I've since looked at one of the Cabrio's up close; the opening at the bottom of the one I examined was every bit as gynormous as Alan's. I sent an email to their CS, the jist of which was if the Book model had the same butchered opening, they could cancel my order as well. No reason I can fathom to cut a slot that big and continue it up the back of the case.

There could be a case for misleading advertising. Their homepage shows the cabrio with no such cut out at the back. In my opinion, while it does allow easy docking, the cut out is just too bad and defeats the "premium" feel of the case. After a week of useage, I fee like the sides are "widening" and there is a feeling that the phone could pop out of the case (it hasn't happened yet).

The one I looked at, you could dock the space shuttle, no problem :D

I'm waiting on an item from a company that isn't particularly well known in the U.S. and should have it in my hand early next week. If the specs match the merchandise, they'll sell a boatload at about a quarter of what Calypso is charging.

Link? Pictures?

So nobody else revieved theirs yet? Or any update from CS regarding the cutout?

In my last email to Calypso, I expressed concern about how high up the back of the case the opening was cut and how sloppy it looked. This was the reply I received from Manca:

"Some small modifications on the CalypsoCase Cabrio and Book were necessary due to bottom shape of iPhone 6. Lower portion is cut out right on the end of headphones jack so you can use it while wearing the case."

Since it was obvious I wouldn't be receiving the same case pictured on their web site, I joined the chorus and cancelled my order. A damn shame too; butchering premium leather like that. :(

I just received mine today. Here are the pics. Rest of the images are to be continued in the next post

Thanks for the detailed pictures. Congratulations; those pics don't look anything like the Cabrio I examined, or the orange Cabrio that was posted in this thread. Looks like you won the luck of the draw:cool:

Are you happy with your purchase?

No, I can't say that I'm happy with what I've gotten. Here are my observations:

The edges of the phone are sharp. One would reasonably expect the edges to be rounded like Vaja or at least buffed down. A bit disappointing here.

The case fit is loose - If you place the phone face down near the edge of the table and with your thumb try to gently lift the cover up, the case comes off. hopefully I can get some shots of this "defect" and post it here for you guys to see. I am not sure if this is a one-off issue with my case, or if other Cabrios/Books in the series have this flaw. This alone renders the case unusable. I would have been better off with Vaja honestly.

Alinefx who posted photos of the Orange Cabrio said his was very loose as well a couple pages back. Sounds like a defect in the design… the case looks like it doesn't really wrap around the edges of the iPhone at all like most cases do --- and just relies on the suede looking inside material to hold the iPhone in?

There is no excuse for sloppy workmanship at this price-point. I'm very sorry to hear about your experience. When I was congratulating you, it was for getting one that did not look like Alinefx's hacksaw opening:D

Earlier in this thread, I mentioned the cheapest option I found for return; in the US, the postal service. My local postmaster calculated shipping back to Slovania at about $40.00; including tracking and delivery confirmation; it's cheaper without those two options. But given some of the things these folks have pulled, I'd want my bases covered. And I'd encourage you to return it.

For whatever it's worth, the loose grip, hacksaw opening and slippery feel (it's the first time a phone has slipped out of my hand and fell in a bowl of soup) is why I stopped using it. Guess it's good for the one off opera or snotty party but that's about it.

Hey scruffy, do you have any pics of your iphone in the case? I'd be interested in seeing some.

That really sucks that it is $40 return shipping as the cheapest option.

Not sure how often you were planning on removing the phone from the case, but maybe a simple strip of 3m adhesive would be a safer gamble than going through a whole return process attempt? That doesn't really address the agar edges, though.

Overall, it was not worth it. specially after seeing the "differences" in each single case (some openings larger than others). The worst thing is the slipperyness - I almost lost a $600 phone due to a case - not worth it. Sorry calypso case. Good marketing, bad finish and lousy shipping speeds. 4/10.

err, yes. for the 6 plus. does that put me way down the pile of products likely to be delivered this side of christmas?!

Expecting delivery of the calypso book today or tomorrow (having ordered 15/Sept). Happy to post pics if anyone is interested?

Would love to see some of the book... haven't found any yet. Thanks

photos attached. more in second post. quality good, but the shell could do with being a bit snugger around the handset. it won't fall out, but is very easy to remove. overall am pleased.
