Tried calling apple at 3:00 EDT and got the "hang up message."...due to high call volume we can't answer your call, click...

This is dumb. 2 hours 10 minutes and counting

Funny thing, the moment i pressed submit on my last post, they finally picked up. My address has been changed and it is reflected on the order status page! I was on hold for 2 hours 10 minutes before they picked up

I had to go to the AT&T site and change my billing address to the address of my office so that they'd deliver it here. Apple.com wouldn't let me modify the shipping address at all.

And it auto updated on Apple.com or what??

I don't get how you fixed it please explain

On hold 2 hours 20 mins call went silent dropped after 5 min of silence gg

Holy hell right when I submitted my last post they also answered and changed it for me. Thank you for that last glimmer of hope!

After I changed my billing address on ATT.com, I waited a few minutes, in case it needed to filter its way through the system. Then I went back to Apple.com, chose the phone I wanted, and on a popup form that appeared, entered my phone number, billing zip code (the new one that I'd just changed on ATT.com) & the last 4 numbers of my SSN.

Apple.com then verified that information with AT&T's system, and when it came time to enter the shipping address, the site automatically filled in all the fields with my new billing address. It still said that it must be shipped to my billing address, but seeing as how I'd changed it on ATT.com, there was nothing that I needed to change at that point. So now it's being delivered to my office next Friday.

Sat on hold for about an hour-forty five, but they were able to put in a request to have the shipping address changed. Said that it would definitely happen, but it would take about 24 hours to take effect.

Good News! Hopefully I have the same luck, I'm on hold again, call dropped at 2 hours 20 mins lol... I'm a masochist so I called again while @ Happy Hour, so far 46 minutes down!

I'm a little confused. Had you already ordered, prior to changing the address on ATT, and it updated your previous order, or did you change it and then order?

Relevant Apple chat

I had this chat with an Apple rep. I'm not sure if my question ended up seeding the answer to him, or it's really true, but here's what he said:

> Good afternoon

Hi there! Thank you for using the Apple Online Store! My name is Clay. How are you doing today?

> I ordered and iPhone today and would like to change the shipping address. Should I change my ATT billing address first, and then request I change my shipping address with Apple to avoid any cancellation, or does one have nothing to do with the other?

Good question!

They are absolutely related!

To change the shipping address, first contact AT&T to change the address on your account! You can do this with an agent over the phone, or through the AT&T website.

Once you have changed your account address, you can contact Apple customer service to change the shipping address on your order.

> Just so I am clear, if I were to change the ATT address, it wouldnt immediately feed over to Apple and trigger a cancellation, correect?

> I mean, I'd have enough time to call and have the shipping address changed.

Absolutely! As long as you call Apple within a day of changing your account address, there will be no problem!

> And I will need to call Apple; this update can not be done over chat, correct?

Correct - to change the address on the order you will need to call. Let me get you the direct number for customer service.

Thanks for waiting! The number for Customer Service is 1-800-676-2775.

2:20:01 later I changed the address on both my orders without a hitch, no problem, instantly shows up online, and received an email confirmation from @apple.com of the changes.

after 2 hours on hold they were able to change it

Yup looks like we got our answer, call and ask they will change it.

Now why wouldn't they just let us do it online. Save the heavy phone load??

Almost been on hold for an hour. ugh.

Wondering if I should cancel this order, and change it to store pickup.

Does upgrade eligiblity reset right after cancelling an order from Apple?

Not sure what to do. 64 black 4.7 still shows 9/19 delivery.

Seems replacing an order I can't do store pick up :(

I had called, both Apple and AT&T multiple times today. AT&T said there was nothing they could do, and gave up on talking with Apple. Finally this afternoon I did speak with Apple. The woman I spoke with said if I tried to change my address, it would cancel my order. I think she was trying to scare me. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was out back on hold for 15 minutes. I think she thought I'd give up. The second woman I finally spoke with was Marcia (or Marsha). She was able to change the address. I even got the change email and saw the change in the Apple app immediately. I'm a happy person now, for the first time since the order wemt through.

I'm going to change my address with FedEx/UPS or have it help at my local facility for pickup. I was told by a couple people on here that Apple won't allow that, because they have strict policies that won't allow FedEx/UPS to change the address or have it held at my local facility...but that's not what an Apple rep said...

That's not entirely true though, and what are you gonna do when the Fedex says sorry the shipper has restrictions on this, show them this chat dialogue?

Every year I've tried things with the shipper it's been heavily restricted by the shipper.

I updated my shipping address through Apple phone support this morning. Waited on hold for about 55 minutes at 8am ET. Was really easy.
