IVI Pro no longer works in Mavericks, simply hangs and then crashes or needs a forced quit!!!

Anyone else seeing this one?

Loving Safari - but the wireless perf is not as I expected on a 2012 15" rMP

Pitsy

Definitely same with me. Really sad because this was the perfect solution. Now the program constantly crashes

Bad News for Second Life users

The new version of Firestorm will not install on Mavericks because it is not signed -- apparently a dispute between LL and Firestorm. However, there does not seem to be a working version available for download. Older versions will work (without sound) if you already have them installed.

Other OLD viewers seem to work but without sound.

The current Linden viewer works but without full screen or sound. There also seems to be a download problem. Generally broken.

Generally speaking, Mavericks is NOT recommended for Second Life fans.

Wait. Second Life is still a thing that exist?

BetterZip 2 has some issues in Mavericks. Zip compression works just fine, but trying to create a GZipped TAR archive fails - the "Compressing" dialog never displays, and BetterZip writes 20 bytes of archive then stops.

well, some RAR archive can not be expanded with better zip ... works perfectly with Winrar in windows though !

Netbeans is broken (tested versions 7.3 & 7.4): Corrupting all files on network shares by appending multiple null's

That's because BetterZip's support for RAR archives isn't perfect. I'd give Keka or The Unarchiver a try as alternatives - The Unarchiver is free.

Re: Bias Peak

Bias Peak 5.2 seems to be broken on Mavericks - throws an error saying another copy is running on the same machine... Deleting preferences makes no difference and, of course, Bias is now dead (no doubt partly because of their terrible DRM!) so no recourse... Peak 6 now works (but can't transfer the license because the authorization server has gone). Sigh...

I am having the same problem with Peak Pro 5.2 (says there is another copy already running) so at least it's good to know it's not just me.

But according to the Bias Inc. home page, "The BIAS Authorization Manager Server is functioning for authorizing and de-authorizing BIAS products at this time." Hope that helps. Now I will have to see if I can find someone selling a copy of v6. Or better yet, find an app I can switch to that is still being developed & supported.

Camtasia 2 Working

A while back I noted that Camtasia 2 was not compatible with Mavericks and the developers confirmed this.

TechSmith recently released a Mavericks-specific update, Camtasia v2.6.0, and so far it seems to be working well.

Has Anyone Gotten These To Work With Mavericks?

NetNewsWire 3.3.2
Juice 2.2

NetNewsWire 3.3.2 installs but won't connect to feeds that work in Snow Leopard.

Juice 2.2 appears to install but click on its icon and nothing happens.

Has anyone been successful in getting these apps to work with Mavericks?
If not, any recommendations for equivalent apps that will work with Mavericks?

wrldwzrd89 - I've been using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.5.3 with Mavericks with no problems.

Thanks for the CCC report. Appreciated.

I'm pretty sure this isn’t working anymore. That notice dates from when the site first shut down. I've tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing software with the Bias app and haven't been able to get it to work. This means, of course, that their terrible DRM is in place and effectively stops you moving the software to another machine. :(

Hey Dharma Rascal, the Bias Authorization site is working for me as I've only got one authorization left (one of them was probably used on a very old computer which I think I might still have in storage) and I have successfully deauthorized one computer and authorized a different one. I've gone back and forth a couple of times so it seems to be up. Authorize now while you still can!

I was also able to get Peak Pro 5.2 to work to work in Mavericks. The trick is to turn Wi-Fi before launching Peak -- crazy, I know!! Once it launches you can go ahead and turn it back on if you need the network. (I'm not using a LAN to connect to the internet on this particular computer so if you're connected via LAN then you may have to unplug your ethernet cable, too.) I don't know why this works but it does. But one day it will just cease to work altogether at which time I'll probably migrate over to Audacity.
