Just a FYI regarding week 51; DLXLW

No image retention or bleed, but some tone shift from cool to warm. As with all the other reports I have seen, this is towards the home button. (Where is the backlight on these things? Perhaps this relates to the location of the backlight?)

Kind of on the fence regarding returning. My guess is that if you look close enough, most screens will have a degree of tone shift.

As per other tread of mine ur screen looks to have blue tint. Look at the keyboard on the right it's very noticeable. Hopefully my replacement will be better.

I would recommend a bullet to the head, pronto. Just kidding. Why don't u google it. Internet is a great resource for this sorta thing.

Just look it up on ur beautiful apple product with the lovely and graceful screen

Do you seriously consider that a defective display ?

We need a Cheers smily. But in lieu of this I will use

Not a compulsive returner. I think out of all of my MacBooks, 5 iPhones, 3 iPads and who knows how many iPods, I returned 1 iPhone 4 because I bought into the other OCD subject of battery life (and even then I admit I was wrong--it is, of course, usage pattern that defines battery life in 99.99% of the cases).

What I do like is to see what range to expect to help me make an informed decision that I am happy with.

I will admit that I work at a company where one of our main products is, essentially, 35 different shades of white. So might bias me a little.

PS: I am not sure taking photos of backlit screens is the best approach in the world. The photos that I have taken exaggerate the color differentiation.

I agree that photos can misrepresent the actual screen, but in the photo I see a blue tint on the right and a slightly yellow or warmer area on the left. I would return/exchange but if it looks better in person that would be up to you. There are good screens out there so if you aren't completely happy with it I would try again. And yes I am picky but not OCD - that is a disease that I doubt few if any here would be able to diagnose.

Well said. And yes i could clearly see the blue tint on mine too.

I've become very anal about my screens and if you look for issues you'll find them - or at least I can in any device. Strangely, Amazon Kindle HDX wins the booby prize for the worst screens.

It makes me sad cuz, my god, what a nice product and good workmanship and quality and u have people abusing the system badly and driving up price for us all. I mean, when I look at this display and think just a year ago I was using a crappy hp that became so hot for the first time ever I thought about my personal safety around an electronic device, no joke. But that's mainly cuz I will just end up going to sleep reading some ebook off the comp. ever since I can remember. Point is, these people should not be allowed more than one return or possibly two. If apple banned me from buying the mini cuz I already bought it and returned it that is completely fair to me

In fairness, these highly irrational people are sending the retina minis back which means rational folks can pick up a product in the refurb store that has never seen any real use. Think about it. You get a discount, you get the same warranty, and these irrational folks never even bothered to use their iPads in places we all know they go (bathroom, outside, bedside). It's a win for rational people who don't go hunting for issues.

If my iPad wasn't a gift then I would have bought refurb when I could. Nowadays it seems like a really great choice given the countless returns a single irrational person will make before they either give up or find whatever they think they were looking for. :D

A very interesting point of view :D

Where do you get the production week? My local att store has one in stock that I want to get and I'd prefer a newer build to be safe.

I'm not sure build week matters. I returned a week 45 and got a new week 43 and it's way better. I think it's just the luck of the draw.

People were trying to draw a connection with the build week but that was suspect at best.

Week does mean nothing actually but just for prediction maybe...
