Just had a try on at an apple store. I ordered the 38mm sports but when I saw it in person it looks so small. Also the width of the band itself is very small. Even the staff were like no way 38! Thinking of cancelling the 38mm preorder. I also was told there will be in store pickup starting April 24th and in store purchase as well......So I am thinking of trying my luck in store for the 42mm sports.

Damn, all you 165's are driving me nuts haha. I think I'm just going to say "screw it all" and bet on 42mm. If 38 is too small I wouldn't be able to live with that I think. if 42mm is too big I'll simply adapt...
I think 42 looks good on 165mm. I was afraid it went "over" the wrist but since that doesn't seem to be the case...

I'm gonna post my wrist pictures. I think mine is smaller than 160mm. And I still loved the way the 42mm looked and felt on me.

Any men pre-order a 38mm and then tried it on and are sticking with 38mm?

Thank you. This looks so odd. Don't get me wrong, I think 42mm fits you well, but the pics I've been seeing from the 38mm milanese make it look even bigger than the 42mm sport and suddenly yours looks awesome in a 160mm wrist... The pictures are indeed deceiving.

Years and years of waiting for an Apple Store here... I hope the next time I buy a Watch there will be a store around so I can try it! So frustrating not being able to try the Watch...

Makes sense if that's what you're after. Personally I don't want it to stand out. I think all smartwatches to date look big and dorky. I'm glad Apple was able to make one that is sized more like a traditional watch.

The thing is, everyone was going on about how it looks so much smaller in person, but in my opinion it doesn't at all.

That's may take on this too. I'm personally going to use it as a fashion device as much as a electronic gadget. If it looks out of place with the way I dress or want to look, it won't work for me. thats were the most personal comes in. Everyone has a different taste of how they want to look and what works with their style.

You are very welcome. I think you will be very happy if you stick with your 42mm choice. My wife commented that the 38mm looked way too small on me.

I do think 42mm is the way to go too. And my wrist it a bit bigger than yours and I want the sport band...

Anyways, out of curiosity, any pics with the 38mm?

I just came back from my try-on reservation at the Apple store. I have a 165mm wrist so I was originally set on the 38mm Stainless Steel Space Black model and I am sticking with that decision. The 42mm feels heavier and it just draws too much attention in a bad way (imo). I like watches to be subtle and complement the rest of an individual's outfit. The 38mm proportions are just right on a 165mm wrist and it fits under a dress shirt without issue. The 42mm looks a bit large and it's more difficult fitting it underneath a shirt's cuff naturally. Very impressed with the quality of the stainless steal series watches as well. Definitely can't wait for my pre-order to arrive.

Sadly, I forgot to take pictures, and then when I remembered she was about to put them away, so I had her just put the 42mm on me for those quick snaps. I wish I did, but in a way I'm glad I didn't cause I'd be second guessing my decision. I'm happy with the 42mm choice.

Edit: Honestly, the 38mm might fit slightly better. However, I was surprised the weight was not a concern for me. And the 38mm just seemed real small to me. I'm not exactly sure why to be honest. Maybe because I'm a computer guy, and the bigger screen just appealed to me. Maybe because the 42mm Watch wasn't that LARGE in my opinion and next to my wife who is wearing the 38mm, it just looks right.

I would always be second guessing my 38mm decision and saying man I could have pulled off the 42mm. I don't think I will ever say the reverse.

I just came back from my try-on. I ordered the 38mm and after trying them on I am sticking with the 38mm. I have skinney wrist and the 38 felt much better than the 42. The Milanese band felt good but so did the classic leather strap.

Hey all, stupidly and all in a clumsy fashion, I ordered the 38mm but waited a bit before ordering the 42mm.

My 38mm is my initial gut choice due to my wrist size, but everyone is saying it's real small now. I'm going to go from try on's at 5:30pm.

But I was wondering if anyone has ordered the 38mm, tried on the 38mm and 42mm, and decided to keep the 38mm because the 42mm was way too big and heavy?

Also, if they have pictures of the 38mm vs 42mm milanese on their wrist, that would rock.
I pre-ordered the 38mm last night, tried both sizes on this evening, and am sticking with the 38mm.

170mm wrists, arm width of a credit card, and both watches looked fine on my arm, but the 38mm just felt more comfortable. The 42mm felt like it was teeter-tottering on top of my arm; it was just too much surface area to rest elegantly.

Well I'm not a man and have tiny wrists -- 130 or so -- so the 42 is not an option even though I wear a 42 dive watch. That said, having looked at them in store -- both screens seem large to me. And there is not a whole lot of difference between them.

I have a leather bomber jacket that simply will not go over my dive watch at 42. My suggestion is to try the watch on with dress shirts, preferred jackets, etc. The 42 is large, but the 38 not all that much smaller.

Just saying. They are both pretty big!

No try on here, but pre-ordered the 138, and after reading this thread I am not second guessing my decision at all.

To each their own, but to my eye, the pictures of the 142's in this thread look proportion-wise like someone holding an iPad to their head to make a phone call...

Ordered the 38mm space gray sport model and I'm sticking with it after my try on appointment this evening. Here is a picture of the 38 mm model in SS on my wrist and I believe it is the perfect size. Also I thought I would like the chrome finish of the SS more than the space gray, but the combination with the curved glass made it feel "too shiny". I have SS watches already, but they don't stand out as much as the SS Apple watch did.

Wrist sizes?

Same for me. Many will tell the 42mm look too big on your wrist. But that is on the pictures. In real life, it looks fine.

So I cancelled my 38mm and go with 42mm after trying it in store

Yeah it's interesting. It's really about how it feels on your wrist and it did not feel overly big or heavy to me. I loved it. Whereas the 38mm did really feel kinda small for my liking.

I preordered a 38mm Space Gray Sport, and i was on the fence with everything i had read on these forums about the 38 being small. I have 162mm wrists and did the credit card test with my wrist being just about completely covered by the card. When I tried them on in store the size felt exactly the same as the paper print outs. With that being said, i could wear either really, but i definitely prefer the smaller size since i plan to use the watch when I'm running and exercising. If i wasn't going to use the watch when i'm doing these things and the fact that it'll be worn just about all day and night then i would probably choose the 42mm. All this talk about the 38 looking so much smaller or the 42 smaller than they expected, i just don't get it, did anybody else use the paper cutouts? In the end i couldn't be happier with my gut decision. If i decide the 38 is too small after some use, i'll get the 42 when the :apple: watch 2 comes out.

At my try-on appointment, the associate told me that lots of people he spoke with, both men and women, tried both and decided to go with the 38mm. He said lots of people thought they wanted the 42mm until they saw both on their wrists.

It really is a personal preference to what size you want.
I preordered a 38 but after trying them on I went 42 but now have to wait until June.
I still believe 38 is more geared towards females because I personally find the modern buckle looks feminine and comes in feminine colours. The 42 doesn't have these options.
I was confused between the two like most men on here but I went to a second fitting with my wife and she told me that the 42 suited me more. Photos don't show the height the phone sits off your wrist because of the sensor dome on the back, I find this makes the 38 look like a little box sitting on my wrist.

when I first saw them in store, on display, I thought "oh 42mm for sure." After trying them on the 38mm looked better on me.
