How's jellybean on the Gnex?

Well thats what I'm using now, jb isnt a huge improvement over ics imho. It is a bit faster, but still looks kinda of plain to me. With the gnex I'm constantly flashing nightly custom roms, flashing fixes, configuring, and customizing. With all that being said and done its still buggy and has gotten me a bit tired lol. I guess since I do IT work during the day, coming home to do this starting feeling like it went from a hobby to more work at night. I guess, I just want a smartphone with nice features on an os that is sort of stable, quality build, and the great camera which is the reason I got the 64GB version. Oh, I plan on taking alot of pics and video with this. Stopped myself from buying a point and shoot pocket digital camera for this reason. Does anyone even still buy point and shoot digital cameras?

I'm also keeping the gnex as a backup and possible play with on wifi, but I also have a nexus 7 for that. I'm looking forward to the Iphone 5 being my daily driver.

I switched from a Nexus One to the 4S last year and just ordered the 5. The biggest thing I missed was the built-in turn-by-turn navigation, but that's addressed by iOS 6. I didn't really miss widgets that much. The only other feature from Android that I would like to see at some point is the dashboard that lets you turn wi-fi, bluetooth, etc. on and off with a single tap.

You know, I've never had Android but I also think that feature would be welcome on the iphone (The dashboard that lets you turn off and on settings without going into settings. It's really the big reason I'd like to see widgets is so I could get some that did that).

Widgets seem nice too.

Just none of it seems anywhere near worth changing over. I like the iPhone and I don't have any major gripes with it and I already have a bunch of apps. And the little I've played with Android (to be fair it's only when in the store or with some friend's phone so I can't really give them a good try) I've just never been impressed. Though I do think that if I wanted to give android a fair shake I'd have to use one for a week as my only phone to truly see what I thought. But, I have no reason to as Apple hasn't given me a reason to want to leave (plus I'd lose all my apps) nor has Android had anything that seemed desirable enough to give me a reason to want to leave.

Used Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. I had the choice between iPhone 4 and Galaxy S. I bought the whole "Samsung is more superior because you can personalize it bla bla bla" Boy did I make the wrong choice. The phone had bloatwares. It made the phone sluggish. On top of that, the battery sucks. Had to keep changing rom cause none of em were perfect. A year and a half in, my dad upgraded his 3GS to 4s, so I snagged his iPhone 3GS. I was very happy with the 3GS even though the phone came out a year earlier than the Captivate. This time, even though S3 looks good on paper, I chose iPhone 5, because I know, some way some how, Samsung will find a way to disappoint me (bloatwares, short battery life, new android based phones coming every so often, different dates for each phones)

Yes as a android user using a HTC Rezound I am going to give the iPhone 5 a try. I find it terrible that android phones come stock with bloat ware and with out rooting you can't get rid of the apps. Also its the case that some android phones do not have great build quality especially the droid bionic and the HTC rezound.

And what android device are you coming from? Are you worried you'll miss any android features?

I had the original iPhone through iPhone4. Then I switched to VZW and Android. I currently have the Bionic. Throughout this past year, I've realized that Motorola's version of Android is too sticky.

I will miss certain things about Android like different keyboards, notifications, Google Voice integration, asking me which app I choose when launching something, free tethering.

I'm sure I'll get a lot of these back once a jailbreak comes available if it does. But, I'm glad to be going back to iOS.

Jailbreak -> NC Settings -> Done

Of course, we just have to wait for JB.

I am. Leaving my Sprint Galaxy S II behind and I wont be looking back! October 1st (When im eligible to upgrade) Cant come soon enough!

Yep.

I currently have a samsung gs2. I do like the phone but it's time for a change.

I don't dislike android or the mobiles, the only reason I'm switching is I like to notice a real change when I pay hundreds of pounds for new tech, getting another android wouldn't feel worth it. I plan to rotate between iOS and Android in the future.

I think I'll miss widgets; I actually do find a few of them useful. Also the drop down menu and swype. But most of all google maps! I really hope google make a maps app, or at the very least apple upgrade their maps to include public transport information because that has been a lifesaver in the past. I really don't like how apple has spitefully cut google out maps wise, apple maps just dont stand up against it and the 3d view has nothing on street view.

Rant over :p I'm looking forward to a more stable OS with my iPhone, android apps do sometimes crash and the overall system isn't incredibly stable. Also a nice update schedule, the fragmentation of android and its updates is very frustrating.

That would be me! I had a Droid Charge..upgraded to an iPhone 4s, but only kept it for 2 days as going from 4g to 3g was wayy to much of a slowdown so I got the Razr MAXX, which is what I'll be giving up to get the iPhone 5...now that it's got 4GLTE, I should have zero complaints :) Just gotta wait for my friend as I'll be using her upgrade to get the iPhone 5 & giving her my MAXX :)

I'm coming from the galaxy nexus (hopefully if I can get an early upgrade). I loved it.. it has been a great phone but I'm looking for a change

I've been using an iPhone since the original, right up until a couple of weeks ago when I sold my 4s. I picked up a Galaxy Nexus back in June to finally check out Android as it had finally appeared to reach a comparable level to iOS with JB. It's not bad and the GNex itself is OK but build quality just doesn't match the iPhone--feels light and flimsy, especially the battery cover. The larger screen for me is a double edged sword--nice to have more screen real estate but one handed operation is more difficult.

I can understand the appeal of Android regarding customization but fit and polish of both Apple's hardware and iOS is just better. Again, just my opinion.

I'll hold onto the GNex as both a back-up and a means to check up new versions of Android as it'll get the next update before anyone (expect maybe the NEXT Nexus device) but can't wait to go back to iOS full-time on Friday.

Coming from a Samsung S2 which I just got a few months ago (unfortunately got it about a week before the S3 came out but I needed a phone stat and knew I was going to get the iPhone 5 in a few months)...

I really like my phone, especially the size and removable storage and battery. I'll really miss those features, but I haven't had an iPhone before and have been wanting to get one. We'll see how it goes.

Interesting that almost all those who are switching to the iPhone 5 are doing so from old and outdated Androids. No one switching from a Galaxy SIII, One X, Evo LTE or any other new Android flagship. Just sayin

Maybe cause those phones are still "new", so it would be a waste of money to just dump it right away.

New phones are when you can get the most resale value actually. I think it has more to do with how good the newer Android phones are

not really.....the majority of smart phone users in the U.S. live on subsidy's. Not many will pay full price to get the latest and greatest especially if their old phone still works.

Had an iPhone 3G, and iPhone 4, then purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2.. I always enjoyed jailbraking the iPhone and played around with all that could be done with it when jailbroken, so I figured I'd give android a try.

Loved it at first. I rooted it, installed custom ROMs, then the honeymoon was over... I only liked a few custom ROMs. CyanogenMod and MIUI. HATED the stock Samsung Touchwiz software.

Eventually the custom ROMs became extremely buggy on my phone (around the time ICS was released). I dealt with the updates which helped some, and made other things worse. One update even made my unable to use the actual phone part of the phone. Anytime I answered or dialed a call the phone would crash. At that point I decided just to put up with Samsung's Touchwiz ROM until the new iPhone was released.

Now that I have been using Touchwiz for some time now, I actually like it. Haha. Ohh well I am happily moving back to an iPhone regardless.

I've been waiting for the iPhone 5 for a while. I had a Droid Incredible, which broke about a year after I got it (October or so 2011) and I didn't want the iPhone 4s so I got a Blackberry Bold on craigslist, which I recently dropped off a boat, and replaced with a Blackberry Curve for $30 on eBay.

Looking forward to something that can sync perfectly with my mac and iPad. And I miss turn by turn directions from when I had my droid.

Coming from a Droid Razr Maxx. I surely won't miss the lackluster display and camera. I will miss things like SwiftKey keyboard, the LED notifications, and the great battery, of course.

You can easily get $400+ for an SIII or One X. So then paying retail for a new iPhone 5 is the same as a new customer or upgrade price. Again, I don't see anyone with a newer Android flagship talking about trying to get a new iPhone. Interesting

yeah but presumably they didn't get the S3 or One X for free so they would still be LOSING money.
