Another Leak Points Towards Controversial Square Camera Bump on All Three 2019 iPhones

Seems like for the first time, Engineering won this round vs Design.
So, I'm thinking there would be a bigger battery along with a bigger, more capable antennae system if that's the case.

Chill guys, this arrangement was lifted straight up from triple turret camera design.
You may say this is an ugly or POS design, but I'm sure around December 2019 the majority of you all will think it's a great arrangement.

I think the triple camera arrangent looks futuristic.
Happens every year.

It does not look bad but the biggest problem with XR is mass (too heavy), width (shall be the same as in XS model) and wide LCD bezels (that scream: "Do not buy!"). In case of coming XS model I hope that Apple decide to offer old Space Gray color option like in iPhone 6s (current is Black not Gray and there is no something between) and replace awful shiny silver bezels with matte.

Does an iPhone really need this kind of camera technology? 99% of their customers are only interested in taking selfies.

The square bump is a terrible design. The proportion of it is off putting and completely unbalanced. We keep seeing closeups, but it becomes increasingly more offensive when you see the entire device.

Why does it even need a single bump area for all lenses? Would look better with every lens on their own bump.

My god this render is ugly and pray its not true. I mean just a big freaking square. I love how Samsung has their horizontal stack and its almost flush. Time to go Jon Ivy.

Same was said about the X camera module. It was mocked for looking like a traffic light , now it's a non issue.

Non issue as in Apple sales are slowing and people are not replacing their iPhones anymore. Tim Cook seems to think that this is due to saturation. For me it is not. I would have upgraded long ago but the 6s has a headphone jack and does EVERYTHING I need it to. I hate that the camera on it jets out, what a stupid f*cking design flaw. Seriously Apple, get rid of the bumps and give us decent battery life!

With that said, I want a smaller phone, these things are ridiculous. If you want people to use their phones less, stop trying to make them into tiny home theatres, they will never meet that need. Let Asia buy their giant phones and give the rest of us good decent technology like you used to!

Not even going to talk about Apple Greed and Shareholder c*ck s*cking.

Personally, I would prefer that the phone's overall thickness equal the camera's requirements and that it be made of a material that doesn't require a case for protection.

Looks like Ive and team are really killing it in the design department - broadly the same iPhone 6 design, for the 5th year in a row.

Not buying this POS design. Wow that's hideous. iPhone 6 camera is good enough for most idiots posting their narcissistic selfies to social media sites. Smartphone filters and simulations requiring sophisticated software and huge camera bumps are laughable to those of us who engage in real photography with real cameras. The best photography on Instagram isn't made with smartphones. The platform's entire raison d'être has been undermined with professional photo shoots using tens of thousands of dollars in real photographic equipment with a talented photographer behind the lens.

Well give you a big ol' chocolate chip cookie...

I don't mind the camera positioning at all - but that bump has got to go. It never should have existed to begin with. Make the phone slightly thicker. Fill that space with battery... or nothing at all. A "luxury" device doesn't look like this, and nobody cares how "thin" it is with a big ugly bump poking out of it like that. I don't understand Apple's logic here.

I see no reason why they wouldn’t continue selling the XS/Max at a discounted price.

At any rate, I wouldn’t be purchasing from Apple anyway. I was referring to the price drops that spread throughout private sale sites (such as the MR marketplace and Swappa) after a new phone is released.

In my opinion, and I do hope I am wrong, the premium tier will not remain for more than a year as it would cannibalise their « budget » model.

I think, and I’m only speculating, they will keep the old XR in the lineup, they will do away with the 7, and completely remove the XS line as they did with the X last year.

This way you will have:
8/8Plus as the cheapest (like 7 is now)
XR (2nd tier, what 8 sits on now)
XR (new model)
XS (new model, or whatever they decide to call it)

Personally I would like for Apple to lower the price of the phones. This would allow them to stay relevant, while selling a ton. Imagine XI starting at $699 and XI Max at $799. Wishful thinking, but they would sell at ton at the price.

They are too greedy to do that, plus those who buy their overpriced models do a very good job at finding all sorts of explanations and excuses to justify their €1000+ purchase

So no, it won’t happen. The INSANE pricing is here to stay.

They are here to stay TIL they stop selling

Granted volume is down but they are still selling millions and millions of each
