I pre-ordered a 38mm after trying a cut-out mock up.

I've subsequently tried them on in a Apple store yesterday and found the 42mm looked a fraction too large on my wrist so I'm sticking with the 38mm. If a 40mm one existed then I would probably have gone for that :D

I ordered 42s, but I don't know based on all the feedback. It seems most people on these forums want the 38. However, Apple surely thought the 42 was the primary product and the 38 was for those who simply found the 42 over the top for them as well as for women.

I feel Apple probably wants the average guy to use the 42. I hope I won't be disappointed.

You'll find that most people on these forums want the 42mm version.

The 38mm people are definitely in the minority.

I don't think Apple cares what size people buy. They made 2 sizes to please the largest amount of people possible. I like the 38mm even though my wrist is much larger than many people going with the 42mm, but it all comes down to personal preference and the look you're going for. I think a lot of people are convincing themselves to go with the 42mm even though it looks goofy on their wrists, just because they want the biggest and 'best' model.

To me, the 38mm is extremely impressive tech wise. It's so small for a smart watch, and is the only smart watch that matches my normal watches in size.

Just back from my try on. Whilst I didn't think the 42mm was overly big on my wrist, I did prefer the 38mm (that I preordered) a fraction more. I must admit I had a moments thought to change my order to a 42mm but i have not. I was more worried about the sports strap not fitting but the M/L sport band on the 38mm fitted me with 2 holes to spare - when I measure my wrist before it was 195mm - so not sure how that happened as it is supposed to go up to 200mm.

According to askmen they say the ideal size for a mans watch is 36-40mm.

I think it's just the trend nowadays to go bigger.

Just read that article.

The acceptable range for most male wrists is 36 to 40 millimeters, and there’s no excuse for buying larger unless you’re a sumo wrestler.

Not saying I agree, because if your wrist is over 200mm, I'd say a 42mm watch could work, but it's funny nevertheless.

This is just your opinion. When you end your sentence with this "period," you sound ignorant and closed-minded. There are other valid opinions on the planet besides yours.

I think you'll find everyone has said exactly the same thing. You cannot judge the watch in any way shape or form by photos, you have to see it with your own eyes. All these.....'i think the 38mm looks better on you' posts is just dumb as the photos offer a totally false perspective. PERIOD!

Haha yea I agree. Everyone has their own preference.

But interesting to hear watch "afficianados" say 36-40mm is most ideal.

My wrist is about the same size as a credit card so I'm starting to get nervous about my 42mm silver sport pre-order. Has anyone thought about trading with a forum member? I will probably do a try on this week and if the 42mm is too big I'd rather try to trade before waiting until June.

I'm in the same situation. Wrist is a teeny bit wider than credit card, which puts me in the "either 38 or 42 would work" category... Just hope it's like everyone is saying and they look smaller in person.

Ordered the Space Black in 38mm. Have just come back from a try on and I will be definitely sticking with the 38mm. I have 180mm wrist 60mm diameter. I have never liked big watches, my current watch is only 32mm. I wasn't going in for a try on but after seeing many posts here about the watch impressions after seeing them in real life I had my concern I may have ordered the wrong size. The 42mm was not comfortable and just looked stupid on me.

It really is interesting. I could not see myself going for the 38mm even though the 42mm is a bit large for me. To each their own :). What a great product. Can't wait to get it.

Also, I implore you to try it on for yourself. Even though the 42mm looks big, in person it felt amazing on me. Now, just gotta wait till May 13th-27th.

I pre-ordered a 38mm sport white, I actually posted an ad on craigslist looking to see if someone was interested in trading for a 42mm. I'm in-between the sizes so unless I find someone local to trade with, looks like i'm sticking with the 38mm. I have to try them on again at the apple store to be more sure with my decision

I disagree. To me, they looked just the same in person as in the photos.

I ordered 38mm after tried both sizes. No regret. 38mm is the one I want for it's more subtle look on my wrist (and I have small wrist). 42mm just screaming "nerd" on me, so no. I ordered SS White Sport Band, which is similar like the one Apple used for their Demo Guide videos.

Didn't want to Pre-Order until I was sure to try on both.

The 38mm looked (no offense to anyone) like a toy. The 42mm not only "looked" better, the both watches are so thick, it looks less odd on the 42mm since it's "bigger," plus the 42mm felt better and the screen was easier to use and utilize.

Have June shipping date, but after Graduation and a quick vacation trip in late May, will be a good way to come back home and celebrate

Someone getting a 42mm with 155 wrists /50mm with?

Wondering this as well. It seems 38mm is more natural than a 42mm on a 155mm wrist with 50mm wrist width (about what mine is). I'm thinking of cancelling my 42mm order and ordering 38mm instead.
