Bought a second hand iPad1 16Gb 3G last saturday for a very nice price.
Been looking at an iPad for some time but never could convince myself to buy one for full retail, it is a nice device but not worth it for me.

Never felt the need tot spend €599,- for the same iPad I have right now for less then half that price.
It's a great device but I still don't feel the need tot spend that much to get iPad2 now:)
I enjoy my iPad1 very much and feel I can hold off buying a next one till iPad3 gets released;)

I think I am the only one that thinks Angry Birds is sooooo boring

I feel the same way, as we all say, different strokes.

Getting back to the OP's topic, buying an iPad 2 was not an option for me because I couldn't find one and still can't if I wanted one. I didn't want to wait until the apocalypse to get one so I bought iPad 1 and am very happy with it.

I'll wait for a higher resolution in iPad 3 or whenever one with the features I want is released. For now, iPad 1 is great for what I need it for.

Actually I had the opposite experience. The update to 4.3 and activation of the 4/5 finger gestures convinced me not to upgrade to the iPad 2.

But the speed and functionality boost provided has lost luster over time. I also had the Mail app quit on me twice recently while composing lengthy emails, the contents of which were lost. No draft saved or anything. Ugh. And yes I only keep a couple/3 apps in the tray at a time.

I ordered a 64GB black ATT yesterday from MacConnection and it shipped today (!)

Nope, I got my iPad 2 two weeks ago & just ordered my wife one today. Should have it before the end of the month & no waiting in line at the mall at 6AM.

Good for you. I also resisted the Apple siren / zombie call to sleepwalk down to the Apple store to make the purchase. I miss nothing and am perfectly happy with my iPad1 and the extra 500 bucks in the bank. Waiting for iPad3 when the real reason to make the move will occur.

HaHa, this, totally.
iPad 2 is great if you don`t have a tablet already but, for me, not enough of a leap from the original.
By the time you need the iPad 2`s extra power the iPad 3 will be just around the corner.
This is a product with a yearly update (or less, in this case) for now so I`ll happily hang on till next year.

Yeah, I'm picking mine up from FEDEX today but I think I'm going to simply return it this weekend without even opening it. My enthusiasm completely wore off. :)

so why on earth were you buying one in the first place? just because it was the cool new apple item?

Gonna be a sad day for some recent iPad 1 buyers when iOS 5 comes out soon and doesn't run on iPad 1...

And even if it does, you know there's going to be features removed for that version, at least partly because it doesn't have the same horsepower in CPU or memory.

Was thinking about making a thread exactly like this. After going weeks without securing one from my local BBY (in addition to the posts on here and rumors from friends who have claimed they saw BBY selling iPad 2s [including the model I reserved] to walk-ins) I have almost lost interest.

That's probably why I spend down time at work browsing these forums, rebuilding my interest :D

After a week of failing to get one, I had pretty much lost interest.

But jut last week they put up an iPad2 billboard (2 actually) right outside my apartment window.

It just sits there and torments me.

Damn you Apple...

Because once iOS 5 comes out people will be unable to upgrade to the iPad2?

Once my iPad 1 can't do everything I want to do with it, I'm definitely upgrading. But the only penalty I would incurr is that I didn't have an iPad 2 before others did. I can probably live with that. :)

It's not too difficult to get over the iPad 2. It's really not that big of a deal especially if you have the original.

funny how things work, the days leading up to launch I couldnt contain myself or imagine going another full day without my ipad 2. Well we all know how crazy demand was. Next thing you know a week went by, 2 weeks, then I thought "I just went 3 weeks ipad-less and dont feel like anything is missing"

Im not even sure if you can walk in and buy one today, but Im glad I worked over the stupid impulse buying. I feel better now, I didnt give in

I never had any intentions of buying either the first or second iPad, that is until launch day of iPad 2. I had off from work that Friday, and the hype suddenly engulfed me that I decided to wait on line at the Apple store to get one. I was so excited. Several weeks later, I'm not sure why I bought it... the really only thing that I, well, my wife uses it for is to play Smurf Village... $600 to play Smurf Village. Actually, started reading more because of it, but I realized that I'm better off with a Kindle for that.. so I'm buying a Kindle.

Actually I was going to get the iPad 2 but once I saw the specs for the Asus Transformer I realized that Honeycomb tablets have a future!

So I'm holding off to get the Asus instead now that my emotional hype died down.

+3 I don't know why all this buzz for this game.

Same here.

Although, "Tiny Wings" is just simply awesome! :D

The appeal of some creature doing the seemingly impossible with incredibly limited resources... there's something really empowering about that concept!

A month and 12 iPad 2's later....

I have no interest in more, will keep the last two I purchased and let everyone buy one from another middle man.

Sick of wasting time/effort and gas $ on iPad 2. Sad that I am reverting to what is technically old tech due to lack of faith that Apple can sell me an iPad 2 in good working order in the next few months. Found a great deal on an iPad 1 and loading up the apps now.

almost happened

I could have lost interest in the iPad 2 very easily. I lined up early outside of an Apple store about a week after launch: I was 2nd in line but they didn't have the model that I wanted, so I held off.

About a week later, following the advice in the Target thread, I lined up early and was 1st at the store. Luckily for me that day, they had what I was looking for.

If I had come away empty-handed a 2nd time, I would have been annoyed (by the futility of it all) until mid-cycle, at which point I would have just waited until the eventual release of the iPad 3 (whenever that is).

I find it so odd that so many people will not buy one AT ALL if they tried and couldn't get one at or very close to release. I would think if this is something you found worth spending countless hours chasing, you'd just get one once stock is readily available rather than not have one at all.

Kind of

Apple products always get released late in Canada and I started to lose interest. I'm also too lazy to stand in line. I guess inside, I know I don't really need one. But every time I see one in person... :apple::apple::apple:!!!
