone 7 investment has been returned to Apple and I'm back on my 6S, no stupid dongle , and superior reception . And that is what this thread is about , the first part is the crap Intel modem.

There would have been no Apple company to even launch rhe iPod, let alone the iPhone, had it not been for the loyal user base who bought the computers. Do some research

lmao. ok buddy. whatever you think. they wouldn't have billions if it wasnt for those products. they would still be a company no one really noticed other than a few people, and you wouldn't see the mac's that have come out in the past 7 years and most of their other computer line up without the money they've made from them. i know the history, i've worked there, i've repaired products. i'm sure you never saw an apple store more than 12 years ago with wooden floors when they actually sold software and books (and not what they sell now which is just ms office and a few other things)

Doesn't even matter even if I bought 22 computers and purchased 13 iPhones.
That's not even a drop in the ocean...

Devastating news for Apple I'm sure and all over a little dongle?

you bought the phone knowing it didn't have a headphone jack and then complain?

My intel iPhone 7 is amazingly fast.

The headphone dongle was an annoyance , for the times I left my wireless headphones at home, not a huge issue......the reason I returned it, my 6S had superior reception. Tested side by side.
