Am I crazy for considering it or is anyone with me? After upgrading to iOS 7 on my beloved mini I can't help but be disappointed and want the new mini's inevitable oomph. The RAM limitations on the current mini really bit Apple in the butt with iOS 7 - I can't stand even switching tabs on Safari with mine anymore.
Any other thoughts or people considering the same?
Bizarre. My mini on 7.0.2 is running perfectly fine, no lag...no difference between 6&7. In fact...there was just a study posted on touch feedback time per tablet (w/iOS 7) and the only tablet faster than the mini was the iPad 4. Every other iPad and Android offering was 'slower' when it came to response time.
Are there apps you're using that aren't iOS 7 optimized yet? I use mine sometimes 10 hours a day. Nary a hiccup
Absolutely and without a doubt both ipad mini and ipad.
Allways update. The only time I wished I hadn't was the iphone 5s....a waste of an upgrade.
I gave my wife my 5, sold her 4s and bought the 5s. I've owned every iPhone and in my opinion the 5s is hands down the finest iPhone to date. Why do you feel like you wasted an upgrade? I can't believe how fast mine is....the camera quality, finger ID is incredibly convenient and extremely accurate. Not a single issue here. Just wondering why you consider it a 'wasted upgrade'?
Def upgrading. Really want a better processor. Screen doesn't bother me to much. But I would love safari to have less refreshes and be much smoother. So def upgrading. Might sell my mini this weekend
I'm not a Safari user on either my mini or iPad 4. I prefer Mercury on the mini and iCab on the '4'. Have you tried a different browser? Mercury is incredible as it always remembers your font settings for each site you revisit. I agree Safari's seemingly 8 pt text is a bitch to read...but the other options easily take care of what you may be looking for. I love iOS 7---in my mini, iPad 4, iPhone 5 & 5s. Glitches are rare and typically noticed to me only by non optimized apps at this point....but it's very encouraging as every day another half dozen apps are updating.
Had the mini since launch last year and i will be upgrading as soon as the new ones comes out. Mostly due to ram/processor that makes the current gen.. A choppy experience.
I'm going to try and hold steady but the combination of the Gold color, retina display, performance boost, and Touch ID might push me over the edge. Plus there is a noticeable reduction in performance since updating to iOS 7 on the Mini.
Again...you guys seem to be in the minority. The mini works extremely well with iOS 7. Not sure where you're running into such challenges
That said...as I always do...we'll pick at least one of the two up...if not both and then sell off one or two of our older models (iPad original, iPad 2).
Good luck though..,keep in mind, these guys will slow a bit if you exceed 90% of the storage cap. Keeping 80% or more open is a good idea and should keep it running well. I'm typing this on my mini now and it's amazing to me how much better spell correction has gotten with iOS 7.
