Just picked up an AW1 42mm in gold today with cocoa band (used). I am NOT a gold guy but it has a really classy look to it. PLUS, you don't see gold very much. I dont think i've ever seen one in person, so i like that too.

Very classy look, understated is a great way to describe it. Love it.

I really like the cocoa band. I think it helps mute the gold a little bit. It's actually the one band I need to purchase, but I don't have in my collection yet. The closest colored band to Cocoa I have is Walnut.

Just switched from the original SS to a gold... fell in love with how it looks with the midnight blue band, and don't think it looks feminine at all. Doubling down, I also went from a 42mm to a 38mm. :)

I compared all the models and preferred the gold too. I think the discussion about gold being feminine only really comes into it with tech for example iPhones. I've never understood it myself.

My gold is on a white strap and looks sharp.

Gold looks feminine for Tech? More specifically, don't you feel that rose gold would be more in tune for the feminine appeal? I see males sporting rose gold iPhones and Apple Watches. Watch colors are unisex in general, there is no definitive standing.

Seen a guy with the gold iphone and the gold Apple watch. Seeing the gold Apple watch, peaked my interest to purchase an Apple watch.

I see quite a few Matte Black iPhones paired with the space gray Apple Watch. I think it makes sense to have similar colors. And also Apple has similar iPhone colors to the Apple Watch casings as well.

I got the Series 1 in Brushed Gold aluminum with a great Black Friday sale from Target. It came with the cocoa band, and my wife said she wasn't too fond of the color combination. I bought this black leather band from Amazon for $20 and both me and my wife like the look much better. The stitching in the leather matches the gold nicely. The actual connector does NOT color match (it's silver), but that doesn't bother me. I'm sure some people would heavily cringe from it. Overall I think it looks more interesting than the plain black.

[doublepost=1482257587][/doublepost]ps -- it's interesting how Mickey looks pixelized in the picture, but perfect to the human eye. Here's the link to the band if anyone is interested. It's the black in 42mm. I have zero stake in the company or product, I just like it.

That's impressive, wonder what strap I could purchase for se1 38mm....considerations

Yeah, since this came up in that other thread, and I found the link again from my own post :), I actually ordered another one of the same yesterday. 1-1/2 years was a good run for this one, and I still really like the combination.

as the title says, are there any men with the Apple Watch in gold?

I have the iPhone 7 in gold but think the gold in watch is a bit feminine? Thoughts?

OH thinks it looks manly enough haha.

Cheers guys
I'm a guy - if you like the color, just go for it. A lot of people say the new S3 Gold clashes with everything, but I haven't noticed that at all with mine. The notion of a color being too feminine or feminine at all frustrates me - It's the exact reason I purchased the gold watch, and hot pink leather iphone X case. Like I said - If you like the color, just go for it. :)

Yeah.. i think that's dumb too.. only reason I liked the older gold was that it matched my wedding ring while the new one is a bit too coppery for me.

I actually didn't know they changed the gold for the S3. That's a bummer. The S1 gold is perfect, I love it.

Gold is gold to me so regardless of shade, I’d buy it. I’m quite lucky though as my gold AW is yet to clash with anything I’ve worn, much like no gold watch I’ve owned previously has. Not looking to upgrade my AW yet though. Every 4 or 5 years.
