Took an hour to download and probably another hour to actually do the install.

its certainly not quick is it. Mine is about the same as others, an hour to download and an hour to install. Glad im doing it today when i dont need to be away from my desk.

Started installation last night before going to bed. Installation was still going at 6:00 a.m. So it had clearly stalled at some point in the night. I futzed with the watch for a bit, took it off charger, put it back on, then it started downloading again. I went back to sleep for a bit and at 6:45 a.m. I checked it again and it was done installing.

yes.... took a while... i didn't time it but it was well over an hour... the download say 1 hour to go when i started it, then once downloaded all the other stuff it does....

now i'm all set with discover apple pay on my watch FINALLY! and i really liked the nightstand mode last night! much easier checking the time when i woke up in the middle of the night!

I had a similar issue. I've gone through 4 different downloads, each about an hour. It downloads in its entirety, then says I don't have an internet connection to verify and then starts over. I've got 50 mins left to download 5. No wonder the servers are clogged if we have to download the same file so many times.

I did reboot both watch and phone and it still started over.
Restarted phone and watch and watch app and it is now downloading.
I'm on download #7 and still same issue. No idea what to do...I repaired as a new watch, rebooted watch and phone...

Great update! Took about an hour to download, verify, and install. Much quicker than I anticipated. Indications were that it might take 1 to 4 hours to update!

I had to actually restart the watch to get the verification process to ... well, verify the download and install went ahead!

I kept having the same problem, too. I restarted both the watch and iPhone and it still hung on verification. Then I just restarted only my iPhone and then the installation finished verifying and it completed within 15 minutes as it installed on the watch.

Download took about 30 minutes, then got stuck on Verification, exited the Watch App and then got back in. Went through download again, but quickly, then verification was quite quick and so was install.

Tried last night then gave up
Stuck on the " verifying " status for over an hour both times

I will try again later tonight

Exact same problem for me. Anyone figure this out? (I've only read page 1 of thread so far but will keep looking)
Wow, that took about 3 hours and I'm slightly suspicious that it interupted my VPN connection to my place of work which stopped mysteriously during the update and suddenly worked again once it was done. Could be coincidence but anyway now up to date.

Also when it had mostly installed the Phone did show "up to date v. 1.01" or something but the watch was still updating with the progress indicator growing to a full circle. After that the phone reported version 2 was installed.

I fell asleep last night while the software was downloading. When I woke I looked at my phone and it said the software was version 1.01 but up to date. That was a bit frustrating until I looked at my watch and realised it was in nightstand mode. No idea how long it took but less time than a (shortish) night's sleep.

Absurdly long download times -- 6 hours, now 8 claimed to be remaining after just now unpairing and repairing the watch and setting it up as a new device with no apps installed. Power cycling watch and phone last night fixed nothing.

1.0.1 installed far more quickly than this and I don't know what the ridiculous hangup is. Very frustrated. This should have finished in an hour yesterday.

Apple could have been much more elegant in the implementation of this, give an estimate of time to allow/expect, a timeline. Come on apple, keep it appley!

Same here, I just closed the Apple Watch app on my iPhone (swipe up/completely exit the app) and then opened it again and it said watchOS 2.

Odd update process for sure. Guess I've been spoiled with iPhone updates becoming faster with each iOS release. Hopefully Apple will smooth out the watchOS updates moving forward since this is the first "major" one.

Mine downloaded and installed overnight (woke up to the watch asking for my pin then it started doing its thing). Thanks to whoever reminded me I had a beta profile installed!

It's really weird. If I didn't browse this site regularly, I wouldn't know that the 2.0 upgrade was available. It's only after I began the download it that a notification in the form of an encircled number 1 appeared on the My Watch app. on the iPhone.

My update did eventually finish when I tried it at work, but the Watch app on the phone does not do a good job of displaying progress. A "X bytes of Y downloaded" text progress report would have been very reassuring.
