Still undecided atm.

Have been a part of a family plan since it's an amazing deal (subsidized upgrades every 2-years and unlimited data+min for only $40/mo after employee discount)... but I have been wanting my own plan/account along with texting for awhile now. Might just take the ETF waiver this Feb and split to Cricket wireless with their $35/mo plan.

I don't know man. Going from AT&T to cricket to suffer the terrible sprint network, save $10 and lose over $450 in subsidy doesn't sound like it's worth it to me.

Staying for sure. As annoying as the price hike is, an extra $5 isn't going to break the bank. I just hope that this does not become a trend for AT&T.

Just upgraded from a 5s to a 6s+ two weeks ago at BestBuy. I had unlimited data since 2007, but since I retired a few years ago, it's mostly a waste. Checked my account and I have not used more than a few hundred MB a month for the past year.

I read the MR article that predicted the $5 increase before upgrading, so it just seemed like a good time to change plans. I also still had the original 450 minute phone plan and separate text plan. I switched the the 2GB mobileshare plan and it is going to save me a lot, almost enough to cover the ATT Next payment on the new phone.

If I really needed the unlimited plan then the $5 increase wouldn't have made me drop it. But the increase was a good thing for me actually, because it finally got me to take a closer look at my package and adjust it to fit my current usage.

Keeping my UDP as long as it's available to me. $35 for unlimited is a steal compared most data plans. Since I use 30 to 40+gb every cycle UDP, it's beneficial to me since I don't have to monitor my usage and worry about overage costs... or hog data from others in a share plan. However, those that use less than 10gb, I think tiered/shared plans might be cheaper and more beneficial to them... probably not worth holding on to UDP.

I'll stay. I've never rly used much, but I've been seeing it go up bit by bit. Plus, the peace of mind is worth any hassle.

FWIW, my old 24 month contract with unlimited data cost a total of $1800 ($75/mo). With the $5 increase in the unlimited plan that would go up to $1920 ($80/mo). My new 2gb mobileshare plan is $1320 over a 24 month period ($55/mo). And even if I need to switch to a mobileshare plan with more data, I should still come out ahead. It's also nice to have the personal wifi hotspot now (which would have been an expensive add-on to the unlimited plan).

Of course, if you use 30 or 40gb per month, unlimited makes sense. How do you manage to use that much BTW? :)

Even though it still sucks having an increase in price $5 is not enough for me to ditch unlimited data. If it was $20 like Verizon then I'd be gone fast.

Not me. I'll happily pay the extra $20 a month for ny unlimited data plan. If I were to switch/change plans I'd be paying out over $850/month for data.

Just enjoying my phone. I steam a lot of video... YouTube, sports, movies, tv shows... and stream a lot of radio or music. Also, I upload and share a lot of files in mediafire from my phone. I never have wifi on... and battery efficiency is better not having it search for a wifi signal. I've connected to so many slow public wifi where I would have to turn it off anyway... so I just leave it off. 30 to 40gb is nothing compared to some people on here. I don't stream constantly everyday... just a few days in my cycle where I stream heavy. It's pretty nice taking my wife to the bay in the evening overlooking the San Diego skyline on date nights, and streaming a movie on the car dash screen... or stream live sports while my wife is shopping... and not worrying about data overage. Data usage will increase because everyone wants higher resolution screens, pictures, movies... etc... with each new generation phone. When gamestreaming catches on in mobile devices, and as phones increase in resolution every generation, upload/downloads will increase. People who had UDP... might regret leaving their plan someday.

How much is everyone's bill for your unlimited? Just curious. I have 2 extra lines that I will be cancelling. With my 2 main lines left, and the price increase in Feb, my bill will still be about $160-170.

My bill is $171..
I have 3 lines, one soon to be $35 unlimited, a $25 2gb, and a $30 3gb
700 minutes family talk with rollover, got them to throw in the 10 A-list numbers .. So about 6000 rollover minutes that will never get used. $20 unlimited m2m and texting.
I've never paid the upgrade fee on new phones and they've given me plenty of free money.
I've been happy with AT&T ... I'd put my other lines on unlimited if I could!
I'm not going anywhere

I pay about $62 for a single line after my FAN discount and taxes.

Very misleading saying ur 2gb plan is $55/month when that doesn't include equipment monthly installment fees. So I guess if you plan on buying cheap phone or keeping phones for 3-4 years it's cheaper than ur subsidized $75-80/month plan.

But u add back that $27-35/Month iPhone fee. U lose all your savings.

I dunno, I guess it depends on your point of view. This is what my old 24 month contract with unlimited data and a 32gb 5s cost me for 24 months.

$ 300 - Down payment for 32gb iPhone 5s
$1800 - $75 unlimited data, voice and text plans for 24 months
_____
$2100 - total cost for phone and service for 24 months

I upgraded to a 128gb 6s+ with Next and 2gb mobileshare, and this is what it will cost over the next 24 months.

$ 0 - No down payment for phone
$1320 - $55 2gb Mobile Share plan for 24 months
$ 768 - $32 installment payment for 128gb iPhone 6s Plus for 24 months
______
$2088 - total cost for phone and service for 24 months

The $5 increase in unlimited data would add another $120 over the course of 24 months if I kept the old plan. I can see why some people want to keep unlimited data, but I just wasn't using it and this seemed like a much better deal. I upgraded to a 128gb 6s+ and it's going to cost basically the same as I paid for a 32gb 5s over the past two years.
