Is there really not a better way to allow for the signal to escape out of the phone? I'm sure this has been discussed a lot, but the bands are terrible looking. I'm actually a bit surprised that they've been present for so many iterations of the iphone.

Is there a reason why the bands have to be a different color than the rest of the case? If not, can we all agree that other manufacturers have presented the bands in a much more elegant fashion, such as HTC?

I've never paid any attention to them
I look at the front of my phone, not the back
And those with a case (not me) never see them anyway
Now if all cases came with duplicate band markings.........think about it.........LOL

Once every couple months I remove my black Apple leather case to clean any debris and look at the antenna lines for a minute or two, then put the case back on. Come to think of it, last time I forgot to look at the lines. Mostly I look at the screen, more stuff happening there.

I would rather see the bands that have poor RF. RF is everything and us iPhone users have been through the "you are holding it wrong" thing before.

My thin surface case from Sedio hides the back so I do not care if the do MORE bands.

Maybe the the all glass 8 will have no bands.

Suggest Apple make a shattered glass pattern effect on the all glass iPhone 8. This way when you drop it and a crack or two more appear, it won't even show. Sort of pre cracking the case. This might actually look pretty good as opposed to an all smooth pristine back where the first imperfection will cause nashing of teeth by so many.

When I take delivery of a new car, I always take a stone and throw it at the car. Putting the first ding in it upon delivery saves me from days or weeks of anxiety worrying about when that first chip or ding will happen.

The antenna bands are the most hideous aspect of the iPhone 6/6S design along with the protruding camera. No thought was put into the design. And not only are they so obviously thick, they aren't even color matched with the body. It makes what would have been a nice phone a piece of design trash. iPhone 7 will possibly still keep the bands, it too will be design trash in that case. Apple design trash era 2014 - 2017.

Fingers crossed someone at Apple with any genuine interest in clean pure design will veto this rubbish in time for an all new model in 2017.

Steve Jobs would not have accepted this nonsense.

Apple needs to get some design standards back in practice. Total rubbish.

The grotesque Apple... Ok for nature's fruit, not ok for my devices.

Agreed on the cracked glass!

It was on the way home in my new SUV that a rock hit the windshield! It left the smallest mark and I will live with it!:)

From the looks of your iPhone, you should not care anyway!

You actively attempt to damage your own vehicle?

Agreed, must really beat on the phone. I don't do anything special, and my phone looks brand new after a year. Use it constantly, but not as a hammer.

Why put myself through hours, days perhaps weeks of anxiety knowing and waiting for that first damage, dreading it. I just get it over right away, no worries and drive off knowing the next stone hitting my car is no big deal,

It's not like there is a perfect car or device anyway. If I look hard and long enough I will find some imperfection. Like too short to obsess over such nonsense. Hell my body isn't perfect either. And all those perfect movie star actresses I used to desire turned out to all have flaws now that I got my 4K tv. Perfection is a marketing illusion some of us have been brain washed into believing and desiring.

Hell, without imperfections we wouldn't even be here. Evolution can not function if everything replicates perfectly. Flaws are what make the universe function.

Relax, you know it's gong to get damaged at some point, just don't let it be you. Enjoy your shiny new toy in all its shininess!
I hope you meant you throw it at the tyre and it just bounces off and you're feeling better and the car is looking sweet! :D

LOL at "rubbish, design trash, hideous, grotesque"
Cute rant, just don't do that out in public or people will stare :)

I like the idea of the cracked glass back
Instead of a pristine look... make it like pre-washed jeans with rips and such
Kids love those don't they?

And just think, when you take your phone into a genius, he/she can truthfully say, "it came that way from the factory"

Actually, the more beat up the jeans are, the more expensive and exclusive they are
Apple could do this and charge a premium for phones that look beat up

Fact 1: the bands are needed, otherwise they wouldn't be there.
Fact 2: the bands could never have exactly the same colour as the case because the materials are completely different.
Fact 3: bands with almost the same colour as the case would be a) very ugly and b) a dishonest design, trying to hide necessary elements (and failing at that). No designer of Ive's calibre would ever do a thing like that.

Result: the current design. You may not like it, but it is honest and unapologetic.

Maybe include a free beats head phone with every beat up iPhone. Hey ..... Pay me for that catchy marketing phrase Apple. You heard here first.

Then get a damn Android phone and stop whining.

My S7 edge has no bands and got good signal.

However I must say the 6s plus has a better signal at work than my S7 edge.

My iphone is in a case as all my phones are so mute point to most users about bands.

No, Apple can correct their rubbish mistake and get back to pure design. "get a damn Android phone and stop whining" is just a way for you to dismiss my critique without adding any meaningful discussion.

I don't really get the fixation with the antenna bands. When I look at the back of the iPhone all I see is a phone that's been made far too thin for the camera that's trying to escape from it.

The S7 has a glass back which doesn't block radio signals like the aluminum of the current iPhones does. iPhone 4 also had a glass back and no antenna lines on the rear.

Oops, hit a nerve there. Bring back pull out antennas. I bet, those antenna line will become mighty popular. I got good signal strength with my pull out antennas on flip phones.

Good thing people like you are not in charge at Apple. If you made a flagship phone that would be thick enough to have a flush state of the art camera, you couldn't give it away, much less sell it at a premium. There is a reason all the android flagships have camera bumps, too. Get used to it or buy a non-flagship with a rubbish camera; those are your only options.

The front is glass, put Ariel wires in the front glass.
maybe use whole back for cellular and put wifi in front glass.

then stop people moaning.

however myself I dont see an issue.
most people put phone in a case!
