I am so close to buying MyWi, but the price tag and rockapp/rock support is holding me back from purchasing. I want the wifi tethering to tether multiple devices, not just one.

As others have said, guess it depends on your priorities. Since I depend on MyWi every single day to make my work/life more convenient, have no problem paying 20 bucks. As for Rock, what's the big deal? For me it has worked flawlessly, just as Cydia has, in automatically updating apps and providing useful info.:)

Your call -- pay 20 bucks, fiddle around with commands, grab the new bargain app, or just live w/o tethering...But I don't think MyWi people have a 'duty' to satisfy the JBer market demand for low cost; they get real competition, then we'll see if things change.

It's now $20!??! Woah!!!

How do they get away with charging more while adding no new features!?! It's about time they get some competition.

Quite easily. Tethering through AT&T is $20 a month and that's without wifi Tethering. MyWi offers it for $20 lifetime plus wifi Tethering. Sounds like a deal to me.

$20 lifetime

I read on here that they were charging for the upgrade to an iOS4 compatible version. If that's true then any significant update would = a price jump.

I've been waiting for other tethering apps for a while now and so far I haven't seen anything else. I'll keep waiting.

iPhone 4 ~ $300

Service Contract for 2 years ~ $2000

Unwillingness to pay $20 for an app that would serve your needs quite well ~ priceless.

Hey everyone,
I just read up on this thread about the MyWi.
I was wondering a few things though.
What is the "Rock" some of you guys are talking about?
and I am assuming that you need a data plan for the MyWi to work right?

For example if I want to connect my laptop to my iphone's wifi hotspot, I would need a data plan from AT&T in order for MyWi to obtain the wifi?

How much MB of data does it suck up per hour or minute when you are connected through Wifi?

yes you need a data plan as it goes through your wireless provider, and it uses how ever much data the web site you are viewing uses, so bigger websites with lots of graphics or videos will use more then just text based

I used TetherMe, it was $2. Works natively thru the iPhone OS tethering settings, no need for Wi-Fi connections.

Assuming you don't want to tether a WiFi iPad. The only way to do that is using the WiFi tether method.
