Here in Dubai, went to the store yesterday after giving up on the new iMacs and decided to buy the old model.. suffering with an imac core2due.. the apple store was out of all imac models, 21" and 27", i asked when they expect to get some.. i was told that they are not getting them anymore and that the new ones are on the way.... i asked for a specific date ( but got no reply) but my guess is veryyyyyy sooooooon...

No it isn't. You know very little about United States law - starting with the fact that there is no federal regulation of retail store policy. Stores have every right to not accept returns.

They know as much as you and I do.

Over at cult of mac they are reporting shortages of mac minis if this helps maybe an immediate update is near. However I am just watch this year not buying still have another years worth of warranty on my iMac.

Good. Hopefully that means they refresh those as well as they are in need of an update (though, it would just be internals since the current model is still a 'new' design).

It's a report copied from another that came yesterday (can't remember where it was from though) : it mentioned iMacs too, but it was just BS

I went to the new apple store in bromley yesterday.....(absolutely packed!!!) anyway spoke to sales guy and he was telling me the 27 imac i was looking at was the new machine....i questioned him re 2012 model and he was admanat this was the new machines - It was the top spec granted, 3.4 ghz, 17 proc--etc but is was still the 2011 model!! They have got some in stock though..

i started to doubt my self - he was either really not up to date with his info or just lying to try to get me to buy the machine!!

... I didn't realise there is an Apple Store in Bromley, now?!

I was in Bromley today but didn't see it (must be at the far end of the Glades, top floor?).

I have questioned for YEARS why Apple hadn't put a store there. I know they will sell bundles as Bromley and the surrounding areas are fairly affluent.

Anyway, I too am waiting for the iMac refresh before I pull the trigger. I'll be buying it from the online store, though, as I will want to upgrade certain aspects of the machine.

A tip for ALL ... do not pay the £240 that Apple wants for 16 gigs of ram. Instead, go to http://www.crucial.com/uk/index.aspx and get it for £59 instead ;-)

Now then ... liven up with these new iMacs, Apple!

Apple store? Dubai doesn't have one. There are many retailers stocking mac products out there but no apple store.

If one doesn't have any doesn't mean the others don't.

Microcenter nearly out of iMacs?

Microcenter only has the 21" available online and their store in KS has none.

Also Best Buy appears to have limited quantities and mostly at brick n mortar - not available online. So the rumors of an Oct refresh may ring true still.

I can't believe that we're getting far enough along that we're in the beginnings of the "Well, yeah it just came out, but how much longer until Haswell?" phase.

really?!

This is just from the people that believe Intel when they say Haswell is in the spring. And don't realize that Haswell is primarily a mobile release anyway.

that´s a general rule US stores have to follow - not Apple. It´s not a global thing. Here in Norway, when you buy something in the store you have no rights to swap it in. Once you exit the store, you bought it and that´s that. So, I assume this rule doesn´t apply in UK either (?)

btw, yes its a good sign btw that new models are coming soon.

It is a policy US stores often *choose* to follow, but it certainly isn't a rule. If you purchase something and that something is not defective in any way, then a store is perfectly within its rights to refuse a return.

Few do, but they could.

Apple UK Online have been showing all iMacs in stock for ages now but just noticed that they have gone to "Dispatched in 1-3 Business Days". Just about everything else in the store is showing as "in Stock".

Hoping to revisit the store early next week and see "NEW" against them all :)

I think that's the same with all online Apple stores now.

The arrival of the 2012's does seem imminent

US Apple store is still showing "In Stock" for base models. But BTO times are 5-7 or 7-10 depending on what you change, and that certainly hasn't been the case for a long time.

Also, 50% of my nearby Apple stores have no top 27" in stock.
