Reading a lot of horror stories about folks trying to do upgrade swaps. Did anyone here actually do a SUCCESSFUL upgrade swap either over the phone or in person?

Any advice for us is appreciated!

Only advice after being on the phone with AT&T and Apple for 3 HOURS is to just go to the AT&T store...

AT&T pretty killed 3 phones on my account over this.

Yes, just finished it.

Called AT&T before activating through iTunes. Gave them the IMEI number, but I forgot to give them the ICCID (sim) number.. called back gave them that everything is working flawlessly..

It then let you activate through itunes using your number instead of the original number?

I tried the same things yesterday and it would not work.

Great news, did you call the number on the link provided in a previous thread? If not which number did you call?

Thanks

Please post the number you used to call ATT. Thanks...

Yes, I called the 800 number. Followed the prompts said I wanted to do upgrade swap. The rep asked for imei num. But forgot to ask for iccid number she said I was her first iPhone call today but her supervisors told them some people were getting them early.

If you only give imei num. You'll get the "waiting for activation" message. They have to update both imei and iccid numbers...

Nice. When you updated through iTunes did it prompt you to choose your data plan, (i.e. was unlimited there)?

I finished mine today, but all hell broke loose with iTunes.

I followed the instructions on that ATT sheet. I called them up, gave them the info they asked for. Went to activate and it said my sim card wasnt any good.

I ended up at ATT and they got it straightened out for me.

Ohh, a new micro-cell card is $15 plus tax. NOT free like the person on the phone told me.

Good luck.

No I told the rep I wanted to keep my unlimited plan. After I hung up with her the first time I plugged it inti iTunes and my number came up just had to sign into my apple account and then you can either set up as new or restore from backup...

Didn't have to go to AT&T or buy a new sim...

They are truly clueless. She explained a process that was obviously different than those instructions on their own website.

I'm on the phone with them right now.

I've given the IMEI and the ICCID, so hopefully it will work.

I have no faith, though.

You should be good to go!

damn i was gonna do that with someone else's line. glad I didn't. att is step ahead of us.

AT&T is not a step ahead of anything. They allow this, you're not "getting away" with something.

They can choose to charge or not. Sounds like they were being jerks about it.

I've done the same, but the damn activation wizard in iTunes isn't picking up their changes... This is hour 5 on the phone with AT&T...
