Isn't it the same finish as my space grey 6S? (Which has microabrasions)

Any finish on the 6S or 7 except the new Jet black has a hardness rating higher than keys/coins etc. So it will not scratch easily. A bit of sand though WILL scratch the screen or the back. So it depends on what is in your pocket. However with the Jet black finish if you put your phone in a pocket with coins or keys...you are going to be very upset later that day!

I'm getting the JB 4.7 7. I'll be using a apple black leather case that I already have. Still waiting for the phone. (AT&T)

The case is purely because of grip. I've had a black leather case on my 6 for two years and everytime I take it off yes the phone looks great but the slippery feel is terrible and I put it right back into the case. So this makes me curious how grippy the new grip is on the JB. Probably won't feel as nice as the leather case. But if it does a few "micro abrasions" aren't going to bother me.

I'll probably leave it in the case most of the time except taking it in and out 3-4 times a week for running purposes. I'll report back when I finally get the jet black phone and let you guys know if more micro abrasions appear after taking it in and out of a case.

I played with a MB plus at my local att store (they had no JB) and yes it looks pretty cool. Just like a darker 6 or 6S and felt exactly the same. Didn't impress me as much as I was hoping. I'm still to see a JB in person but all the pictures excite me. And it's ok if I have to wipe the phone to see its shine every once and awhile. They are both great looking phones. But to answer the OP's question.... I think yes I'd feel remorse if I got MB instead of waiting for the JB if the JB is the color I wanted to begin with.

trust me, with the jetblack there is no need for a case to get that grip you mentioned.
I have the jetblack now for about 4 days in use, never ever had such a nice grippy iPhone before (had them all from 3GS to 6S).

After 4 days of use, still no visible scratches....maybe if I put it up to my nose in full bright light, but hey I am not OCD, so I wont be doing that :cool:

Heck no x 1000.

1. I'm only in it for the black face.

2. I rent my phones on Verizon's yearly upgrade plan. Don't plan on keeping the device for more than a year.

3. I put cases on my phones because when they go back to Verizon it's in pristine condition.

4. And as Apple stated it's a delicate color. If there is anything I hate the most are scratches. That being said I wouldn't even buy a used jet black because most likely your going to have scratches on it.

I was putting the apple leather case on mine regardless so black front was all I cared about

Hence the question, why even buy the jet black if you're going to hide it with a case? And don't forget that the Apple case has that silly opening at the bottom so it's going to get scratched in that area anyways.

There is no point to the debate for 11 months or so. Lets see what those naked JB's look like then. Bottom line, if you case the JB then you did not need the JB.

But those are the very scratches people are noticing.

I do prefer matte black but either way it was going in a case so black front was all that I cared about.

Ah Jet black... back to the plastic apple phones of yore (or preparation for the future glass black iPhone 8?)

Not one bit of remorse. I truly truly truly feel Matte Black is so much nicer. I hate how on the JB it's a mirror so you see all the reflections when you look at the back. Plus not to mention it gets way dirtier and easily scratchable. The MB just looks so sick it looks like a stealth phone that James Bond would use.

You forgot to mention that the matte black feels like a soapblock :)

Funny people, mentioning how stealthy their matte black iPhone looks like.......and then you learn they slap a case around it:eek:

or people think MB doesnt pick up prints or scratches. they still do just less noticeable.

i prefer the darker blacks of the jet black compared to matte black.

just like how i prefer deeper blacks on tvs

jet black = OLED
matte black = LCD where all pixels are backlit not giving true deeper blacks

About the only people who would regret their decision will I think would be those who wanted the JB version but settled for another color because their impatient. Most everyone else picked their color based on what they wanted.

Really loved the jet black in all the promo photos and it was what I wanted to begin with. After a little more research I realized that the easily seen micro-abrasions and fingerprints would likely drive me crazy. I decided to go with matte black and I absolutely LOVE it. I think it's way cooler in person than in photos. I still have yet to see a jet black in person and I'm sure it'll be beautiful. No regrets, but I think both phones are very nice.

uhh i've been rocking it the past week or so without a case. i ordered a bumper to use and that should be good enough. its funny you say that though because the JB comes recommended by apple to use a case unless you like scratches ;)

I feel like iPhone buyers are a very conservative bunch - and would rather be low-key / low-risk with their expensive new gadget than most people.

A purchase as large as this one (it's like, more than 1/2 a pay cheque for ONE thing) would tend to steer people towards the more conservative/safer choice. So I would chalk that up to why there are so many more matte black buyers than JB buyers.

In my case, I really enjoy a bit of bling / shiny. I have the stainless apple watch with milanese strap, and a carved silver bracelet on the other wrist. I bang them up because things are meant to be worn/enjoyed, not babied for re-sale. I think that's the biggest difference in philosophy between the two colours, and also why there is so much discussion about which colour a person went with.

Its sort of insightful to the person's personality, with each personality type thinking the other made the "wrong" choice.

I want the jet black now for one reason alone. More grip.

I decided to go caseless for now and man I would love the extra grip. The best description that I've heard is that the jet black finish feels very similar to glass.
