Any Success Changing Shipping Address? Apple.com Order - AT&T Device (ONLY)

So Wanted to have 1 thread with these specific parameters for discussion.

Please only post here IF


1) You ordered your phone through Apple.com's Store

2) You ordered an AT&T variant of the phone.



So it seems AT&T phones ordered through Apple.com are seeing this error message when you try to change the shipping address:

Code: 
According to the policy of your wireless service provider, the iPhone in this order can only be shipped to your current wireless billing address. Other items can be shipped to different addresses.


I remember last go around we were able to change the address by calling I think, once the order changed from Processing to Preparing for shipment. However, I don't remember such a specific error message such as this, it seems that AT&T is hellbent on preventing us from changing the address.

This thread will serve the purpose of discussion and if someone was able to change theres and HOW so we can also do so.

I'm also waiting for Chat Specialist, report back what you are told, I will also, let's see what we can get done.
 
Be careful with this. I have had friends who orders got cancelled because they changed the shipping address with Apple to be different then the billing address.

You will need the order number when you call.

They didn't they said their was nothing they could do, they couldn't front load him in the queue. Everywhere already had their iPhones with ship dates of a month or so out so he would have to order and wait for enough stock to get one. He got discouraged and gave up and just bought one a few months later I believe.
 
I received my Order Number a few minutes ago.

I'm on hold with Apple Customer Service now. Waiting to change my address. Hopefully this works.
 
SUCCESS.

Just changed my SHIPPING ADDRESS, I will be receiving an email confirmation shortly.

Took 1.5 hours on hold with Apple Customer Care.

Apparently you CAN change your shipping address if this is an upgrade but if it's a new line, you CANNOT.

That's good news! I have the same problem, so hopefully I can get the address updated. I'm trying chat first, but I'll call after work if that doesn't go through.
 
SUCCESS! Shipping address changed. Originally ordered on Apple Store App.

These are the steps I took.

1. Call Apple Customer Service 1-800-676-2775
2. Choose Option 4
3. Enter Order number
4. Wait on hold (1hr 31min)
5. Ask for change of address
 
I can't even be placed on hold with Apple. The recording says something like "Unfortunately due to expectantly high call volumes, we can't get to your call today", then I get disconnected.

Keep trying. On the 5th or 6th try I finally got put on hold. However, it's been an hour and I'm still on hold. People are saying its taking 90+ minutes so I'll still be waiting

Finally got in myself. I've been on hold for 33 mins. Hopefully I actually get through to someone. I'll update the thread if it works.
 
I called twice this morning (got disconnected the first time). The second time the guy was so unhelpful and insisted the only way it could be changed was if I changed it myself under my Apple Store account (which I can't do since I get the AT&T error message). Very frustrating. He told me I would have to straighten it out with AT&T, which I knew was ridiculous since Apple would be the one shipping the package. I contacted AT&T just to humor him so I'd have more ammo next time i called back, and of course they told me there was nothing they could do on their end and Apple would need to make the change.

I called Apple back this afternoon, got someone else, and she very quickly submitted a request to have the shipping address changed. She said it should be changed within 24 hours since they are getting a lot of requests like this today. She also said it won't affect my shipping date. If you get someone difficult the first time around, just ask to speak to someone else or call back later!
 
Wish I could offer a solution, I experienced this last time too and what a scam.

AT&T does this on purpose to push customers to their stores or web site. You can eventually get the address changed but what a major pain and it's time consuming as others have posted.

If you give in and click over to AT&T's web site or walk into a store the problem goes away. I find the entire practice appalling, just not enough to leave AT&T yet.

I feel for everyone having that issue, I've gone through it myself. Can't buy a phone from Apple unless you want to spend hours on the phone trying to explain the problem to a AT&T employee who is clueless to begin with.

This has never happened to me and I go through this with every release.
 
another solution:
change your att billing address temporarily and order again NOW! if you want 6, it's still available and ships next Friday.

GL!
