That's always an idea. I had my 2G with a cracked screen for over two years. And it kept getting worse and worse. It still worked though. I waited for the 4 to be released and now you can be sure I always know where it is and don't drop it.

Lots of people I know put their phones in their shirt pocket, and most of them I wouldn't classify as a dork.
Add me to that list.
Perfect place for it, and it doesn't get in the way, you can always hear it ring and get to it quickly, etc.

Apple will help you out. Make an appoinent, pay the one time $199. fee, and you'll walk out with another iPhone 4.

The worst part is I'm willing to bet they replace it with a phone loaded with 4.1 on it.

I don't have Apple Care, but I would assume a free replacement is on a case by case basis.

Agree, kinda harsh.
The Apple genius replaced a scratched and failing screen on my iPhone 3g 18 months after purchasing it for free while I waited. It took about 5 minutes or less. Very decent of them. He just took a look at it and said, "let me replace this screen" and it was done.
So it doesn't hurt to ask. In my experience, Apple seems to support their products better than most companies do.
If you have multiple Apple stores in your area, and one store refuses to fix it for free, try another store.

I hope yours goes as well as mine just did. I had a cracked screen, and just went in. They replaced it for free. Amazing customer service from Apple.
Y'all are giving me some hope that I may get my iPhone 4 screen replaced for free. I ain't expecting it, as it's my own damn fault that I dropped the phone and shattered the screen. I'll make my genius appointment, be prepared to pay the $200, but will walk out full of happy if somehow it gets replaced for free

I wanted to cry.
Called my carrier ( I have a $20/month insurance) and they will replace it without a fee!!!
Happy camper once more.
The only problem is the micro sim. I can´t use my old 2G while waiting for a replacement, well, I can´t use any of my old phones.
I´ll be without a phone and that´s bad for business when you are a freelancer

did you try to speak with a manger? that usually works..but you can always try a different store.
Didnt ask as it was wayy to busy in there, im going to try again some other day. Gonna try a couple times before i drop 200
