Yes but if you’re Going to spend $1000 on a XR(including tax) why not just spend $250 more. Seems like $1249 is not far off from $1000. Now if we were talking about $500 compared to $250, ok I get it. And monthly costs helps out..

I'm not sure where you are from but that's the worst rationalization I've ever heard.

Probably because the XS would still be much more expensive with that much storage and still have a much worse battery life and a smaller screen.

How come?
I went 8+ to XS wanting smaller profile phone.
XS is great and I don’t have any of the RF issues that I can tell.

After testing out the XR I think the screen is amazing, text and video. It has a great color, not too warm and not too cold.

Battery life.

Cost not an issue.. fine with either.

Not liking the color-shift on the OLED.
I am getting some annoying screen flicker with the XS.. looks like an auto-brightness issue.

RAM on the LCD will be fine for way longer than I own the XR.

I don’t use 3DT.

I prefer single lens camera so data from wide and zoom not used in my photos... flashbacks to the 7+ issues.

I like the matte look of the aluminum.. I don’t hate the steel... just like the matte more.

That is off top of my head.

Benefits of the XR compared to the XS:
  • Physically larger display
  • Plus/Max iPhone landscape options (the smallest phone to have this ability)
  • Higher antenna gain
  • Colors
  • LCD (better for eye strain, text while scrolling)
  • Goldilocks size between XS and XS Max
  • Best iPhone battery life
  • Price
  • Has a 128GB option (sweet spot for many users)

:) Yep, maybe next year I'll try for the OLED model again. But I kept swinging and missing finding one I was happy with. But I am actually way happier than the XR than I thought I would be. And the colors are kind of fun...something different. I always wanted a Product Red iPhone but they always released them after I had already bought that model! It's nice they have the option from the get-go this year.

I think it helps too the internals are mostly the same as the XS as well, save for a GB of RAM and a telephoto lens (and screen obviously). We get the same A12 processor with neural engine, 3GB of RAM (which at least right now is definitely sufficient for iOS), same wide angle rear lens, and same Face ID/Camera system. It really helps shorten the gap between devices, unlike when they released the 5C which was clearly a much lower-end model. The XR doesn't feel very low-end.

Ya I wish they never did that, should have used last years Achip and graphics but whatever

My XS is also doing the stutter thing after 10 or so seconds of being inactive.. annoying.

Benfists of XS to XR.
*Price not too far off
*still get all day battery life and charge at night just like most XR users will do.
* More ram(don’t care what people say more ram equals faster performance)
*Gigabyte-Class LTE(I already see a difference from X)
*stainless steel band won’t show drop marks as much as aluminum
*OLED won’t have backlight bleed in the dark, blacks are noticeably darker. Colors pop more.
*XR PPI is the exact same as the iPhone 4, so the XS isn’t years old technology put in a today’s phone.(just the fact of that is bothering) lol
*XS is thinner, the XR is the thickest Apple has ever made at 8.3mm.
*sorry but I love 3DTouch
*bezals are noticeably thinner, more premium look
*XS has the most durable glass on the front and back. The XR only has it on the front! (That’s actually a really big one since they made so many colors a lot will be using them naked)
*less water resistance

Now giving that we all like what we like, this is all just our take. I hope the XR does well and you guys all like them...

- You are ignoring the screen on your RAM comment. LCD doesn’t need as much.

- My 8+ could get 250 down on TMO and over 400 down on WiFi at home.. I don’t really need much more ‘speed’

- Regarding your XR PPI comment, have you seen the XR screen? I have.. a LOT.. and the XS, with it’s color shift is a wash IMO. The text density is NOT any worse than my 8+ at the second to smallest text size setting.

- I used to literally wash my 8+ once a week. IP7 has always been fine for me and I have AC+

Ya I went into Apple store launch day to check one out. A lot of YouTube videos push 1080p and yes 720 is good. But I love watching movies in 1080p. And still, the fact that the PPI is the same as the iPhone 4 just sounds bad! Lol

250 down!? No freaking way! Not sure I have seen 250 down before not on WiFi. and yes in a couple years your old modem will be like a 80 year old in a race..;)

Ya I get the water resistance isn’t much a difference, but it’s still a difference.. hahaha

We could go back and forth all day long. Let’s just say I’m right and your wrong!o_O:D

Because everything that the s has is pointless for me which in return makes the extra money a waste. The lcd screen is more than sufficient, 3d touch is pointless/lazy & one more gb of ram is also next to no difference.

The Xr is literally more than enough. The s's are for the true phone addicts imo

I played trailers on the XR and they look great. I am so picky about resolution I returned the 8 (wanted to go smaller months ago and wasn’t impressed with my wife’s X) as it didn’t look as nice as the 8+. The XR, to me, looks as good as the 8+. I am being honest.

For me, 64GB is not enough storage. That means I was looking at the 128GB XR vs the 256GB XS (and XS Max). The XR with 128GB is $799 while the XS at 256GB is $1,149. In the world I live in, $350 is not a trivial amount of money.

So your whole point in opening this thread was to tell people how to spend their money?

No, I just wanted to know what made them
Choose the 256 over the XS.
[doublepost=1541010081][/doublepost]

Wow that’s great! I wish I got that, are you next door to a tower!
[doublepost=1541010113][/doublepost]
I got the 256GB XR.

I want to keep this phone for 3-5 years and I don't want to risk running out of storage.

Sounds like a good idea. How do you like it, what are you coming from?

There's so much stupid in this post that I don't feel like wasting my time even responding to each nugget of unintelligence. So I'll just respond to one - the PPI comment is blatantly stupid. If you want to compare PPI, then why is Apple using a PPI on the XS that Samsung was using over 6 years ago? Why do the brand new iPad Pros coming out get rave reviews for their screens yet have a PPI that over 70 fewer than the XR?

In other words, if you dont understand tech, stop pretending like you do.

Also lol Dodgers

Yeah this is the spec game and honestly a lot of that is preference and opinon. I find what is important to one person may not be so important to another. Why does one phone have to be less than, can't they just be the phone that we each selected for the reasons we selected it and that be that? I don't understand the need to get into these my d**k is bigger than your d**k comparisons. Buy what works best for you and be happy for everyone else that purchased what works best for them.

It's hard to tell the XS/Max is OLED as I can't see many differences between them and LCD displays. Maybe if I was watching movies in a darkened room I would. I think OLED on the iPhone doesn't pop quite like other phones but is probably more accurate.

I would always go for as much storage as possible with the XR. I got the 256GB Max instead of the 64GB but wouldn't need the 512GB.

I love it so far. I'm coming from a three year old Google Nexus 5X so the performance difference is huge. I just got tired of all the AB testing, inconsistencies and bugs introduced with updates. Love Android too, but I wanted a more solid experience this time. Plus there are some great iOS apps out there. There are a few things I miss from Android, but I'll be fine. The keyboard has been a frustrating experience, but I'm doing pretty well with Gboard right now.

I chose the XR because OLED displays give me severe eyestrain and migraines with their PWM flicker, and I saved some money too. 3D touch and a telephoto camera would have been nice, but I prefer not to be in severe pain over those features.

I very much understand tech. So please don’t wait ur time anymore.

yes the Dodgers, not only did we win the National league for the second time in a row but we have won our division 6 times in a row. Did we lose yes, in the big show. Yes but.... I would rather be second best then anything else. And if anyone thinks losing the World Series is worse then not making it then ask any ball player around.

You sound like you work at Apple marketing

Yes but if you’re Going to spend $1000 on a XR(including tax) why not just spend $250 more. Seems like $1249 is not far off from $1000. Now if we were talking about $500 compared to $250, ok I get it. And monthly costs helps out..

You’re making it sound like $250 more is not that much more expensive, especially with consumers spending already over $1000, so I have to disagree with you that you’re making it sound like it’s not a considerable amount, when it is. You have to remember, consumers generally aren’t used to spending this much on a smart phone device, regardless if it’s on monthly payments or not, $250 more is enough to turn ‘some off’ and resort to the lower storage option of the XR.

Ya I get the storage, but more ram, better modem, OLED, stainless, less bezels, 3D Touch, sounds better.. lol I have 256 and I don’t need it. So was wondering if storage was really the only reason someone would do that unless it was truly needed.
If I couldn’t afford to go up to 256GB Xs then I’d rather go for the 256GB Xr because as great as the Xs is only having 64GB would ruin the experience for me.
