Anybody sticking with the iPhone 4 no matter what?

I'm definitely getting the new iPhone (4S)(5), etc, cause I don't really like the iphone is a bit bothersome with its shape being totally flat since the 3GS had a rounded droplet type shape like the ipad2, and I'm sure the iphone5 will look similar since last year, the iphone4 and the ipad1 look similar. :)

I'm sticking with Apple till the ends of the earth.

What it would take:

Windows laptops would have to become better than Macs. Because Macs integrate and match, this affects my Eco system and therefore is a mountain Android cannot climb by itself.

An android would have to carry a newly invented feature set or paradigm that is yet unimagined because at the end of the day all we do is browse the web, email, text, and social network. Everything can do that so it would take a complete paradigm shift.

It would have to be something that Apple can't somehow do or also implement themselves in a timely manner.

Since the iPhone is already instant response as far as user interface, that part doesn't leave room for improvement so a phone can either be as smooth as the iPhone or less smooth. You can't really improve on instant response.

This mystery item, beyond being technically better, would also have to reach the social status symbol that Apple has and has to become a standardized iconic item in our civilization. The type of rep that makes girls impressed by your accessory and insinuates positive assumptions about ones character just on the merit of the consumer choice one has made.

None of this will happen in this era. Probably not even the battery life will catch up since battery technology doesn't really evolve much anymore since the only way to squeeze out long battery life is through a closed system with aggressive energy management and android is all about being unnecessarily open so....

iPad vs iPad 2 (A4 vs A5)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4FCfvyS8b4

I will pretty much stick to it after watching the speed test between an iPad vs iPad 2, I think I will be content with iPhone 4 for another year. And there is a rumor I hear that the Apple A5 chip is overheating which is delaying the iPhone 5.

Link

The dual-core A5 chip, which is found in iPad 2, is manufactured on Samsung's 45-nanometer process, and is almost twice the size of the A4 processor found in iPhone 4.

The new A5 chip measures 10.1 x 12.1 millimeter compared to 7.3 x 7.3 millimeter for the A4 chip. According to Chipworks' chip experts, more space is needed on the A5 chip for an additional processing core and enhanced graphics.

Considering I'm not really into the gaming aspect unless I have real controls and I don't really multi-task, I think the A4 chip is good enough until my contract is up. I also don't want to deal with the bloated iOS5 or deal with lower battery life if it comes to overheating problems. The more it does, the more strain on battery. And the MP bump shouldn't bother me that much. I see just a few seconds difference in speed and cleaner graphics between iPad vs iPad 2 which isn't a big deal to me.

But by next year, I will probably be ready for an upgrade. No rush. iPhone 4 suits me just fine for a solid two years. I am not looking for the phone with the best camera or best specs anymore. I want my next phone to have the best battery life when surfing the web and listening to music. That simple. I would be willing to move to Android or WP7 if they ever had a phone with longer battery life than iPhone 4. Quad core and all that mumbo jumbo is not what I really want. You get to the point when alot of this stuff really does become overkill and you won't need it or use it.

2 month old iPad2 (replaced BlackBerry PlayBook) and 2 week old iPhone 4 (replaced BlackBerry Torch).....I think I'm ok for awhile yet. But my next will be another iPhone unless something absolutely mind blowing comes out from someone else (not likely).

well, i bought my iPhone 4 in december of last year, and i have no plans on upgrading it to the next iteration. i have really no need for a larger screen and a faster processor. more ram is always good, but a simple spec upgrade is nothing that'll make me line up for a new one (if get it at all.) as it stands, the iPhone 4 does everything i want it to do, and i'm actually much more excited for iOS 5.

I have a 3GS and have so far skipped the 4 waiting for full upgrade eligibility, which will be mid-July. I'm going to wait and see what the 5 has to offer.

So do I..

To be honest, and this is purely a matter of personal preference, when the 4 came out, I did not like how sharp and edgy it was.. if this makes sense...

It didn't sit in my hand quite right.

I certainly hope that 5 might be a little bit different...

In any case 3GS is right now doing all I need... phone and iPod in one and a couple of apps...

Btw.. whats with the OP... "...no matter what".. I mean... such fatalistic words usually don't sound cute.. :)

I tried to word it as best as I could lol

The bigger screen is a big positive but now I have an iPad it isn't as big of a need for me

I'm in the same position

Took out a two year contract dec 2010 and will expire when the 6 will be out

I upgraded my line to the iPhone 4 in March after using a Samsung Focus off-contract for a bit until it started giving me hardware trouble. I'll never go with Samsung again. However, I really did like Windows Phone. I love my iPhone 4 and am waiting for what the iPhone 5 will bring. I'm only going to consider the iPhone and the Nokia and possibly HTC Windows Phones going forward. This is contingent on what ecosystem (laptop/tablet/phone) I'm going with for the long haul. I currently have a PC bought for college 4 years ago as well as my iPhone and iPad. Once the iPhone 5 the new MacBooks/Pros and Mac Pros as well as Windows 8 hit the market.

I feel this is going to be how we make our decisions going forward as well consolidate our mobile needs with one OS, at least for most of us. We shall see.
